BEHEMOTH is a TRIPLE A VR GAME! // Hands-on With One of The BEST VR Games of 2024

- BEHEMOTH was the most MIND BLOWING VR experience I had at Gamescom this year and looks set to be one of the best VR games in years! I walked away thinking about this game more than any other game and I cannot wait to play more, this is a true TRIPLE A VR game and it will blow people away! BEHEMOTH VR is the brand new VR game from the team behind Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, it mixes brutal combat with exploration across a cursed land filled with VR giants, behemoths that need to be climbed, conquered and slain... and trust me when I say you've never seen anything quite like this before. These behemoths are MASSIVE, in my Gamescom Behemoth VR gameplay demo I went face to face with the Dreddstag, the biggest of all behemoths, a skyscraper sized stag creature that I needed to physically climb to the top of and the entire experience tested me immensely as a VR veteran. My legs turned to jelly as I started my ascent and the whole experience of playing Behemoth made VR feel truly exciting again, it felt fresh and new, Skydance are trying something here that I haven't seen attempted by anyone else, it's incredibly ambitious and I feel like they're poised to pull it off.
This Behemoth VR gameplay / Behemoth Dreddstag gameplay is a mixture of 4K 60FPS B-Roll and my own captured gameplay from my demo at Gamescom, the game was running on a PC via a Quest 3. Behemoth is launching November 14th for PC VR, Quest 2, Quest 3 and PSVR and it looks set to be one of the biggest and best new VR games of 2024... I cannot wait to play more!

Stuff like this is what VR was made for. It feels like we're finally getting past the tech-demo days.
EXACTLY! It's a shame so little triple A vr devs actually utilise vr to their minds extent. I wanna see what it's like to fight a megaladon in vr (not that I would be brave enough to do it.), and operate tanks and planes. I WANT VR ADAPTATIONS OF MY FAVOURITE SHOWS AND FLAT SCREEN GAMES LIKE THE LAST OF US!
@@user-hp7jb1xc2z Same dude. To me, that's the whole point of VR - being inside the game doing all the wild adventurous stuff you used to do in flatscreen games. It's why I don't really like the push for AR games, I don't wanna do stuff in my own house lol. I want to get immersed into other worlds and do crazy stunts like i'm actually there! Super excited for this game because of that.
@@user-hp7jb1xc2z Saints and Sinners is a bit like The Last of Us, but maybe not as intense.
Batman and behemoth look great, now I wanna see what metro and alien play like.
I really hope Alien plays like Isolation....
Trailers are out already
It’s the action from Aliens combined with a bit of stealth from Isolation
Ya being in those two I’m waiting 😢
I'm with you, but also interested in Hitman 3 and Wanderer too. A handful of indies also look interesting. But these games in particular look spectacular.
This is the best video I've seen for Behemoth so far. This and Batman are my most anticipated titles of the year, and honestly each video I see for them always swings me back and between which one I'm looking forward to the most. I'm glad there's going to be at least 2 or 3 weeks between their releases.
"I thought I'd seen everything in VR before until this" Coming from Beardo that has me incredibly excited for this
That swordplay looks like it's quite satisfying. The parries and hits look nice and CHONKY!
Yeah the swordplay looks amazing but then you have people going like "b...b..but blade and sorcery is more realistic!"
I’ve been replaying dishonored 2 these last few days and really feel a dishonored game would be amazing in vr. Especially if they nailed the stealth and powers.
I agree! They should make a VR remake of the original
I played a bit of Dishonored 1 in VR with Vorpx. It was cool, even with limited resolution and fov. I'm sure 2 works way better.
I feel like vampire masquerade justice could have been that game for stand alone VR, but they dropped the ball.
My hype meter cant go any higher, Captain!
I'M GIVING HER ALL SHE'S GOT!
4:05 "and certainly not mindless" *plays a clip of him repeatedly punching an enemy in the face*
game looks great though
Glad to have my longstanding appreciation of Colossus finally acknowledging by someone who knows what they are talking about! ☺️
Once again, Beardo is costing me money by his honest enthusiasm. I want to have that fun too!
I don't think any VR content creator who gets to sample the goods early is honest...
Otherwise one of the competitive ones of which out of all of them they're surely must be a couple.... would have done the rest of us gamers a solid and let us know that the quest 3s tracking was absolute dogshit.... instead of glossing over it all together and singing nothing but praises.... tell some of them even have the nerve to just suggest did we buy the quest Pro controllers to combat the issue without actually proving that the issue would be resolved... when the issue shouldn't exist in the first place as control should have been the absolute first Focus and the most important one Graphics may be important but Precision control is Paramount...
might have also mentioned that the pancake lenses were as sensitive as a clitorus.... and that not only could the lens coating not be wiped off and reapplied, but that you couldn't get replacement lenses either.... but hey the thing only cost $700.... why would we want to be aware of any of that before investing?
i fucking screamed shadow of the colossus lmao, best game of my childhood
Shadow Of The Colossus is hands down my favorite game ever 👍
Can not wait to play this one. I really want to see how it looks on the quest 3 standalone
Absolutely loved playing Shadow of the colossus. So excited for Behemoth now!
