the thing leffen doesnt recognize, at least in his career, is he has too little gratitude for what he does. he has a ton of complaints but he needs to zoom out and look at the bigger picture, because it's a more positive look than the moment to moment problems that exist in communities or in the games he plays. smash ultimate has problems, but his outlook is so hyperfocused on smash ultimate and it's problems that he is totally tearing himself apart over it. and it's not like its a societal problem, he's not a minority or struggling against capitalism or something. its literally just videogames. he doesnt need to be such an activist over videogames, especially when they gave him the life he has and such positive experiences
If he complains that much he should find another career. That or deal with whatever the real issue is. 5:45 Shit jobs build character and make you appreciate good jobs so much more. Everyone should do at least one in their life.
I work a piece of shit stock job in the back of a retail store where everyone treats you like less than a person and more of a smiling automaton. I would love to play smash, SFV and dbzf for a living compared to this.
Tekken and Linux are very similar. The community documentation, development and meta has expanded so far past the original intentions of the designers that you just need to kind of sit your ass down and read for a day instead of complaining it's not all outlined for you.
Sorry for reviving this, but wanted to add a small, related point. Most early fighting games did not really teach players much of anything about their mechanics, and seemed to be in general simpler overall than most are now. I think in Tekken's case it never grew out of that, while other games started to expand on demonstrating game mechanics and whatnot, Tekken added/changed many features without much notice. Tekken 3 arcade cabs used to give you a short list of each character's moves that you could reference, and that was it. Everything else was up to the players to discover and share.
Perspective is good and all but depression is a stack of bricks that can pin you to the ground and leave you fucked. Living a super fortunate lifestyle doesn't always beat real mental health concerns and we've seen it countless times with various celebrities.
Cuz the influential smashers that talk on twitter are almost always complaining about something, thus the sheep inherit the negative vibes or strike back with their own negative opinions. It's unfortunate but it's been most of my experience playing Smash 4 and Ultimate
I respect Leffen but after watching him play Nier Automata for hours and complain like it's one of the most badly designed and thought out games, but still playing it anyway, that kinda gave me an impression. And I had to turn off his Tekken stream after he kept saying shit about the community, just cause of some trolls. The game is tricky but he's complaining like he needs to be the best player right away, and the game should explain absolutely everything. That's a rough attitude to have
Yes, Leffen needs a little help with his emotions, but I also completely agree with his points about Smash itself, like how camping’s optimality is hurting the game. But at the same time what do you expect when you try to make a competitor out of a party game at heart?
Honestly, you are going to find zoning and camping in any and all fighting games. It’s a part of the balance of offense and neutral that defines fighting games.
People can't quit the games they don't enjoy. It sounds irational but it's true. People just stick to their comfort zones even tho they're suffering and complaining all the time.
people saying dumb shit and acting like kids is something you should have grown out of caring about after high school, anyone whining about it just loves negativity.
I think a lot of Leff's attitude is kind of the entire melee community's attitude. They pioneered an entire FGC seperate from the normal FGC for one game, and Leffen was right at the forefront of that. I like that sasuke analogy, it really is like Leffen is sasuke and melee's evo history is the hidden leaf vilage.
I think the problem is that he is capable of not giving a shit, but the smash community forces him to be mellodramatic because they always have drama. If your community were a person they'd be a real bonifide frat boy, smash has moved on from that path. Twitlongers are part of their culture lol, smash and the fgc have become different beasts imo
I'm torn: On the one hand Leffen is an asshole who has dug his own misery grave. But on the other hand sometimes shit sucks and it is hard to let go that anger. Like there is understandable reasons to have angst not related to the game.
Leffen hates every part of ultimate. It's hilarious. I really don't understand him at all, what pleasure can be had being good at something u hate? It's like being straight and also being the best gay pornstar. Whyyyyy?
He was a melee player and all his credibility is from that game, not ultimate. Ultimate just gives him views because of the casuals coming into the fgc from smash
He said he makes money off of it but that excuse it bullshit. Summit made a lot of money playing Fortnite when he did but it was literally draining him of any fun he was having in games. Gotta learn to find what's right
honestly leffen the most interesting pro smash player just because of the shit he starts. Every other pro smash player lowkey boring outside of the game aside from mango and possibly nairo.
I think he most likely had a trauma growing up or at home that he never let go of/forgave, and that manifests in his every day behavior. BUT I love that dude and I always hope he gives up that bitterness lol! My favorite fighting game player for SURE
I remember when someone threw a crab at Hungrybox and he cried because "you dont understand how hard it is and how hard I train." And while its pretty rude and unnessecary to throw a crab at someone, funny as it is. the thing leffen doesnt recognize, at least in his career, is he has too little gratitude for what he does. he has a ton of complaints but he needs to zoom out and look at the bigger picture, because it's a more positive look than the moment to moment problems that exist in communities or in the games he plays. smash ultimate has problems, but his outlook is so hyperfocused on smash ultimate and it's problems that he is totally tearing himself apart over it. and it's not like its a societal problem, he's not a minority or struggling against capitalism or something. its literally just videogames. he doesnt need to be such an activist over videogames, especially when they gave him the life he has and such positive experiences
If he complains that much he should find another career. That or deal with whatever the real issue is.
5:45 Shit jobs build character and make you appreciate good jobs so much more. Everyone should do at least one in their life.
Facts. I delivered pizza, and worked at other fast food for years until I got money for school.
I work a piece of shit stock job in the back of a retail store where everyone treats you like less than a person and more of a smiling automaton. I would love to play smash, SFV and dbzf for a living compared to this.
I used to unload trucks at the grocery store, now I'm an IT guy and every day I thank the lord that I get to press buttons on a computer for a living.
