A royal/ball python that's in a proper enclosure with room... I nearly fainted. Loved this and looking forward to your species highlights. I have a 3ft H, 2ft D, 3ft L planned and am really drawn to the thumbnails. Any recommendations? Would be my first frogs but not my first exotics or bio vivs.
@@NorthernFrogger Sounds weird to say but it sounds like either the female fartdogs are producing eggs with defects or the male fartdogs have weak sperm or not fertilizing the eggs at all. Either that or something about their environment isn't quite right.
I recently became interested in dart frogs and I still have quite a bit to learn. What are the green cylinders and what is their purpose? 7:41 of your video. Thanks
Quick question, how do you do your hardscape? Do you use foam and epoxy? I noticed you had a thin layer of something on the sides of your tanks. Any advice on how to get the lush look you have in your tanks?
I usually use Great Stuff (Pond & Stone because it's black), with a few pieces of cork bark or other wood set into it. Then I cover it with aquarium safe silicone and press in some background mix (eco-earth/plantation soil, coco-husk, and forest moss). I have a video coming out soon on how I did one of the 20g aquariums and the two R. fantastica vivariums. As for getting them lush, it usually just takes time, but make sure you start with a good substrate mix, use lots of springtails and isopods, and be consistent with lighting and humidity. I highly recommend lighting timers and an automatic mister to help dial those things in.
All the dart frogs are pretty similar in terms of temperature, humidity, feeding, and basic enclosure set-up. There's quite a bit of size variation between species, and some are more terrestrial vs. arboreal, so the ideal size and orientation may vary depending on the species. There are also differences in personality and behaviour, with some frogs being much bolder and more outgoing in the vivarium, while some are shy and rarely seen. Some are also much more territorial than others, affecting how many you will be able to keep together. Keep in mind with personality, there are general trends among species, but there are always exceptions as each individual has their own personality. As a beginner dart frog, I always recommend the Dendrobates leucomelas, as they are usually fairly bold, tend to do well in groups, and are possibly the hardiest of the darts in terms of tolerating temperature and humidity swings.
Somewhat difficult, but it can be done. They are listed under CITES so they require special permits and inspections by Fish and Wildlife to be shipped internationally. Last time I looked into importing from the U.S. it was going to be about $1000 or so in permits, inspections, and shipping costs.
@@NorthernFrogger its amazing now how Cites has crawled into the pockets of breeders and exporters worldwide. They make more money than the senders do. How do frogs get to Canada? Likely from Europe.
Hi, nice to meet you . Beautiful frog tour video, congratulations for your beautiful channel ... fantastic frogs very nice show collection I joined 8 0 8 with pleasure ... and thumbs up ... if you like it I'll wait for you on my aquarium channel, nature, animals, underwater ... Excellent introductory video! In sexing frogs, I have heard that the male has rounder heart-shaped toes and the female has squarer toes. What do you think?
That does tend to be true, although I think it's really only reliable for tinctorius, and even then there are exceptions, so I don't recommend relying solely on that or any one method for sexing, but rather considering all of the different cues as a whole. I'm hoping to put out a detailed video about sexing soon!
well, I did some research and turns out most dart frogs are not poisonous in captivity because in the wild they get their poison by eating different ants and bugs with poison. But in captivity they don't eat that stuff so most breeds lose their poison, with an exception of a few breeds who don't.
good frog room!
Yes!!!!! Welcome back👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Welcome back! Great to see how your frog room is evolving and growing!
Really enjoying your channel content. Thank you for sharing.

4:58 the eggs may have been eaten by the frogs, bumblebee dart frogs do that sometimes
Thanks for the reply! They aren't being eaten though, the eggs are still there, they just mold over almost immediately every time.

@@ey8648 what are fartdogs?

What LED fixtures are those at 5:39?
Great tour. Thanks!
Glad ur back..thought u had quit making videos
That was some nice detailed tour there! How many froglets do you have? Do they all fit in the 10 and 5 gallon grow outs?
Nice !!
Also, love the intro! ❣️

They are film canisters, and they provide spots for the frogs to lay eggs and deposit tadpoles.
Northern Frogger 🐸 thanks!
Where do you sell your froglets?

Could you do a tadpole care vid
Yes, I am planning to do one. No promises on when exactly...
Are all the frogs fairly similar in how you keep them, or are there any that would be more suitable for someone to keep as a pet?

How difficult for U.S. buyers to import from you or other Canadian breeders?

Where do you sell your froglets?
I usually sell them on Kijiji, sometimes I sell them to pet stores. Are you looking for some?
I would be interested in some froglets, but I live in the USA.