SOTC had SO MANY SECRETS!
I'll put that one on my list, thanks.
I have a pretty big fear of giant things. Especially giant living things.
This game looks like a nightmare for me in the absolute best way possible. I cannot wait to play.
Finally I get to see some actual gameplay of this game. I got sick of seeing pre rendered trailers popping up on my facebook. Glad to see that it's promising and looks good.
Awesome dude. Looking forward to this on psvr2
This reminds me of what I felt playing Jet Island which is so good for 1 indie dev. Giant SoC scale with monsters you have to climb with similar hooking/swinging mechanic (plus jets). Only game that has made me feel real vertigo/fear for a prolonged time and as you said "uncomfortable", but not sick.
I'll never forget playing SotC with a friend back in the day. I distinctly remember fighting the small car-sized colossus in that area with all the pillars. Spinning the camera around and seeing this thing charge at us with animal-like movements, toppling everything in its path... It was hair raising.
i was hoping they would be at least twice the size of the dreddstag, and it's disappointed me that it doesn't struggle or move a whole lot, if people really would get motion sick (which imo if they've spent a decent amount of time moving in a vr headset then they shouldn't) they should just make this easy mode so the normal mode can be more intense which is what i believe it should be.
The fighting mechanics and fire effects look amazing
Jet Island has some huge bosses that could be climbed.
I think something was going around at Gamecon. Every VR UA-camr came back without a voice. Lol not joking.
Hundreds of people all shoving their grimy faces into the same VR headsets for each demo...
@@Whale-rm3fn Never even thought of how gross that is. My headset is a sweaty mess after I play. I really hope they were wiping those mfers down between sessions..
This looks so good I’m genuinely amazed that it’s going to be on PSVR2. I’ve gotten so used to all the most promising VR games only being on other platforms.
I'm so hyped for all of the new releases coming soon. I think my main three are behemoth, Batman Arkham shadow, and metro awakening, but I think that hitman 3, alien rouge incursion, zombie army, and a couple others have potential to be awesome, and I have actually played vendetta forever and can confirm that it is awesome
Big props to these devs for taking the risk to invest in a high quality VR game. It's a very smart move to make it playable on a standalone headset, but also offer an upgraded visual experience on PC. I can't wait to check it out, and that's coming from someone who very rarely steps away from racing of flying sims. I'm always rooting for VR devs to be successful because 1) I appreciate their work, and 2) The more people who get into VR, the more companies will invest in it, and the better VR will get as a whole. I won't be satisfied until we can jam a spike in the back of our heads and play like we're in the Matrix.
Bros VR is about to get lit with some amazing games this year and next.
Resident Evil 7 in VR is my favorite game of all time, I love the horror genre, but im terrified of heights for some reason, even in VR........& I pre ordered this physical game 😭
Hey, good safe way to work through it. Have you played The Climb 1 or 2? Also, Aircar was my 1st PCVR experience and freaked me out when I accidentally pitched the car forward.
@@tobiasmyers3505 he definitely hasn't played a series dedicated to climbing heights
I love Shadow of the Colossus! I can't wait for Behemoth!
Shadow of the Colossus was one of the most difficult 100% I ever got. I spent the better part of a year running Gaius' hard time attack before beating it..
I am so here for Shadow of the Colossus in VR. Absolute same wirh Arkham. Both games/series are so close to my heart
I'm so excited I may have just had a little wee😂 Get well soon m8👍
This game will scare the absolute shit out of me....Bring it! .....Walking dead was great this loooks epic!!!
That's clever how by making the BBEG much larger they can allow both SotC-like climbing mechanics while seeming to avoid a lot of the motion sickness it can bring. B&S tried a climbable boss with the golem and it definitely can create a good deal of motion sickness since you're being moved about more. This seems a lot smoother in that regard
Yeah jelly legs on the heights! The reason I got into VR was the fear and excitement I felt. Flat screen just doesn’t compare.
Beardo Benjo, awesome video keep up the good content
Looks so good! Thank you for hyping this, wow. Now it’s a must buy.
I hope showcasing the biggest baddest monster right off doesn’t let the rest of the game down. Also I hope the enemies don’t visibly swing through your block in the full release
When I saw you look up at that big monster I went wooooowwww!!!!
