With all the compromised Chinese hardware that has been installed in all manner of infrastructure I'm concerned about the e-waste being created if and when the hardware is replaced. Is any of that Chinese hardware able to be just firmware flashed or maybe even have chips replaced with trusted code and the hardware can still be used, instead of being disposed of? This seems criminally wasteful on an international-industrial-economic scale.
