- December 9th, 1984. The Firm's second show at the legendary London Hammersmith Odeon. I was 22 years old. This was only our 9th show, 3 months before the first album was released. I love seeing the vibe and the chemistry between the band members. My solo evolved as the shows went on.
Beautiful Solo, Tony. Just think, this is from 1984, and YOU are still able in 2023, to keep Rockin' and Pouring it on. Fantastic there Son.
Thank you. I’m very fortunate and grateful to still be doing it.
My favorite bassist of all time. I love that he is so different than any one else. Much love Tony.
Truly appreciate that. Thank you!!
Tony Franklin, you are amazing, sir! I admire your playing!
I truly appreciate that! Thanks so much
I was fortunate enough to see you 5 months later at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford CT. I was 18 at the time and being able to see Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers, Chris Slade and yourself was a dream come true. Thanks for the memories.💙
I love hearing that. Thank you
I was at that show as well. Great concert great memories. Bought my first fretless not long after.
I'm from Windsor, CT. I was 24 and there too. Radioactive was fresh in the airwaves. I had been playing bass since 77. I subsequently bought a Tony Franklin Precision Bass in 2013. Quite a solid instrument.
I just received this DVD, and had to own this show.
The Firm was Brilliant!
No other bassist could have played better than you with these musicians.
Thank you for the music.
Wow. Amazing. Thanks so much
WOW!! It's a crime that your name isn't a household word when it comes to discussions about the greatest bass players!
You’re very kind. Thank you so much.
Tony, I saw The Firm in Atlanta on the first tour. Even being a massive fan of Mr. Paul Rodgers and being seated on the floor about twelve rows in front of Mr. Jimmy Page, you my friend were the most memorable part of the concert. And what a concert it was! Kudos!
That means so much. Truly. Much appreciated. I loved that band.
@@FretlessMonster Keep on rocking!
This the very man that made me take up the bass. Thank you tony. You are my inspiration and at 49 im still playing and am in aww of your playing. Thank you!
That’s amazing. Thanks for that.
Carry on having fun with the bass! 👏🏻🤩
Wow great chops
Tony Franklin удивительное исполнение. Благодарю.. Всех благ Вам.
Awesome solo Tony ! I remember seeing the Firm in concert and hearing your bass solo live and in person ! I was so amazed and into it ! Thank you for the great music
That means a lot! Thanks so much
I saw this tour great music and bass solo was off the hook!🎸🎶
Thanks so much 🤩
I need this entire show on Blu-ray ........ so just talk to your boy Jimmy, and make that happen.
👍🏻🤷♂️🤩
Love this historical moment. So much history, as well as just great music at hand. Cheers.
Thanks! It’s fun to relive it!
@@FretlessMonster It's great memories for you man!
A Fretless MusicMan Sabre? Thats a rare sight. Lovely bass work as always by TF. Please schedule The Firm reunion tour soon.
Great bass but I didn’t love it. Couldn’t get my true sound. I let it go a couple years later
Smokin Kick Ass Awesome Fretless Bass Solo 🔥🎸✌️🎶👊
Ty ✌️❤️
I went to a concert by the firm to see Jimmy. I left taking about Tony
Wow. Amazing! Thanks for that. 🙃🙏🏻🤩
Thanks, that's premiere!
🤩👍🏻
Rock history right there Tony !! Excellent ..🤩🤘🏻
🙏🏻🔥
As spectacular as I remember!
You’re too kind. Thank you
@@FretlessMonster and you're too modest. I've seen literally hundreds of concerts and dozens of great and legendary musicians and your performance was a stand out.
I truly appreciate that!!!
The Firm was one of my favorite super groups, Tony! Love your content!
Thank you. I love hearing that 🙏🏻🤩
@@FretlessMonster 🤘👍 Thank YOU, friend! It's my pleasure!
This is pretty impressive! I love the firm! I think the most impressive thing I've ever seen you do and the one that took the biggest balls was when you broke out of clarinet and did a solo in the middle of a live show of blue murder ❤
Thank you. 👍🏻🤩
It was so much fun doing the clarinet solo during the show. I just wanted to do something different and fun. 🙃
I've been a big fan since (must be) very near the beginning of Tony's professional career. & those that know you (or have been paying better than average attention) know of your love for Jaco. & it certainly shines here!!
You ARE your OWN Frettless Monster!
Thank you! Jaco ignited my Fretless flame!!
I carry his torch in my own way. God bless Jaco!
Tony, num mundo perfeito, onde todos os sonhos bons se realizassem, era de ver e ouvir você fazendo um cover de Howard Jones,da música "No One To Blame",1986.Seria simplesmente mágico e lindo!
