Proud owner of a Jeep Meridian for close to a year now. Approaching 20k kms on the odo and this one is a mile muncher on the highway. The ride quality is very good and the suv is stable at high speeds. We have done 800 km days with my 1 year old daughter in the Isofix car seats, the NVH and build quality is pretty admirable except for a few squeaks. It has an amazing sound system, 360 deg camera and plush seats with ventilation. Cons: loud AC, limited space in the 3rd row and this Suv definitely needs 30 bhp more.
I agree with you being an owner of Meridian myself with the points you’ve given here. I’d disagree with Kartikeya about the cabin noise. Meridian has more than enough noise dampening compared to other cars and cabin is pretty much silent. I’ve driven the Xuv 700, New Safari, Scorpio N and compared to those Meridian is pretty silent. I’ve driven my 25,000 kms and in 5 different states till now so I pretty much say you cannot go wrong with choosing Meridian. And it doesn’t feel laggy as such which he mentioned and I can say since I have driven it at a top speed of 190 kmph and it was very stable at that speed. But normal highway cruising it can easily do which it is made for and the engine is tuned nicely to not make it peppy and be in a relaxed manner which is more preferable for people like me who love to travel long distances.
Hello guys , glad to hear tmsuch onwership reviews as i myself have booked meridian 2 days ago . @@avl123 around 42L for FWD variant. Mileage figures already mentioned in the video by Karthik. 8-10 in free flowing city traffic and 15-18 on highways, depending on your right foot.
Jeep recently launched the updated Commander (The Meridian in India) in South American countries. It comes with a 2L turbo petrol engine producing 270 HP and 400 NM torque. Gets adjustable rear seats too , I think this engine would be the perfect equipment to make The Meridian completely desirable in Indian market.
The problem is that petrol becomes a fuel guzzling problem. Case in point being xuv700, kodiaq, Tiguan. It becomes even more expensive to run. I had to go for this diesel engine as it gives me 12kmpl in Gurgaon city traffic and 16kmpl on highway

It's been a year I am driving Meridian for more than 20K Kms. I felt more pros than cons about this car. It is my daily drive in Bangalore city, known for narrow roads and too many bottle necks. I felt this car moves like a butter. Great road presence, very good suspension and awesome noise cancellation in the cabin. I did 650 kms over night solo drive, I felt almost no tiredness. Its all bcoz of low noise, less body roll (way too lesser than competition). There are some cons like paint corrections, body panels alignment, rear seats cushioning, and AC flow in the rear seats.
As a young lad I was going through all the car options we have excluding luxury vehicle's to go for in India and NGL except Virtus and cars like compass etc, I don't find any car which gives that excitement of, 'now that's a car.' Every lineup of brand in India is so short and most fall just under 13-13 lakh with those pseudo suv's and cars ranging from 15-30 lakh bracket seem to be just the top end variants of these cars. The jump is drastic after that either go for a 50 lakh entry level luxury car or what else? We definitely need more cars like Meridian (maybe better than that) Cars like civic, accord, Elantra etc. I literally fell in love with Meridian when I saw it going through a valley near Himalayas as I live near those ranges. The car going through in contrast with the ice capped mountains was such a looker.

Jeep’s biggest and only negative is their pricing. Dropping the pricing by 3-5 lakhs will drop it straight into the safari and xuv700 band and translate to exponentially higher sales.
I bought my Meridian last year for 35 lakh after negotiating with the dealer and I can say I’m pretty much happy with it since day one. It costed me almost at the price of Jeep Compass model S.
@@DisheetKhambhayata Can you really negotiate it to such an extent !! How much lakh discount was it actually and which model ? Hope ur point of 35L is onroad one !

I've following Karthikeya from the Zigwheels days but since he's come over to MotorInc, I can him moving up a notch quite clearly. He looks into our eyes with confidence & passion in his eyes, the way he speaks, the way he presents makes me to come back again & again to listen to him. He's a perfect blend of experience & passion put into one complete package. More than the video, I'm here just to listen him talk. Love you Karthikeya sir!😚❤
your mic quality on the view episodes has been very tinny. please look into this. compare your mic quality to other videos on youtube for reference. what mics are you guys using?
