You are so adorable! I'm in the USA, and I can't tell you how much I love your English accent along with your cute way of expressing yourself! I also appreciate yor knowledge of the Latin names of plants and flowers. It elevates them instead of sounding so common. Love your arrangements that feel like little gardens! None of them feel tight and constrained. What a relief from arrangements that think they all have to look alike in shops. I so appreciate the variety! I moved to an acre in Washington, and have started growing my own beautiful flowers. What a thrill to be able to arrange and share these beauties! Thank you for the enjoyment I get out of watching your videos!
I went to the plant nursery yesterday and saw this flowers for the first time in my life. I'm still thinking of them. found your video, reserching about them. they are lovely! Subscribing !
All 3 arrangements are gorgeous. I love hellebores and frequently treat myself to big plants every winter. They are expensive but they return reliably every year and bring much joy.
Several years ago, I had the delight of attending a demonstration by Sen'ai Ikenobo (the 45th Headmaster of Ikebana) during a rare appearance in NYC. I was only about one of six gringos in the audience and it was like attending church, watching this master create gorgeously artful floral works. I was so blessed to have witnessed the occasion! So glad to hear you speak of this style, Georgie!
Hello lovely Georgie. Just had an amazing rave up in my local garden centre in jersey and found loads of different hellebore plants for £3 each. Very happy. Also got some salvias and some geums. We'll split them over the weekend. About to watch this video for hellebore tips and tricks. Thank you xxx
Thanks so much for the in depth tutorial on hellebore preparation for arrangements. Visitors to my garden in the foothills of Northern California are amazed that hellebores thrive in shady woodland areas here despite our 100 degree summer temps and months of drought. They get regular supplemental water from drip irrigation and self sow prolifically. This is good because plants as large as the ones you couldn't resist are twice the price here. So glad to know I'm not the only one who acts impulsively when it comes to flower purchases. Ecstatic joy from your beautiful arrangements is understandingly contagious!
Happens to me all the time! It’s because we really love and appreciate beautiful flowers. I go to the garden center or nursery and spot something special or unique. Sometimes I just go ahead and grab it and bring it home. Other times I go home and mull over my landscape to figure out where to add the new addition and then go back and purchase. Sometimes you need “flower therapy”. It’s way better than meds or going to the Dr. I’m right now trying to justify buying the Gen. Sonewall Jackson deciduous Azalea from the confederate series. It’s at my local nursery and they only have 5. I believe when they bloom everyone will want one! Thanks for showing us how to display Hellebores in various ways. All beautiful
Hi, I just found your channel a couple of days ago. I've been watching some of your videos. You have a lovely channel, so much humor and down to earth, I love it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊🙏❤️. And the videos with your mom are awesome, I love your mom already 😂👌🌻. Love from the Netherlands 💐😘🇳🇱
I am so glad I found your channel. I have been enjoying your videos for the past few days and I feel so inspired by you. I am such a flower lover I have huge gardens and I am also someone that is an impulse buyer. When I see something that I have to have I just go and get it. It makes me happy. I have an area at my house that we call hella bore Hill. It started with five plants about 15 years ago and is now wall to wall plants because they are as you say very sexy and make tons of seedlings. I have been floating my blooms at Easter for many years and it always gets lots of attention. Our names are very similar and I get a kick out of that.
I work at a nursery. We find a lot of the newer varieties, especially doubles, tend to vary a lot when the flower. I only buy one when I have seen a flower on that particular plant. Added bonus...you don't have to wait, they bring you joy now! That can be worth a little more money.
It’s totally okay and even a good thing for you to support your local businesses!! And totally okay to spend on beautiful perennials!!!! Guilt-free!! Happy heart!!
