Just a quick note to say thanks for taking the time to make and post this video. Lost drive on an Fs460c - found your video and was back in business in 2 mins. Thanks a lot - really appreciate it.
Just saved me a whole headache of trouble. 20 minutes into a full day I had set aside for clearing some land my blade stopped spinning. Fixed in 30 seconds with this video.
Thank you for the excellent video. Solved my Husqvarna problem. Could even tell it had slipped on the shaft like in the video, Must have been gradual but the brush blade finished it off.
How can i tell if it is the clutch drum or the clutch on a Shindaiwa? When i put the clutch drum on the shaft I can turn the drum & the trimmer head turns...but when i hook up the engine....the trimmer head does not turn...?
Thanks! Did this a few days ago and when the charge showed up it looked like an app charge for super thanks. I requested and received a refund. In the meantime, I realized it was my earlier support and thank you payment to you. Sorry!
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
@THEMOWERMEDIC1, I know this isn't a Stihl topic but just curious if you have seen the new 3020 from Echo, could a guy swap the flex cable for the steel driveshaft, if so what parts would a guy need? I'm getting it mainly to trim n cut weeds but some of the properties I'm on for my mom's boss have thick tree like weeds. Would like to bo both but thought I'd ask. Thanks JD
Ok but what if the drive cable is totally detached from the head. I can see my drive cable but it's resting on the wall of the shaft. I just don't know how to line it up to put it back in the head of the weed eater
I did it to mine. you have to take it out, grease it and when you put it back in, you have to wriggling it until it catches at the top. I didn't know this and cursed for hours until I found a video explaining what to do.
You know? Call me weird...but I lube every bolt/shaft/what have you while installing anything because I know that if it goes TOGETHER it is going to have to come APART again. And I never...have to use special tools to get something off like the head of a trimmer. Lube your stuff guys.
WRONG WRONG WRONG Lubing hardware changes the torque coefficient of said fastener. Always follow the mfg recommendations when applying oil or never seize. Some bolts require them to Be torqued dry
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 My dads two stroke I gave him 20 years ago that was probably 10 years old when I got it off the side of the road still runs great, and is easy for him to maintain in his late 60's for this reason. Never had a problem with any of our stuff. If you do? You're doing it wrong.
The problem I had was on the residential model Husqvarna the shaft had too much forward and backward play and would disconnect from the motor kind of like your Stihl, but it is not easily fixable. I think the cause of it was from the storage option to take it apart, the shaft is 2 pieces instead of 1. Never buy a weed eater that has the option to remove half of the shaft because that is a major weak point.
Can anyone shed light on something. I have seen all this topic and vids on Stihl. Have not crossed nothing yet on grease fitting and gearing. As in 1. Why do some have grease fitting and other newer etc may not? 2. Exactly how can one be greased with no fitting within gear box up by head? Example- I have a RC-56 and no grease fitting. Have a older 55 with fitting. Price for that box looks to be half of a new trimmer itself. Or is that exactly why they removed fitting. To make you by whole gearing box....
Wish you were my neighbor. You'd get rich off me.Women don't have the patience for these repairs. That's another reason we need men. unfortunately none in my area. they give me their stuff to fix even after hearing me curse for hours in the yard at my lawn mowers and weed whackers.

So glad I found this! I was upset my wackier wouldn’t turn, brand new! I could hear it working but not spinning… yahoo

You just saved me some $$. My Stihl FS-90 head stopped spinning. The head had slipped down about 3/4 “. Stumble on your sight……. All working…. Thanks
Thank you sooo much!! Saved my husband time and effort and probably a long wait to get it back from an authorized repair site.
You just saved me a trip to the repair shop. Got it fixed in minutes. Thanks!
Awesome! Hit that heart!

good video Jeremy, Thanks for tips!
you da man jeremy! thats the handiest dandy tool!
I changed the head on my fs80r today. Now I have a bad wobble when I initially throttle up. The wobble goes away at higher rpm’s, any ideas?
How can i tell if it is the clutch drum or the clutch on a Shindaiwa? When i put the clutch drum on the shaft I can turn the drum & the trimmer head turns...but when i hook up the engine....the trimmer head does not turn...?
Thanks again for the education.

Awesome as usual. Thx
Great idea with the oil wrench!
dat stuff detached from itself, can that alone make it not spin well.
Cool idea with the oil filter wrench...

I’m not real sure. You would have to contact echo
Not sure if this helped anyone but the wrench tip is good.
wow... thank you !
mine had a set screw under the shroud
THANK YOU.....
Themowermedic1 made my day! 👍
“needs head work” man don’t we all 🤣🤣
Would this fix appy to a Black and Decker electric weed eater?? Thanks!! Subscribed!
it should
Strap wrench works good in taking off the spool head too.
Takes too long
Good video. While you had it, I would have also hit that bevel gear head with some grease.
Thanks!
Thanks buddy
Question .
Why didn't you clean off the debr
What is a DEBR?

I don’t think a dab of lube will hurt, it’s not the space shuttle.

Remove plug , screw in stihl gearbox grease tube. Squeeze till full. Bam done!
You aren't kidding the clutch edge gets razor sharp when they wear down!
I hate that this owner didnt put original head
$75 dollars comeback and see us..
You remind me of my ex boyfriend, he would fix everything, 😢now I am married to a man who is lazy to repair a light
