- In this week’s vlog, we go up to a winding hole, turn the boat and come back to the same mooring so Martin can touch up the other side of the boat. It rained solid for a few days, but then the sun appeared and Julie put the drone up (DJI Mini 2) to get some beautiful views of the misty landscape! We then decided to make a break for it as the weather was dry (not for long 😜) Julie has a ‘mishap’ when trying to untie the ropes to cast off, Martin is filming …. it’s a CLOSE CALL! Oops! 🫣 But Martin does come to the rescue!
We cruise to Debdale for diesel and a quick pumpout, then on to Foxton for a quick stop overnight with an ‘early’ treat 😋 Then through the swing bridge and onto new waters onto the Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal, another beautiful mooring! ❤️

We hadn’t intended on vlogging, but recorded videos for ourselves and family and it has escalated into the weekly vlogs you see today, so lovely to have tou all onboard! ❤️

We weren’t laughing when Martin was filming you splitting your kipper, honest 😂. Looks like we will be hanging around the same area before Crick unless the landslide is cleared quickly which we very much doubt 😞

Hey guys another great vlog even the great British weather doesn't stop you. Julie you have to be careful when the water rises as it increases the freeboard of the boat. Anyway guys I am looking forward to the next one, oh Julie your soup recipe in the next description please stay safe you two 😊😊😊

Martin, you are such a naughty one….honestly, filming instead of helping Julie! It’s just as well she didn’t fall.
I don’t know how anyone could call you fair weather boaters - it seems to rain plenty of the time you’re filming. I do love that your umbrella matches the boat though! So classy 😁. You could see from the water that there had been a huge amount of run off from the fields and banks - it looked a lot like liquid mud! All those low hanging or lying trees are going to be a big issue come spring if they start growing further out into the canal - it’s going to be very narrow.

Thanks David, yes I am usually careful, bu5 as the water had risen, the boat was really high and I just couldn’t get off as usual, then when the boat started drifting out, I really thought I was going in! 🫣 Lol, Martin is a joker, but he did come to my rescue, he wouldn’t let anything happen to me bless him. The never ending rain. It seems like there have been constant storms all winter in the UK and between those there is the regular rain as well. It is bad for the animals that have to stand in the water and mud but what can anyone do? It's wet everywhere pretty much all the time so there's no dry place to take them. Signs of spring helps though! It will get better. Loved the early morning drone shots.
Hi Dorothy! Yes definitely, it’s still raining now on the 1st March! As you say, it’s really not good for the animals and wildlife in general, as Martin said, even the ducks are looking fed up with the weather lol 😂 it’ll soon be Spring eh! Lol, know what you mean, it’s been so wet lately, there’s flooding everywhere and trees are falling all the time. It’s such a shame to see trees that have been standing for many many years just not able to hold onto the bank 😥 It’s still raining now, with no sign of a let up, we get the odd sunny day, but then back to rain, roll on Spring, we’re nearly there! Hi guys beautiful scenery as always even in the rain. I'm a new b so I have a lot of your vids to catch up on YAY.😆 When I was a kid and after we had been in Aus for several years we realised it actually gets rather cold and rainy here in the winter. I remember my dad saying, Come to sunny Australia they said it's always sunny. It can get very cold here in winter and very hot in summer mid to high 40s even on Christmas day. That's another thing I have always wanted to do come to England and have a white Christmas. My wife and I are also big fans of Doc Martin and we would love to visit Cornwall Port Isaac such a beautiful place. Oh well one day you never know. Loved the episode catch you on the next one stay safe and Julie no more attempted bungie jumps off the boat .😂😂🤣🤣
Hi Geoff, we do get a fair bit of rainy cold weather, but get some lovely weather too. I don’t think we could live anywhere else! Cornwall is stunning, lots of really scenic places, coves, cliffs, beaches etc, you’d love it! Lol re bungee jumping 😝 I really couldn’t go one way or the other, thought I was going in haha 😂 Thank you Geoff! xx

Hi Mary, they are similar to crepes, we eat them with sugar and lemon juice and they are eaten on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Shrove Tuesday we traditionally eat pancakes to signify the last feast before Lent, Ash Wednesday. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment! xx

Hi Pam, aww you’re not being stupid, the answer is simply that we need time to edit the videos, ie take out all the jerky movements, take out scenes that would be boring, add music and talk-overs etc, this can take three-four days to complete. Then we have to upload the video to UA-cam which, depending on our internet signal at the time, can take hours, so we give ourselves a couple of weeks leeway, it also provides a little bit of security for us too, as we’re not in the same place as our last video. I noticed that you guys have a very different chimney for your stove, compared to other boaters. What type of stove do you have and where did you get the chimney from?
Just for giggles we are experiencing another cold spell of - 10s and 20s and more snow on the way.

Hi Mark, we have a Refleks Diesel stove, we replaced our original multi-fuel stove just over a year ago, you can see it on our Episode 17 ua-cam.com/video/hB8U_k_2sho/v-deo.htmlsi=geSpA5CHGAhkxkbR The chimney came with it. We bought the H chimney for when we get high winds.

How did you find getting into the service area at Debdale cause I made a complete horlicks.... and Martin what do you use as a rust inhibitor & primer? Excellent vlog again, hopefully I will 'bump' into you soon.
Hi Michael! Martin did ok getting into the service bay at Debdale, he lined up, then went straight in, mind you, can imagine on a windy day it must be tricky! 🫣 Martin uses Hammerite Kurust and then a zinc based primer before painting. Hope this helps! What’s your boat name Michael (apologies if I asked previously) and are you on the Leicester line atm? Thanks! xx