Just bought 10 plugs love hellebores ❤ They survive such harsh conditions and bounce back , I’m about to divide my 2/3 yr old one . I have seeds but it seems years to get a flower from a seed . Yours look stunning and tall never knew they grew that tall mine is more foliage and short stems of flowers .
Thank you for all your tips for arranging hellebores . I live in South West France, and when I used to visit my Mum in Stamford UK, I always returned home with lots of hellebore seedlings from her garden (we were allowed to do that pre brexit), and I now have hellebores everywhere in my garden, some are in very sunny places and they still thrive. It's so exciting to look round my garden in early spring to see all the new colours that have mutated, they are indeed very promiscuous!
I have never tried growing hellebores', but plan to after this video. Just gorgeous, Georgie! When anticipating guests and in want of a bouquet or two, I head to my neighborhood small business nursery and find something lovely blooming in a pot. I cut off the flowering bits for my vases of garden greenery and then plant the rest in my back garden beds. I think of this solution as a win/win, and not at all a splurge. 🌷
Those are gorgeous!!! I have never grown hellebores but I always wanted to. Those are so pretty...I would not have control over buying them either. So don't feel bad. The heart knows what the heart wants. Floating those blossoms is a wonderful idea. God bless
The Hellebores are Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the old lead cut glass vases or the glass frogs are not quite as easy to find in charity shops these days. But when I do I feel as if I've won the lottery. Loads of valuable hints on how to preserve them as long as possible once cut. Fabulous. Jan uk
Great shopping! I am very jealous as they are definitely amongst my favourites. Thank you so much for all the info on how to pick and arrange them - I am going to gather some from the garden right now.
Last year I ve bought Hellebores after flower , planted tgem under trees, they survived the heath of last Summer also storms surprisingly well. They are all in flower now. Can t get enough from them. I don t clip them. They are too precious to me. But if sometimes a flower branch breaks off ...off course I put them in a little vase. But in the hall ...for a long lasting vase life.
I never knew I could have Hellebores in a cut arrangement and thank you for explaining the hot water treatment. I never understood the rationale for it! ❤️🌸🇨🇦
Oh I love Helebores. Here in South Africa, they are not very easy to grow. I have only one and in a big pot. Waiting to see if it will flower in Spring, September.
Great video Georgie. I wished I’d waited before I picked my hellebores on Saturday and put them in a vase as they all died on Sunday. I didn’t know that you had to sear them and scratch the sides etc. I’ll know in future. I love the floating idea too, I’ve seen a couple of Australian guys do something very similar and it looked amazing. Thanks
You deserve to treat yourself! I love all the color and beauty especially the crystal bowl with the blooms. I was excited that you mentioned 3 Porch Farm in Georgia. I ordered 12 robust Hellebore plugs from them last year and just ordered more to be delivered next week. However it is snowing here again in southern Wisconsin and they are saying 5 to 8 inches. So, I will pot them up until I can dig in the garden. Thanks for all the Hellebore tips and I look forward to my blooms!
Those small pin frogs seem to have very short pins especially compared to your large rusty one. I would buy one larger deeper pin frog instead of a bunch of small ones. You can also get clear plastic pin frogs (called kenzans in Ikebana) with 3 suction cups on the back.
I quite like these dinky ones - they sort of disappear in glass vessels and do enough of a job - I really need to indulge all my flower frog fancies - in the deep mid winter I might trawl eBay for a LOT. XXX
Thank you, I did a stem challenge last week but the hellebores were not playing. Also thank you for naming the style of floristry, not sure how to spell it. But I love the open structural design with negative spaces and gentle lines. You’re a gem!
Those are the largest hellebores I've ever seen! Love your demo's, but might I suggest that your "Ikebana" arrangement would look better in a shallower, unfooted vase?
true - it might - I wanted a mix of glass for the collection of arrangements and don't have a shallow saucer style glass dish - ikebana is not my natural floristry place I will admit x
I don't mind the cross pollination - I'm sure they'll do some odd things but I'll take what I get and they'll give me great pleasure under those trees x
You are so adorable!

