LG CX 48 would love to have your take on that. LG really leads the way on OLED panels I think they are on GEN7 now in OLED. No one can really compete. So LG should create a gaming centric brand that just does Gsync, Freesync, VRR, 4k, 120Hz, and OLED in 27, 38 ultrawide, and 43 inch format. I think they would really dominate a large segment of the monitor market if they did that. I would say yes but if you notice it turns off a bit often then I would not recommend it for examination. Other than that it is an ideal workstation monitor. It works best in a chilly environment where the chill prevents it from overheating. As a workstation monitor this one is ideal for things like engineering projects and medical research and of course if like to use it to produce creative projects, etc. In the words of The Johnson Factor, this is an ´absolutely beautiful and amazing´monitor. You mentioned multiple times that you are concerned about when driving games at below 48 Hz, since that is the bottom of the stated refresh range. Here’s the thing: my understanding was that LFC (low framerate compensation) is achieved when a monitor can dial its refresh rate from a minimum to 2.4 times that minimum (48*2.4=115.2). In this case, this monitor aces that with a range of 48 to 144 Hz. So, by my understanding, if a monitor can display any framerate in that range, it can also display any framerate below the minimum by doubling frames as quickly as if it ramped all the way down. That means that for all monitors which are certified G-Sync compatible or better, or FreeSync with LFC, it doesn’t really matter what the minimum refresh rate the panel hits is because the monitor can display in-time a signal anywhere from 1 Hz to its maximum refresh rate. Is this incorrect?
hi,i really like your review,i am in Canada,i also watched the review you did on Asus xg438q. I got a open box xg438q at around 700 us dollars, do you think it is good price? The acer one is too expensive.thank you
Any suggestions for a good 32-43" monitor that I could use as a 2nd ext display for work & gaming on a rtx 3060 laptop? (not looking for oled displays)
"some much less expensive monitors are able to run in the 2ms range" From the research I have done the best you can expect to get is 1-2ms of pixel response time and 2-3ms of input delay. Cumulative 3-5ms at best from cable to screen. Have you tested monitors giving you 1-2ms with your latency tester?
Great video. Just nice looking for a gaming monitor with hdr 1000. Just a quick question. I intend to use it on my series x via hdmi. I know it only support 4k 60hz but If i use it with my pc via hdmi or dp does it support lower resolution like 1080p or 1440p 120hz ? I dun mind pc gaming at those resolution.
I'm looking for a monitor that is 43 or bigger. That is 4K. 60hz minimum. 2 years I still can't get one in my hands. Almost worth a plane ticket to Korea to buy one directly and ship it back.
Would love to see someone try this TV as a monitor... claims 120 hz native 4k...LG 49NANO85 49 inch Nano 85 Series 4K at around $600 on newegg, bestbuy, etc
I used this monitor for a while, though lovely in some ways, the smearing while gaming or scrolling can be really obnoxious, and along with the BGR layout text at 100% scaling at 4K, even when set to BGR clear type, can look really bad. Also the RGB strips are nice but no magnetic attachment, no provided two sided sticky stuff either, so ultimately a large chore. Finally, the box is HUGE, way bigger than you’d expect for 43”. So while the large, bright, vivid screen looks great, the drawbacks are a few too many, and I ended up selling it. Now waiting for maybe an excellent 32” hdmi 2.1 4K120+ screen. One day!
do you also have this problem with Battlefield V? if I set the monitor to 120Hz and then back to 144Hz then this comes up: drive.google.com/file/d/12N5J2M92gGSHDgYNFXPc-wpMMw2mUR0n/view?usp=sharing I changed the monitor and tried another graphic card, the problem is still there, what could that be ?
Why the double down on the G-Sync term when what this monitor supports is actually Adaptive-Sync. The term GSync needs to go away if there isn't a specialized Nvidia controller in it.
Looking for a good monitor myself. 32 inch, 4k, non curved, 60Hz for 2 general purposes: Scrolling and skimming and reading 100's of pages of text a day (I work as an editor) and "slow" strategy and RPG games with maximum picture quality. I don't need 120 or 240 Hz, I just want pretty. Turns out it's actually not so easy to find. I red about a dozen monitors but meh, everyone has something bad to say about any monitor. so I am sticking with my old ASUS blurry 1440p thing.
Asus ROG PG43UQ it's pretty decent for how I see it and it's around $1500. 43", 4K, 144hz, HDR1000. It's basically the evolution of the XG438Q you already reviewed a couple of years ago. The only downside for me personally it's the brightness, a minumum of 175 nits it's definitely a bit too much for me, to have on a desk anyway.
Don't worry -- got some OLED reviews coming. But the're TVs, not monitors, so there are major downsides other than the big OLED upside.

Any suggestions for a good 32-43" monitor that I could use as a 2nd ext display for work & gaming on a rtx 3060 laptop? (not looking for oled displays)
Wendell knows his monitors (thumbs up)
"some much less expensive monitors are able to run in the 2ms range" From the research I have done the best you can expect to get is 1-2ms of pixel response time and 2-3ms of input delay. Cumulative 3-5ms at best from cable to screen. Have you tested monitors giving you 1-2ms with your latency tester?
box dimension please
Great video. Just nice looking for a gaming monitor with hdr 1000. Just a quick question. I intend to use it on my series x via hdmi. I know it only support 4k 60hz but If i use it with my pc via hdmi or dp does it support lower resolution like 1080p or 1440p 120hz ? I dun mind pc gaming at those resolution.
getting this for 390 euro atm , is it worth at this price ? quite a sharp decline in price in 2 years
Where is it available at that price?

I have the 120hz Asus Strix 43" on my 6900xt Red Devil. Awesome experience.
Is there any Ghosting/blur seen as reported by many reviewers
@@Docan690 There is a bit of ghosting but you have to really be looking for it.
One day!
I just ordered the Acer Nitro xv322qk 32" 4k HDMI 2.1 available from Best buy

do you also have this problem with Battlefield V? if I set the monitor to 120Hz and then back to 144Hz then this comes up:

I changed the monitor and tried another graphic card, the problem is still there, what could that be ?
Am waiting for that Asus mini led 32 4k monitor. Not sure if it would be 2 g though lol
Does this mean we can look forward to the Korean nockoffs anytime soon. My wasabi mango uhd480 is showing its age.
Still leaning towards the 43in 144hz ASUS. But great review.
KVM URL?
It's on the level1tech store site, I'd link it but idk if my comment will be automatically be removed.