WOW! That looks incredible! I'm feeling that uneasy feeling in my throat just watching this video.
There was a level in To The Top that you have to climb to the top of a giant. It looks like they're around the same size. Thanks for putting this out there. I'm always looking for something to get me back in the headset.
Looks awesome seeing Armor falling off enemies when fighting!
Can't wait to play it on PCVR! :D
Same! Had my 4080 gaming pc, and quest 3 since feb, and been impatiently waiting for an amazing pcvr game! Finally getting close 😁
I had no idea about this game and I immediately fell in love.
Definitely excited for this one. Hope it performs well on quest 2
It is technically possible. Assassin's Creed Nexus looked great and performed okay even on Q2, and so did games like Tales from the Galaxy Edge and Red Matter 2 (I understand these had much smaller environments but I don't need Behemoth to look THAT good)
Being left handed, one thing that has to be available in everything if I get into VR is the ability to "re-hand" in games.
It's already bad in FPS's where the gun is always on the right. It's like game designers ignore 10% of the population, always.
I can’t wait, this last part of the year is going to be amazing for VR.both Quest 3 and PSVR2..Quest 3 is getting Batman and Hitman 2.PSVR2 is getting Arken Age and several games that came out previously on Quest.
We are all getting Behemoth,Alien Rouge Incursion,Wanderer,Metal Hellsinger,Metro Awakening,Arizona Sunshine Remake,Action Hero,Ember Souls,Vendetta Forever,Deep Cuts,Frenzies,etc
Things are about to crazy and everyone with a relevant headset will have some great games to look forward to.I’m personally most excited for Batman,Behemoth,Hitman 3,Metro Awakening,Alien Rouge Incursion and Metal Hellsinger.all 6 of these games are must have day one buys for me
It’s a crazy few months, personally I think VRs line up for Christmas 2024 is stronger than the flat games line up!
Should be an excellent few months for all VR users ❤️
@@BeardoBenjo I agree 100%
Man, Shadow looks sooo good. I played the remake earlier this year (I also played the original) and every time I see it, I am astounded at how good it looks! I would love some type of VR mode/mod/remake for this game! Roaming the countryside would be enough -- it is seriously magical.
Behemoth looks straight fantastic!
I take my hat of to skydance for even daring to take on a vision like this in VR, not many would and just stick to Shooting things. climbing in vr is hard to pull of especially rope stuff , and I know because I just started developing a climbing system for a VR game Im now trying to bring to life, the Idea is one that I have had a few years But I was waiting for my skills and Vr Tool set to catch up. It should get people and a certain community excited when I finally reveal footage,
This looks outstanding!
wow mentioning that the ps2 version is best gets my thanks. the water and the special appearance made the original truly amazing even to this day. I still have my copy. that year also brought Monster Hunter Dos which introduced me to Magic Slide and the glories of simple console hacks.
I need a mode without checkpoints, nothing would be more immersive and intense than knowing you've got to scale the titan in one attempt with no room for error.
Looks amazing, really looking forward to this one and Batman! Hope you feel better soon!.... Pizza would be Great; don't think you're live anywhere near Nottingham though...! 😁
To many bandits in Sherwood Forest 😊
batman, behemoth, metro, hitman, aliens, gundam, yugioh and more. I'm so exited for VR right now. Never have i preordered any game but currently i have all flat2vr games available to preorder and all major games already preordered. Vote with your dollar. Also been a patreon to team beef and flat2vr and other vr modders for a year now. Exciting times for sure
Love the crazy horns on that thing
This just made me even more excited for this to come out. Hope your better soon.❤
I got so fucking giddy when I recognized the Shadow of the Colossus footage 😭
Hype! Hope it has replayability and tons of content!
I'm really crossing my fingers on this one, because it looks amazing, and not just the SotC-style boss battles, but the regular combat too. However, I can't help but notice that it looks like it's running at a low framerate on what I presume to be an RTX 4090. The Quest 3's GPU is roughly equivalent to a GTX 1060 in raw horsepower, and the Q2 slightly less than half of that. That's a very big thing to ask of such meagre GPU's, even with heavy optimization and upscaling.
This really does look AMAZING.
Honestly it was, my favourite demo from Gamescom for sure!
@@BeardoBenjo I think you'll not be surprised that I also LOVED Shadow of the Collosus and bought it day one because Ico had totally blown my mind and was my fav game! I was a little disappointed by gameplay footage of this game initially, because the cinematic cgi trailer was SO insanely good. I hope that the game can trend in the direction of that trailer, or maybe a sequel can. Nonetheless, I'm hoping this game will be a VR seller.
Man this really does look incredible. Feel better soon Benjo!
The only problem now is that we are still in August. November feels like 2 years away
Smoke some weed
Only 10 weeks away from the release date. Just forget about the game, and it'll be out before you even realise it.