@@bennymountain1 actually going to trade school for that currently. Thank you for reaffirming my aspirations lol
@@bennymountain1 I used to do security which caused me to have a mental breakdown. Now I write about video games and also thank the lord every day.
Everything else was up to the players to discover and share.
and well oh well, he did it again...
Sajam is in a one-way relationship with Leffen
I don't even know what the situation is and I'm so entertained by this bit.
He had the phrase "you should" banned from his chat. I like em, but at the end of the day the guy is a goon.
sajam's such a good role model
Great attitude to have in video games as in life. Cheers!
This man speaks the true true
Being hungry for a little bit, at some point, does wonders for your appreciation, outlook, and empathy too haha 😄
Leffen didnt have his years of research
Perspective is good and all but depression is a stack of bricks that can pin you to the ground and leave you fucked. Living a super fortunate lifestyle doesn't always beat real mental health concerns and we've seen it countless times with various celebrities.
Sajam is super wise for his age

what's up with Smash players lately and being hecking Miserable?
Cuz the influential smashers that talk on twitter are almost always complaining about something, thus the sheep inherit the negative vibes or strike back with their own negative opinions. It's unfortunate but it's been most of my experience playing Smash 4 and Ultimate
Aftertone That's what happens when you try to find Balance in a Party Game.
No one smokes weed or knows how to properly work thru emotions. Leffen is just the biggest bitch baby in Smash lol
Lately? Aren’t they always miserable?
Because Ult sucks. Melee Twitters been pleasant since Big House, even Mango and Hbox are getting along
That's a rough attitude to have
8:08 the best segue of all time
Word though I wish I could be a video game commentator, but I have no idea how to break into the industry
Every time leffen opens his mouth he reminds us he's a melee one trick and his pride can't take being anything else.
Bro, still waiting on the chat being in the videos. lol
Yes, Leffen needs a little help with his emotions, but I also completely agree with his points about Smash itself, like how camping’s optimality is hurting the game. But at the same time what do you expect when you try to make a competitor out of a party game at heart?
I was with you, until you said the stupid "party game" shit.
Honestly, you are going to find zoning and camping in any and all fighting games. It’s a part of the balance of offense and neutral that defines fighting games.
Sizeable Chillin... Username material right there boiiiiiii
He should just look into a different game. Nintendo doesnt give a fuck about the FGC anyway.
This is the first time I've heard sajam talk outside sfv commentating. Feels weird to hear him curse. Holy shit.
People can't quit the games they don't enjoy. It sounds irational but it's true. People just stick to their comfort zones even tho they're suffering and complaining all the time.
Honestly, he should just pick up Puff.
Problem with Leffen is that he loves to dish shit talk out but he absolutely CRUMBLES when it's sent back his way
Gotta do the aris
people saying dumb shit and acting like kids is something you should have grown out of caring about after high school, anyone whining about it just loves negativity.
But he doesn’t deserve any care
that guy hates everything and himself and anyone who is actually good, why feel bad when he does it to himself.
Dear Abigail...😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lef just likes to complain. There's typically some truth in it, but don't pay it much mind.
0:31 poped the biggest stiffie....
Read me Jane Austen and touch your hair, Jammy.
I'm torn:
On the one hand Leffen is an asshole who has dug his own misery grave.
But on the other hand sometimes shit sucks and it is hard to let go that anger. Like there is understandable reasons to have angst not related to the game.
Life is suffering so yeah, deal with it
hey alright
Leffen hates every part of ultimate. It's hilarious. I really don't understand him at all, what pleasure can be had being good at something u hate? It's like being straight and also being the best gay pornstar. Whyyyyy?
He was a melee player and all his credibility is from that game, not ultimate. Ultimate just gives him views because of the casuals coming into the fgc from smash
Jonathan Byrne I'm glad he is trying out other games.
Ultimate bores TF out of me.
He said he makes money off of it but that excuse it bullshit. Summit made a lot of money playing Fortnite when he did but it was literally draining him of any fun he was having in games. Gotta learn to find what's right
Violent Ult is great though
From Sajam calling me a bitch I have subbed.
I think big leff actually likes ultimate but its against his code to like the new smash game
honestly leffen the most interesting pro smash player just because of the shit he starts. Every other pro smash player lowkey boring outside of the game aside from mango and possibly nairo.
truth bombs
Leffen don’t know how to talk shit is the funniest shit, that the FGC at it’s finest.
He going to learn the hard way or get kick
And nigga you don't know how to speak english with these busted ass sentences.
Believe it or not, this comment is edited.
GANG
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
You can't deny that the Tekken community is toxic and expect to be taken seriously.
The guy's from the fucking Smash community. The one that's literally toxic in the armpit area.
Yeah I mean, the Tekken Twitch chat is one of the worst in all fighting games I think. I said it's in my top 2
Gumshon 😂 All you gamer/internet nerds smell like week old semen, stop projecting.
PhoenixXPhoenix Tekken community is already taken seriously and leagues more seriously than Smash could ever wish to be despite your claim.
i swear the tekken community has Stockholm syndrome for aris
Hey buy a shirt will ya?
lol not related , but whats up with people in comment sections and their infatuation with the word " bitch ".
Would he even be leffen if he was just chill?
No he'd be chillindude
And not even chillindude wants to be chillindude
@@madrocts LMAO
Oof the Smash community forced Leffen out of that tougher personality. I bet the old Leffen would have just bit back.
To literally cry over how hard your life is to play video games for a living while enjoying a level of fame just made me inherently dislike him to this day. It's just so out of touch, like celebrities were during the pandemic.
Leffen is so emo
That dude has always been whiny
leffen is sick