Watching this video in the morning and is so soothing as well as informative. Naysayers and haters will always be there. You continue the amazing work and keep rocking Kartikeya! ❤
Meridian makes crazy sense when you consider the discount it usually gets. 5 to 8 lacs. Makes more sense than Compass with the new unreasonable pricing. Just like Alturas G4 with the discounts makes more sense than XUV 700 but guess what? People wont buy it!
I have owned the Initial Jeep compass manual, i loved the vehicle except for the stalling issue in 2nd gear. I took a test drive of the latest compass it didn't feel as well put together with lots of squeaks and rattles. Does the meridian have the same issues, this is one which is keeping me away from it
I for one like the staccato delivery that Karthikeya brings in to View, it is a sort of identity for View- it mimics how thoughts come in fits and bursts when you see a vehicle and try to articulate your thoughts about it. Impact of the slow pace is something I love from the longer form videos, for more flowing fast paced content I refer to Motorinc reels. (And yes I know opinions are like a certain body part - everyone has one; this was mine 😅)
Yes looking at the automatic. Main attraction was its small size and suspension for narrow bad roads chock-a-block with traffic but the large turning radius seems to nullify the advantage of its compact size. Don’t think will be doing the off-roading
The toss up between the Kodiaq and Meridian isn’t on the ride and handling. The Kodiaq will be more plush and car like while the Meridian will be more SUV like. The difference is the engine and general sense of refinement and luxury. Hope that helps Sandy!
This is so well put together. What are some options you would consider as a non-compromise 7-seater for family trips with good luggage space and kids in the 3rd row? A hybrid would be great. But my observation has been, with any 7-seater, you will compromise on something unless you a paying 8 figures.
What are the other options in this category ? Its for my father who wants a chauffeur driven comfortable preferably 7 seater SUV , preowned vehicle will do too in a budget of 30-35 lakhs
Other is a truck called fortuner, very uncomfortable, raw, expensive only good for reliability. Kodiaq is also there but in petrol but try out Jeep their new variant x under 30 lakhs. Only downside with jeep is expensive maintenance but so is the case with Germans. Jeep is a luxury brand can't be compared with trucks like hilux and fortuner.
Love Jeep Compass, yet to try Meridian. Coming from same family of FIAT LINEA, this is a familiar territory just like Citroën. I’d pick Meridian over TFort since the latter has too much movement inside and feels claustrophobic. Compass is the pinnacle of tight SUV, Meridian is pinnacle of class and feel in its range.
@@motorinc I'm Akash 🥲 I have THE Linea 125S TJET 😁 But it is imperative that I would be going for Compass or Meridian(home ministry approval Pending). Everything else seems like a compromise or downgrade.
We actually didn’t go off-road with it. We don’t see anyone using it for that explicitly. For casual users it will be plenty! Like we said farmhouse trips sorted.
Morning commute in heavy traffic and hearing Kartikeya... Feels tranquility in the center of chaotic world 😂 Felt like A shot of cold lemonade in this heat. Had an opportunity to ride the meridian and i completely agree this ain't a COMPASS XL. It feels like home on wheels. I won't compare this to Fortuner.. For me it's Innova Hycross class. Wish Jeep could have kept the prices on lower side to atleast get more attention. Have 3 meredian in known families and they all love it for travelling with families.. But everyone suffer from some form of QC issues especially rattling noise or trim issues. Service in Tier 2 cities like mine aren't that good (Okaish). And parts availability takes time!! The compass video thumbnail said to GET OUT to enjoy... Meridian is like Alfred from Batman... At your travel service sir with complete relaxation
Waiting for your reply, confused about what to take ns 400 or Duke 200 , or suggest me any good motorcycle, I am a beginner to coming from 125cc scooty ❤❤❤
Good video.. I feel, since the engine is the same as Compass; it's a Alcazar version of Creta or a Karens version of Seltos.... but for Jeep, since Compass comes with 2.0 L, this upgrade makes sense more than the other 2... any 1.5 L with 7 seats can be good a people carrier, however not for enthusiasts 🙂
Hi @Karthik, Good review as always. I am looking for vehicles in this category for more than a year and my Meridian experience was kind of average. I had a TD more than 50 kms in Bangalore city and Hosur highway. I feel its so under tuned to extract more mileage and relaxed driving experience on highways. I gave the car back to the sales person on the return when reached bglr city as this car couldn't impress me on the driving. There are many aspects which I liked in this car. I wanted to mentioned why I excluded this from my shortlist. Brazil model TD380 has 30 Nm more power compared to this one atelast. It really needs a bump up in power. But I will give it another try if there is something exciting on the upcoming Meridian 2.0
Hey Binoy! Love reading about your experience. And, we feel you - choices are slim. The laid back nature of the Meridian is a bit of a buzz kill. Let’s see what they do. Clearly there is more to come. But, when?