That's too soon for me, I won't have anything to play it on still. Also I don't want to turn 20 yet 😭
Not when you're old like me. Lets goooo
Woah this looks cool! I’m personally excited most by Freeland VR tbh
Play the Clinb and the Climb 2, it was my first real VR inmersion feeling, getting up high and thinking, and feeling, if i fall now i'm fucked, and then you need to do a big jump!
I've seen enough. The combat looks great.
This is the attack on titan game we asked and didn't get. Gonna buy it day1 on steam.
Bro when I saw agro galloping around I kid you not I booted it up in seconds
God of War 3 Gaia intro memories are back! That climb reminded me of that game A LOT.
There are already beams and platforms struck to the behemoth for your convenience to climb😂
crazy. I loved shadows and I made a demo game in VR where you climbed a tall character to kill it. It was a hobby project and not done, but yes, I know how this feels as I made my monsters huge and climbing them while they walked was amazing feeling in VR. Too bad I'm too busy and one guy or else I could beat them to market and got some sales now till this comes out lol. Looking forward to trying this out, thx BB!
Praey for the gods was a pretty good shadows-like, I'd say.
BEHEMOTH looks awesome.
Very cool idea nice to see a new IP and taking a chance
I honestly can't wait for behemoth man. It looks so good
I love games that utilize climbing in VR but I am 6'5" and I always end up punching the ceiling or sticking my hand into a fan, I've had to resort to playing these games seated or outdoors
I trained myself to kneel on one knee before I throw grenades in VR so that I don't break my knuckles on the lights or ceiling....lol
@@skwydzee2716 Contractors: Showdown has a good grenade aim system that is not physics based.
Stopped watching when it got to the Dreddstag, because I really don't need to see how to deal with the biggest beast in the game before the game has even dropped. I mean seriously?!
I'm hyped enough already, I don't want spoilers! 😂
Looks very promising!
And here I was, promising myself I'd never again get hyped for a game before release... Thanks, Behemoth...
looks great
Ico and SOTC are some of my favorite games. I can’t wait for this game 😍
I NEED IT!!
Wow, so weird there is not a grappling hook from both hands. Even my little Unreal Engine game has that,.
The fact that it's on PCVR makes me so happy
HEAVY Skyrim vibes from this!!
Great video BB. It's just a shame that Skydance has revealed the biggest Behemoth in the game. Should've saved that and shown something smaller. Looking good though.
Shadow Of The Colossus, based on the footage shown here, looks to me like what a Zelda game should look like today, if the head guy didn't prefer it to look cartoony. He said he didn't like the look of some of them, such as Twilight Princess. And didn't want to revisit that style again. Much to the dismay of Zelda Twilight Princess fans, such as myself.
There was a tech demo form an E3 game show, that got leaked for what a Zelda game could look like on the Wii U. Long before the Switch came out. And the game looked like a Zelda game made with Unreal Engine 4. It looked great for it's time, and mad the look of Twilight Princess so last gen. You can imagine my disappointment to see the cel shading cartoony look of Breath of The Wild when it came out. Though I love the game, for it's game play. But I don't care much for it's style.
I would love to see a new modern Zelda game made, in the style of Shadow Of The Colossus. Seriously! But sadly, that is not likely ever to happen. Next best thing is just to play Shadow Of The Colossus.
Sadly, it's not out for the PC, and can't play it on PC without using PCSX2. The head dev said, it will not come out for PC, because there is not enough interest in it being a PC game. Good thing I have a PS2 and PS3.
As for BEHEMOTH. Yes. I so want to play that.
I think you write the most insightful scripts to explain games that you play.
Great video Ben!
Sold! I couldn't even finish the video because I want to discover stuff for myself!
Now I need a VR set😢
looks great cant wait to play it but idk man that climbing stuff is not why i want to play this game. climbing in vr is easily my least favorite thing to do, and to be honest it's the only thing i don't like doing in vr. at least the climbing in this game has a purpose so who knows maybe i'll like it.
Yeah, not just ladders.
TWD S&S provides me with more immersive melee than dedicated games like Swordsman for example.
Yeah. Pushing and grabbing with hands and having to use correct force on headshots and managing groups of enemies.
play jet island. from what i'm seeing here the giant monsters from that game are pretty similar to the ones in that game size wise. it's has a really fun movement system with a grappling hook hoverboard and jet boosters
AAA and priced correctly. I'll be buying this day 1
Sky dance are amazing
ok, so when we getting pizza and beer? lol! I'm so excited for Behemoth!
00:35 we could grab a beer
Call of the behemoth 😂
Why cant we just have titanfall2 in VR? that's the game we want...
