- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) between Salzburg Hbf and Klagenfurt Hbf in 4K/60 frames per second.
This journey leads us along the Salzburg-Tyrol Railway from the city of Salzburg to Schwarzach St. Veit. From there the Tauernbahn begins and then we continue on the Tauern Railway, which is a part of one of the most important north-south trunk routes in Europe. The standard gauge railway line is 79 km long and climbs the High Tauern range of the Central Eastern Alps with a maximum incline of 3%, crossing the Alps through the 8,371 m long Tauern Tunnel. It is one of the highest standard gauge railways in Europe and the third highest in Austria. The last part of our journey leads us along the Drava Valley Railway, which is an east-west railway running along the Drava (Drau) River.

Interessant, wie wenig Verkehr auf dieser zweigleisigen Strecke über den Tauern ist. Und interessant war auch der Wechsel im Drautal auf die linke Seite, ohne erkennbare Baustellen oder ähnliches am rechten Gleis.
Wenn man bedenkt, dass die Pyhrnstrecke jetzt erst abschnittweise zweigleisig ausgebaut wird,

Passare attraverso i Tauri è sempre affascinante, Ci sono passato in vari anni 18 volte, alcune in locomotiva assieme al macchinista. Certo cinquanta anni fa a semplice binario escluso il tunnel era una impresa, oggi è diventata una autostrada scorrevole. Video bellissimo, veramente complimenti !

Die Fahrt dürfte an einem Sonntag stattgefunden haben (wie die meisten Reisen des Videoerstellers), da ist naturgemäß weniger Verkehr.
ich finds vor allem im Kontrast mit den meisten schweizer Bahnen spannend, dass man hier quasi den Hochgeschwindigkeitszug über den Berg schickt, und da meist mit 80-130 kmh auch deutlich schneller unterwegs ist, man zur gleichen Zeit jedoch die Passagiere an den Bahnhöfen mit der Lupe suchen kann
Vermutlich die best-ausgebauteste über-den-Berg-Bahn die ich bisher gesehen hab, aber der Grund dafür ist nicht erkennbar. Eigentlich irre
@@lordeisschrank Vor demBalkankrieg war die Erwartung, der Güterverkehr würde radikal wachsen. Das ist nie geschehen.Und die schnellen Züge: Die ÖBB fährt auch die Güterzüge mit Loks, dien230 tkm/h schaffen. Weil die ÖBB fast nur solche besitzt.
In Österreich wird (noch?) uneinheitlich mal im Links-, mal im Rechtsverkehr gefahren, das hat historische Gründe (ob britische Ingenieure die Strecke gebaut haben oder nicht)
beautiful views of the lake mountains. Interestingly, before the renovation of the Tauern tunnel this year, there are no plans to significantly increase the speed by building a new line on this section.

Was wondering the same thing, when I took the train there. Found out that they're constructing a hydropower plant with an extensive "fish ladder. Interesting project, it's called Kraftwerk Stegenwald.