Dear Motorinc, I can’t see Mavrick & Speed 400 videos as I want to see the reviews before taking a test drive. A suggestion please open up the older videos to all audiences because most of the premium videos are of high demand cars & bikes and most of the people see the videos of these vehicles because they want a clear idea about the vehicle to refine their purchasing decision. If Motorinc is unable to help such viewers then what is the use of this movement and such high quality videos because normal viewer will watch other creators videos to know about the vehicle hence acquiring new subscribers will reduce to a greater extent hence channel growth will stunt. Do give it a thought as I want this channel to grow at the likes of top automotive channels of the world.
I'd anyday choose a XUV700 over jeep meridian, even if xuv700 is similarly priced as the meridian. :- Xuv700 has better enigne and better performance :-Has more space :-More features ( especially ADAS ) :-Its 9 speed does just under 2k RPM at 120, While XUV's TC does 120 at 2k RPM ( just a marginal difference for 6 speed and a 9 speed!! )
I wouldn't mind hinting to Toyota on how to do the interiors more than KIA, considering the price range...and therefore also Suzuki(Invicto, anyone interested?😅)
Agree with you there @PrajishAP. Interiors on the HyCross/Invicto could be better but Kartik mentioned Kia as they try to offer cutting edge interiors on their vehicles. Especially on the new Seltos.
I'm a fan of Karthikeya for a long time, but the recent narrations in these episodes are too slow.. I'm finding myself constantly switching the speed to 1.25-1.5
People who complain about the video being too slow have their brains rotten by Reels and Shorts and have the attention span of a goldfish If you wanna watch a car review, there are plenty others, If you want to witness artistic journalism, then this channel is for you
When I first heard about Meridian I was so excited but now I dont see it that way. Particularly the rear wiper reminds me of hippos tail, just waiting to spin round n round with fart. 😅 The only car worthy to challenge Fortuner is gone. Few days back I was watching an Aussie channel comparing all the 4wd real SUVs, and they said fortuner was the last in terms of sales among the contenders. 1st place was Prado followed by Isuzu MUX (which wasn't launched in India). Do you see Isuzu launching the new gen MUX or it's facelift this year? I've heard rumors upcoming Fortuner will be more or less the same but come with a diesel hybrid engine. Does Isuzu also have any hybrids planned? Even the current gen MU-X's ride quality is better than the Fortuner and the new gen MU-X is better in every regard - dimensions, interior, third row, comfort, more GC, fuel efficiency, service interval, ADAS, cheaper, and so much more. The only place where fortuner is ahead in terms of fuel tank capacity. I know Gloster is there but it can't compete in offroad as these 2, and I find under thigh support lacking in all 3 rows.
Hey Aditya, They don’t have the same engine. Those are each engineered differently. Their size and number of cylinders maybe same. But how they work, is not. Hope that helps!
Don't you think it's bad that we get less safe cars Creta/Seltos in India just scored 3* actually that's 2.99* and international variants 5* Why double standards? I know that we need to grow up and drive responsibily, follow rules, keep surroundings in check but we're also consumers we also need safe cars.
@@motorinc Well you know right they are technically 2.99* but my main concern in why double standards. We are also paying around 24 lacks for top variants we also deserve safety like they provide in international markets.
