@@METALFAN4EVS He sometimes picks with index, middle, and rig finger. I play bass, but when I try to add the 3rd finger to the mix, I have a difficult time coordinating them.
Anyone else catch that impromptu tribute to Bernard Edwards? This Concert was filmed at the Budokan back in 1996..Bernard did his very last concert with Chic right there at the Budokan in April of 1996!!(he passed away the next morning in bed back at the hotel) God bless Billy Sheehan for playing Bernard’s licks there a minute. R.I.P to Mr. Edwards and a well deserved pat on the back to Mr. Sheehan.
Amazing. Mr Big is a Legendary band with amazing skills of their personel. Paul, Billy, Pat, and Eric. So much love for all of you Guys. Love and Do Music In every ways you want
I'm not familiar with much of Gilbert's work but I think he's a great teacher and just an awesome person. I like his look from this time. He looks like a 70's Southern Rock guitarist.
Where have I heard this before?? For the live of God I can’t remember. Some parts are from that compilation of guitars that ruled the world. And some parts from pauls albums years later.
Billy vs Paul. As a guitarist, and quite good, I might brag. I love Paul's playing. But as a Guitarist, who also has much experience on the bass, I have to say the Billy blows my mind. As all modern musicians and instrumentalists go, I have to say that Billie makes the greatest Impression on me. More than any bass, or six string guitarist. Just a total mind fuck!
WTF... Good old Bones - nasty and wicked yet so humanly warm as well - his tone is absolutely incredible... I remember seeing him with his earlier band Talas when they opened for King Edward on VH's Fair Warning tour... Back when he had put out High Speed on Ice. When I bought that album I just shook my head in awe man thinking finally some dude was playing Jaco - esque in a rock format. I was totally blown away. He is also played all the bass on Greg Howe's debut album and let me tell you Bone's tone is so unique it takes all of 6 seconds to realize who it is... Then of course he blows us away on those 2 DLR albums. Elephant Gun - that is some sick fucking shit man... Yes indeed, Bones is like a 50 year MaCallen Scotch - top fucking shelf all the way...
@@davidkiefer9875 I'm not sure about the tattoo - he has a planet design on his left forearm, which was added to during the 90s from its original, rather crude rendering. On his right forearm is the word 'Relentless', which is a relatively recent addition. He did have 'Bones' skateboarding stickers on some of his basses.
*** I'm on a quest to get Mr. Big inducted! Write to: Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame / 1100 Rock & Roll Blvd / Cleveland, OH 44114, USA. We the F-A-N-S owe it to them & to the memory of Pat Torpey to make this happen. They are long-deserving of this 31+yrs achievement & recognition. Get your friends to write in also, the more nominations that are sent in, then they Will get inducted, finally, where they truly do belong!! Thank You!!
@jadyner I think its Sugarhill Gang because on Queen's riff the last part pitchwise goes up and loops back to the beginning, however Rapper's Delight at the end of the riff it goes on the D 3 4 then opens notes on the A string. I'm not sure but thats my opinion, they are very similar riffs. sorry if i didn't make much sense.
@761Wqr and @FlaKey511 it's actually Good Times by Chic which is the basis for Another one bites the dust, Around the world by Daft Punk, Rappers Delight, and various other hits.
Billy is a bass god. He gets such speed and precision by using three fingers. I would love to hear him play in a death metal band. Most likely to never happen though.
Every musician on that stage are all just straight freaking monsters
Agree. Even Pat Torpey, may he rest in peace
Billy makes the bass an absolutely equal force to anything any guitarist can crank out. Amazing playing!
Pudsy440 I agree!
He’s pretty kick ass. Has that Steve Harris finger pick style too. Awesome.

Why is this a VS? This is Paul and Billy doing what they do!
You’ll be missed Pat Torpey (RIP)
If you want to have a VS how about Billy Sheehan VS Victor Wooten now that would be one difficult contest to judge!
Bach would be like "now these guys rock"
This guy brings Bass guitar into the Lead Guitar spotlight :O
Great tone from both of them!
Billy doesn't stay on a lick, mode, register... always moving on. I LIKE
FREAKIN ANIMALS !!!!!!!! WOO-HOOOOOOOOOOO

Ah some Screamin Blues O Mania! From Intense Rock 2! I had no idea he played this live with Mr Big. This is crazy epic, thankyou much.
@MelodicRockLover the riff is from Paul's "Screaming blues omania" which was the closing song for his instructional video intense rock 2..
My head is shredded.. unbelievable
Pat Torpey has the best hair
Adrie Pramudya his hair is smoother than most of the ladies 😊😊😊
During the solo Sheehan looks like a mad scientist. Damn.
Sheehan is a bass wizard! 🧙♂️
It's Screamin blues o'mania :D

I like how Paul can make even a random baggy-ass striped shirt look cool somehow, lol ;)
That's cuz in reality hes has a large statcher. Yes hes skinny but not small
excelente dupla! !!.
That was one hell of a bass solo.

Actually, it's originally from the song "Good Times" by Chic. It was sampled by the Sugarhill Gang for Rapper's Delight.
When exactly do you hear this song in this video?
Gunnar Karlsson the bass line at 3:12
Played in tribute to Chic's bass player Bernard Edwards who had very recently died after a gig at the same venue.
i thought that was queen's another one bites in the dust bass line intro at 3:10
Grande billy

In 36 years of closely following Sheehan's career, I have never before heard him referred to as 'Bones'. What's the origin of this nickname?
@@seethroughhead505 It's some nickname he had when he was younger. It's actually tattooed on his forearm...

As a guitarist I am much more impressed with Billy because he does shit that I could never do.