Abraços do Brasil!🤘🏻🤝👏🤘🏻
Agree! Cheers from Brasil
Tony... much love from Detroit.. you played at Joe Lewis with the Firm.. Great memories!
I remember the Joe Lewis. Such great days. All the best.
Wasn't much interested in fretless until I accidentally discovered Tony.
Wow. Amazing
All those harmonics, man, you are amazing ❤
Thanks so much. They’re fun to use.
Sweet❤
🙏🏻🤩
Big Hair Tony!! OMG Love it. Great clip Tony. Thanks for sharing it with us. Have a great week man.
Haha. Thanks! The solo got longer. And the hair got bigger!! 😂👍🏻🤩
@@FretlessMonster Do I detect a Trace-Elliot with gobs of Compression?
A kickass solo and always is a pleasure seeing and hearing you create your musical art. I was a whopping 15 when the Firm came out, had been playing a jazz precision for 2 years and was blown away by the sound of your bass. You sir gave me the fretless bug!! Thank you for the inspiration and for all the kickass music in The Firm and especially Blue Murder.
Thank you for that! Amazing to hear and much appreciated. Have fun with your Fretless!! 🤩👏🏻
@@FretlessMonster Thanks so much. I've had lots of fun with it. It's an ovation applause acoustic fretless. That one and my Jazz Precision are all I have left from my playing days.
Same great smile!
🤩🙃😇
Wild and at 22, it's a great solo, I would have guessed 42, by the skin as the lighting is a bit dim. Awesome!
🤩👏🏻😇
I can't speak it in English. Тони, с одуванчиком на голове и в майке-алкоголичке. Это бесценно!
👏🏻🤩
Amazing !!
Thanks!! 🤩
Mind-blowing!
👍🏻🤩
Ahhh, those crazy 80s! Tony, you ever consider going back to that 80s hair-do?
Ha! No I’ll leave it back in the 80’s. Not very practical for these days. A lot of maintenance
Monstrous!
🤩🙃
It’s so beautiful! Amazing! Unreal cool bass solo!!!
Appreciate that!
Dynamite stuff
The outfit may have been called The Firm, but I was inclined to say that was a very firm solo, Tony.
Ha. Great! Thank you 😊 🤩
My pleasure, Tony.
Q: What do you call a collection of attorneys that cannot be budged or intimidated?
A: A firm firm.
Slap on a fretless, must have taken a toll on the fingerboard by the end of the tour.
Nah. Ebony fingerboard
Hey Tony, to paraphrase Dire Straits - was that your own hair?
Haha. Yes. All mine. 🤩
Amazing stuff mate and all this time you didn't even notice there was a poodle sat on your head hahaha.
😂🤷♂️🙃
You've lost that Stingray Sabra . I've never seen this gem ,Thank you Mr.tony for this post. This is the very explosion of MrTony's talent at this era.
Is Mr Tony given enough solo time and enough equipment during the show? Thank, you.
Thank you.
I liked that bass but didn’t love it. I couldn’t get my true sound.
I sold it in 1987.
My solo evolved and got longer as the tour went on. 👏🏻🤩
Thank, you for your kind respond . I feel reliefed other band menbers are gentlemen you wre treated correctly as the talent worth .
But guaranty satisfied enough? (笑)
Awesomeness, Tony! What Fx were you using? Love the slaps on the fretless, akin to slapping an upright!❤
Thanks so much.
Gosh I don’t recall. It was some kind of rack mount chorus and delay. Long gone. It was pretty primitive
A few minutes of Tony Franklin displaying why he was worthy of playing with The Sorcerer!
The cool thing about The Firm was the unique sound, (bass and vocals) not an LZ imitation like Coverdaledale Page was.
Would have loved to hear their progression going into several albums more Jimmy's Deathwish work was underrated in this time frame also, there was a lot of raw greatness ahead.... and then nothing.....
For Chris Slade fans check out the unreal Solar Fire album by Manfred Mans Earth Band
You’re very kind. Thanks for that.
I loved The Firm. I too wish we’d given it more time to evolve and grow. Wasn’t meant to be.
Sladey’s amazing! 👏🏻🔥
💥👏
🤩👏🏻
Tony , just curious, did you ever have any interest in an ALEMBIC series ll bass ? I think the bass sounds really strong.
I’ve never liked the look of the Alembic basses. That’s just me. Heck I don’t even own a Jazz Bass. I’m P J set up all the way! 😊🤪🤷♂️
Hi Mr Tony. What pedals are you using in this solo? Thanks.
Some kind of rack mount chorus. And rack mount delay. I honestly don’t know what kind!! 😩🤷♂️😂
Sounds like music from Michael Winner Film
Nice! Thank you
Showoff... :D
🤷♂️😂
