One thing I miss in Beam that is in RoR are the tons and tons of heavy equipment and truck mods. Beam has way more cars and other light vehicles, but messing with big rigs was so much fun. Also, winches and ropables. Loved getting stuck and then making myself unstuck with the help of another rig lol

I remember RoR being more offroad, driving heavy trucks and cranes to load crates and stuff. And the soft body physics applied to bridges too, you could see them flex when you crossed and sometimes even break!
About the Multiplayer Server you went on: "Any Map" literally means you can choose whatever map you want and play on it with your friends if they choose the same one. Other players on the server might have other maps loaded, that's why you did not see the other players on the server.

Back in 2007 or 2008 I had played this game, the low poly models as you have come across is probably for lower hardware spec pcs at that time, I had a Pentium dual core with no graphics card in the pc, when I used to spawn the vehicles in this game, It Never spawn or even if it spawned the softbody feature didn't worked atall due to my hardware, so I just used to play with lowpoly model, that Lowpoly BUS model 15:11 brings back all my memories, thank you making this video

I used to play ROR a bunch! The driving and flying were so gratifying. I loved setting up scenarios on the map and put various emergency vehicles and cranes to lift crashed vehicles onto flatbeds. So many hours spent on all the maps! 😎👍🏼

I first played this game in 2012. The lag is an inherent part of the experience because the old engine can't handle the complex soft-body physics unlike BeamNG's engine.
That's my favourite game doubtlessly and recently they just updated it with ai-controlled cars! That's very cool and more satisfying on crushing the cars!

I, admittedly, play BeamnNG far more these days but still take some time to give RoR some love, as well. Too bad the RoR forums turned out to be an absolutely toxic environment. Lot of egotistical moderators, gatekeepers and flamewars killed the community in the end.

RoR was better in terms of vehicle variety. It has many trucks and heavy machinery like cranes, excavators, tow trucks. BeamNG is mainly focused on cars, driving, racing, and crashing. Unfortunately.
In forza horizon you can actually activate the realistic mode and it gives you more points but you can damage your car technically or however you say it

Carmageddon 2 was 1998 and yes it also had soft body physics. I made a bunch of cars and stuff for it back in the early 2000’s as well

BeamNG is a sequel for me.
Framerates weren't that bad, but if there were too many splines, it would lag out.