I am a big fan of Hellebores as well. Your arrangements are beautiful, and I appreciate your humorous delivery. Thank you.
Thank you very much! x
I have a renewed appreciation for Hellebores. Such lovely plants.
Wonderful! x

mine may be less tall next year - this is how they came from the plant nursery where they were grown in optimum conditions x
I adore hellebores. These arrangements are inspired. ❤️❤️
thank you x
Love that jumper too!
thank you x
I didn’t know about the “one seed head” tip. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge sharing. Lovely video.❤

Love this! I have a very large area of naturalized hellebores under a huge hemlock tree. They are not tall like yours, but beautiful just the same.
I love a hellebore x
Great tips on handling hellebore. Thanks
you're welcome x
I know I'm a year late, but this is really pretty... I'm getting kind of obsessive currently about buying hellebores!
Love your channel :)
Thank you so much!! x
They are so lovely!
thankyou x
Now I want a trip to Plant World 😂
treat yourself x

these were a great treat x
Well of course I’m going to have to go and buy myself a Hellebore or two 😍 loved this & thank you for sharing.🙏
you're welcome x
I love the last arrangement. I am going to try some hellebores. Thank you,

glad you liked the crystal bowl - and I love what 3 Porch Farm have done - hopefully my hellebores will behave similarly x
Hellebores are my favourite, don't get me wrong I love all flowers but I have a soft spot for hellebores 😍x
me too x
But it the varieties. I love your rationalization. I do it all the time
very important to rationalise even the most impulsive buys x
Those small pin frogs seem to have very short pins especially compared to your large rusty one. I would buy one larger deeper pin frog instead of a bunch of small ones. You can also get clear plastic pin frogs (called kenzans in Ikebana) with 3 suction cups on the back.

I'm a new viewer from Canada. I LOVE hellebores. Have I ever owned one...no. Maybe this year!
they are gorgeous garden plants x
Gorgeous work.
thank you Anne x
Oooh they are beautiful. I have only 4 myself and would like more. Maybe next year.
they are lovely x
Gorgeous, I’d quite like some of the yellower ones. I’ve got a double green one which is gorgeous
yes the creamy yellower varieties are gorgeous aren't they x
Thank you, I did a stem challenge last week but the hellebores were not playing.
Also thank you for naming the style of floristry, not sure how to spell it. But I love the open structural design with negative spaces and gentle lines.
You’re a gem!
thank you x
I love helabores, but I can't grow them in Alaska, lovely arrangements
might be too chilly for them there x
I must try the searing treatment on Helleboris argutifolius, which is a lovely big green chunky hellebore
yes I think it'll work x
Just beautiful Georgie! I do love Hellebores but they are expensive around here (Texas). $45.00 US for one!!
these weren't cheap either - but not $45 each x
Thank you! What other flowers need this same protocol? I am going to try this tomorrow!
very few other flowers need so much processing x
What will happen to the hellebores if you don’t sir dip them or strip them ? Do they last longer or is it a must to sir dip and strip?
they last longer if they are seared but you don't have to - just lay flowers floating on water and they last nicely x
Gah! I love twiggery and pokery 💜
me too x
Those are the largest hellebores I've ever seen! Love your demo's, but might I suggest that your "Ikebana" arrangement would look better in a shallower, unfooted vase?
true - it might - I wanted a mix of glass for the collection of arrangements and don't have a shallow saucer style glass dish - ikebana is not my natural floristry place I will admit x
Please stop beating yourself up, We are all entitled to a flowery treat , Happy Hellebore Day !
thank you x
They will cross pollinate, self seed, and produce duller colors. I'm not sure how far away they need to be from each other to avoid this.
I don't mind the cross pollination - I'm sure they'll do some odd things but I'll take what I get and they'll give me great pleasure under those trees x
It’s ok we don’t condone the practice, you need to treat yourself once in a while. Enjoy!
thank you x
Was told HelIebores are really poisonous concerning as I have quite a few of these.
Just wash your hands after working with them if you’re worried and don’t eat! X
I can't bear to cut them, they are far too pretty as the whole plant.😊
I have what I call 'itchy scissor syndrome,' which means no plant in my garden is safe from my floristry snips. xxx
Black cloth !!!
laughing out loud - when I get one you'll be speechless x
