Talladega is executing a Southern University inspired style, besides Miguel Bonds is a SU grad, and earned his stripes in New Orleans. If you can't admit they are an imitator, then I know a few old heads who can. Without a football team, I expect the band to only get better. Nothing wrong with giving credit...SU created this cranking mindset.

@@mefool8575 I'll only reply once and be done. The tornado band entrance, is a remake of SUs. The uniforms are patterned off of SU as well. The step 2, patterns in motion drilling was perfected at Southern. Talladega is not a word for word imitation, they are derived from the same blood. So to hate on any part of SU is blasphemy, as without Dr. Greggs, most bands would look nothing like they do today. Song selection, is a different animal and beating SU at song selection only FAMU, JSU, TnSu can do some of the time, and even they struggle, you can't walk into the arena thinking you're better then your father, especially if he's holding a belt and has beat you several times.. Talladega is the newest band on the block, with much to improve. Dr. Greggs, Carnell Knighten god rest their soul!! Must be given credit for the style. Bonds once again, did all his learning under Southern and in their territory. Dega is good, but only time will tell if they're great.

I am not very familiar with the college, nor am I interested in its heritage; so no I am not a fan! HOWEVER, I do recognize its poor attempts and similarities with The Southern University Human Jukebox as it pertains to style, drills, and seems like for Talladega "challenging musical arrangements". With a bit more practice and some work on arrangements to the level of the bands members, I am sure their tempo, and hopefully creativity in developing their own style will work to their advantage; but for this clip, those first two drills are poor copies of the "HUMAN JUKEBOX". #NoHATEjustFACTS

Serious question. They don't have a football team, so they just practice until botb and parades....but doesn't that get boring after some time. I mean like the waiting period between each performance got to be a good wait. I can't imagine waiting so long to perform what I practice for ten minutes just once every three or four weeks. Shoot might be longer. They need a football team or something.
Douglas Turner we literally have a performance every week it’s not a wait sometimes I feel like we don’t get a break. We have more performances than some schools with a football team

Agreed, but seems like they made some musical improvements, which is refreshing. Talladega, however, is lacking a field trademark, a tradition. I say bring back Family Guy Fanfare, and standardize a few aspects of the show for a few years.
