Great lesson, Jim. Your casual, friendly style, while teaching a really useful technique has made me a subscriber. Thanks!

really cool Jim. Made me set up the looper permanently in the practise space for working on ideas like this.

I remember finding you the best part of 14 or 15 years ago doing player tips for (I think) Guitar Player. Always admired your playing in the ‘Roy style’

Fantastic lesson, Jim! You’ve inspired me to dig deeper into this topic. I would love to see some tips on outside ways to play over the V chord. Thanks!

Just the most exquisite Telecaster tone I think I've ever heard Jim.

Jim, I hope you know how much your words, tone, inspiration, and playing mean to us! just wanted to say thanks, my friend.
also, I'm on the hunt for a faded/white/maple neck tele thanks to how amazing yours always looks :)

The 59 neck does have a nice look that's hard to replicate -but If you get a new neck with a nice glassy fingerboard with just two or three coats of lacquer, it wears fairly fast. Anyway, thanks for your gracious comments and have a great day - Jim

Hi Jim, just wanted to let you know I found this video very useful today and a perfect intro for getting some diminished sounds under my fingers. Love the diminished sound and my ears always perk up when I hear it. I really want to add this to my arsenal, at least the basics. More practice is obviously needed but this got me going. I need to get one of your lessons again, been eyeing Wishful Thinking or Table For One for a while now. All the best and stay safe!

Sounds great right out of the box. Can really hear the chord changes noodling from this ‘scale’ to the major 1 lines, as you say. Thanks

I'm not yet completely fluent with this, but my thinking (I understand what makes a dominant chord - root, 3rd, 5th, b7th) it's all the notes of the dominant except root is raised half step to be b9.

Thank you- Last time we played Chicago (October?) we played Brainwash ... it didn't have the amazing history of the Green Mill, but it was a very good music venue.

Jim, you're great, thanks for this. Something I needed today, a little kick in the pants about new finger shapes and movement (and you know I love the theory part of it, ways to name the relationships between notes!)

Does anyone know what the tags are that Jim has on all his gear? You can see them on the gig bag in this video and he has them on his amp handles as well! Never seen that sorta thing.
