★ 4K 🇫🇷 Marseille St-Charles - Lyon Part-Dieu cab ride en BB 22200 [07.2022] Führerstandsmitfahrt

Who hasn't heard of the PLM line? This line, which is more than famous in France, put into service between 1847 and 1855, connects the three largest cities, namely Paris, Lyon and Marseille. It is still called the "Imperial Artery", it was the main line of the mythical Le Mistral train, and was used in 1954 to set the first rail speed record.
863 km long, it is electrified at 1500 volts DC, and is complimented by the high-speed line in its entirety. Today, there is no longer a train linking Paris to Marseille directly via this historic route.
It is between Marseille and Lyon along the Rhone Valley that we will cover the route in this new video. On this beautiful summer day, you can admire the beauty of this line bordering the left bank of the Rhône, after leaving the beautiful city of Marseille, and crossing the city of the popes.

in my youth I travelled with the TEE Mistral from/to Paris an Nice. As with TEE's from Amsterdam to/from Paris like the 'Etoile du Nord'. Nice dining.

Even if there is a passenger train between Lyon and Marseille on this "classic" line, I'm not sure anybody would really want to ride it given the OuiGo TGV service that links Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

The Main line! I hope u can make a cabride via Dijon from Lyon to Paris or the beautiful line Lyon-Geneva. i saw a lot of nuclear plants close to Rodano river. Line crosses all places full of history: Avignon, Orange, Valence and Vienne. There's also Grezan-Givors line on the right side of Rodano, a freight line only, now reopened to passenger trains on the other side of the river. Should be interesting seeing a cabride. Thank u

I'm astonished to learn that this route is still electrified at 1500v DC; I thought all major lines in France had been converted to 25kV AC many years ago. It seems odd that such an important (and long) route should still be working under such an old-fashioned electrical system as the DC.
