Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

When Allah creates His creations, He already swears to put His mercy above His anger but He is also just. When his creations sin, He waits for them to repend, the time frame is until His creation dies. He will forgive and have mercy to them if it is still in the time frame. When you died, there's no more repentance, only justice will take place as what He promised and He is the one that swears to keep His promise also.
