Guys show a bit of empathy in the comments. Regardless of what type of phone he has, you have to remember he worked in Turkey so he did have some income. Also realize that Damascus is an extremely dangerous place, of course they want to leave regardless of their flat. If they stay in Syria they're going to be pent up in the flat, unable to provide an education to their kids due to the fact it's dangerous to even go out.

This is amazing. Great work. It's good to see Syrians shown as human beings and not the hyperbolic rhetoric that fearmongers say of them.

this video made me realize the situations always going on in different countries. it's terrifying to believe that people are going through this as an average day for them. the family shown in here is strong! i hope they make it!

Rutland VT is creating support for 100 Syrian Refugees who will arrive in September. This past weekend artists from Vermont and New England came together and gave a benefit concert in Burlington and Montpelier. Orchestral, vocal, poetry, art, theater, oud solos - a beautiful experience and a humbling experience embodying the lack of choice the plight of a refugee. The money raised went to support the www.KaramFoundation.org

I have a feeling some of the poster here would not be able to deal with missing a meal never mind having their entire life turned inside out.

You also have to understand that millions of Syrians ran to Europe and many of these same Syrians were not very thankful for all the help they received. I saw many of them throwing away food they were given because they didn't like it. Many poor citizens would have been glad to receive that food!!

The political situation of Syria it is very complex because if Assad will leave, extremists will take over , the same like in Irak a few years ago

Perhaps the worst kept secret about the Syrian migration crisis is that the people making it to Europe aren't *actually* Syrians fleeing war and hardship, but economic migrants from different parts of North Africa, who've capitalised on the opportunity to live subsidised by public tax money in the EU.

this family is not 100% refugees, they still have their homes in Damascus not affected by the bombing, not homeless in short. The guy is just worried for the down future of his family in Syria. The real Syrian refugees are the ones who live in refugee camps outside Syria, their homes destroyed by the bombing and no place to stay.

??? They have smart tablets and internet, and the guy has No Choice but to go to europe instead of staying in his country for his wife and kids. If things are fucked up there he should fight for his rights, not flee like a coward.

a refugee does not have to be poor to escape war and make sure his family is save. Even rich people don't wanna live in a warzone....

ProfessorBorax Even if they are economically well off, they aren't fleeing from poverty. Most refugees are fleeing danger. In this specific case they are fleeing war and political instability.
