+cedfri you wouldn't consider them a swac band?? If they got a football team surely thats the conference they would be in... and are you also saying that "SWAC" is an overall style, and if so, how can you accuse them of copying one band/drumline's style??
+kelvonb09 Not only are they copying the style, they're flat out playing other drum line's cadences. For the most part, every "SWAC" style school displays their own unique identity. Which ones are actually good is a whole other story, but at least they're all distinct in some way. I look at dega and I'm like, "I've seen this all before, but better". So I, along with a lot of people are just waiting for them to find their own style
+Ajizzlesoe13 Dega drumline play their own originals. Show a clip of them playing a cadence from somebody else? I have about 5 former students at Dega . . . .2 on the drumline!
I think they did a good job my college band is no where big as them, seeing and hearing big bands are always exciting, i dont care who they sound like it's hard to get numbers like that and maintain that size each year. I don't care if they favor SU, their name on that uniform says DEGA and that's all that matters. So good job Dega from CSU.
+2coolfrom93rd All in all as a professional musician 1st, former band member , and .student, We are and were Entertainers not for our selves but the fans . If the product is not benefiting or entertaining to sum folks taste LETS hEAD TO the concession stand is always a good venue LOL !
I never heard about this band until 2 years ago when they came to Jackson, MS. and I have one thing to say about them....... Bring them to the SWAC!!!! I love this band!
i expect no less from any facet of the historic talladega college. congratulations talladega college band on upholding the high standards and tradition of talladega college. john oliver, "world famed", gram fam, tiger alum, montgomery,al
I'm SWAC all day but they still look and sound better than a LOT of other programs. They are creating an upset in the marching band community and that is how they're gonna move right on up, haters create and provide free publicity and like it or not Dega's name is out there.
I'm an Aristocrat for life and I totally agree with the previous comment. These cats are total Southern Wantabees! Rather sad. But, not a bad Southern-ish sound.
They have to work on their fieldshow routines and also knowing what songs are for the field and what songs are for the stands. Overall it was okay show! 👏👏👏
i know imitation is the best form of flattery, but this is becoming a sad, sad JOKE right now. they are copying Southern in a BAD WAY. why are there elements of the HONDA in this show? when I think they couldn't get any worse and they DO.
PLEASE!! Can we stop comparing them to SU, JSU and every other band. Do they play instruments, do they march down the field, do they dance?? The same can be said for all the others. Now if you gonna say, well they march/dance like SU, then show us where SU invented the dance, or the head nod or whatever else yall accuse them of copying. The director went to Southern. Let them grow. End of story. Stop with the comparisons.
The dance wop wop was invented by a juke.. That's that lil rock u be seeing them do on like tuba breaks.. I know this because the juke that invented it is my crab brother.. Travis shropshire
+jason watson and I appreciate that history lesson. That's what I expect from all of us college educated band enthusiasts. If all comments were that informational and not so biased, we could all have a better picture of what dega is doing. But my point of asking was for us to understand that while many things in marching band are considered a bands' style, no hbcu created marching as we know it today or in previous years. I can't knock dega for not being original yet and I hope their style will develop, but the conversation has to change from disrespect to the criticism you exemplified. Thank you.
damn that disco inferno was loud as shit! good shit though. hunker down and figure out that if you can't find the D on there uniforms that's because its everybody mouth
Hating ass niggas always gotta bring SU in the conversation... But anyways....great show Degs...some clean up to do as far as the routines goes but that college sound is definitely there. Regardless of what negative shit people say, keep more stuff like this and more, especially the sound 💪👌👏
Looking and wondering how old some of you are who left those ignorant ass comments. Then i thought about it my nephew who is a freshman in this band has more since you. #PROUDAUNTY
The dance routine needs some better choreography. The routine itself was a Iittle choopy and didn't flow. It wasn't really a TRUE dance routine. Lots of standing still while playing and bopping horns. With the exception of the tuba breaks, there wasn't much movement while playing. Keep working.
Although the band director come from southern it would be natural to expect to see bits and pieces of southern.... but this is a direct water down copy of southern style unacceptable
+Jayy Warren what else can you expect with a band full of band directors and students from other colleges?? Quit hating, sit back, and enjoy the progress
Degas percussion please give WT style back, this clone of SU, JSU and the SWAC... Frankenstein "It's Alive"
Goes to show y'alls poo ass bands can't keep members

+Lil2Kold04 I don't have to show a clip. the cadence they played marching off the field was from su drumline
Good show DEGA and good luck to ALL of our HBCU marching bands. Remember they are OUR schools. Let's support them.

TC is a force in the making i just feel like once they find they own identity it's over for many. Good for a young program ! So I give them props

They came a long way but sound good to be a 4 year band program
The trombones on Sweet Love...very nice!
Soon they are going to have their identity but i see full potential in this band they gon make it.
I don't care what anyone says this was an excellent show! I'm so proud of Talladega!
DCI bands have the same style but as soon as a HBCU sounds like another its a problem 😂 black people are something else
Yall niggas hate on bama bands sooo much .... That's SAD and how do they copy su ??? I don't see it .... I see talladega marching band
I'm an Aristocrat for life and I totally agree with the previous comment. These cats are total Southern Wantabees! Rather sad. But, not a bad Southern-ish sound.
Good show, could use some cleaning up but nice way to start off the season. Fuck the haters and keep grinding

Well at least they FOUND the 50 this time lol
Don't get me wrong, they sound very very good. But there is still work that needs to be done with basic 8 to 5, and identity issues.