The incompetency in understanding our market and its aspirationsl buyers has made life difficult for Jeep. Nevermind the Chrysler engines which are not known for their reliability.
Hey SS! How’s it going? The lack of options for the premium buyers still brings the Meridian into their consideration set. This is what we saw after speaking with owners. But, it isn’t convincing enough to pull of the luxury game or the tough game.
@@motorinc going good team! We were considering it for our family infect back in 2022 but ended up going with the forturner after having a look at the second row seating. To be frank it was a purely emotional decision because of the size and heft of the car. We got a 4x4. But it’s a fun thing to have and enjoy for sure. Hope we get more options soon. Although I feel the main market is the creta-elevate size category.

Hey Arun, thanks as always. And glad to hear KartikeyaxMotorInc is clicking with you.
@@motorinc it should be me that should be glad to have come across this channel!🙂
your mic quality on the view episodes has been very tinny. please look into this. compare your mic quality to other videos on youtube for reference.
what mics are you guys using?
im watching a carwow video with this going back and forth and its drastic to my ears.
Hi Tanish, appreciate the feedback. We’ll check it out.
We wil wait for an video on fortuner.
I am eager to know the thoughts of kartikeya about fortuner.
We would love to. The test car was just a bit roughed up.
Watching this video in the morning and is so soothing as well as informative. Naysayers and haters will always be there. You continue the amazing work and keep rocking Kartikeya! ❤
Heya SS! Appreciate it!
i have a stage one tuned meridian. Absolutely love the car. i am getting 190 bhp at the wheels.
Tuning affects the reliability?
Meridian makes crazy sense when you consider the discount it usually gets. 5 to 8 lacs. Makes more sense than Compass with the new unreasonable pricing. Just like Alturas G4 with the discounts makes more sense than XUV 700 but guess what? People wont buy it!
Hello MR, at the price you are indicating it’s excellent. Do you have one? If yes, how’s your service experience?
Soothing on the ears. Measured and carefully crafted content, delivered with a quiet but nonetheless reassuring confidence. Way to go Karthikeya
Thanks for the kind words Abhijith!
The audio is very very off in this video guys.
Thanks for the feedback Abi!
I have owned the Initial Jeep compass manual, i loved the vehicle except for the stalling issue in 2nd gear. I took a test drive of the latest compass it didn't feel as well put together with lots of squeaks and rattles. Does the meridian have the same issues, this is one which is keeping me away from it
With the depleting sales MoM, and ? on post sales service, it is difficult to convince one to buy a Jeep...
Hey PT, convincing someone will be tough. Which is why K said - if it’s Jeep you want…
Hey Subhro! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. And glad to know it works for you. 😀
Hi MotorInc, can you please do a review of the Jimny on View?
Hey Arjun! We have it on our to do list for sure! Are you interested in the auto? And what do you plan to use it for?
Yes looking at the automatic. Main attraction was its small size and suspension for narrow bad roads chock-a-block with traffic but the large turning radius seems to nullify the advantage of its compact size. Don’t think will be doing the off-roading
If ride and handling balance is taken into account, which one should be the pick between meridian and kodiaq?
The toss up between the Kodiaq and Meridian isn’t on the ride and handling. The Kodiaq will be more plush and car like while the Meridian will be more SUV like. The difference is the engine and general sense of refinement and luxury. Hope that helps Sandy!
The analysis is Spot on
Thank you @maneetsinghbagga2898!
The chrome accent line above the rear door doesn't align properly with the C pillar and it bothers me more than it should 😅
😀 OCD?
1.25X is the sweet spot to give the bg music a zing too
And, thanks!
This is so well put together. What are some options you would consider as a non-compromise 7-seater for family trips with good luggage space and kids in the 3rd row? A hybrid would be great. But my observation has been, with any 7-seater, you will compromise on something unless you a paying 8 figures.
Hi Suraj, have you tried out the Hycross/Invicto? We have our View videos on both. Do check them out.
Will you ever review an MG car on the channel, more specifically the Astor ?
Hey JJ! We are awaiting test cars. 🤷♂️
Petrol meridian 4*2 would make a good case for itself I think. Would make it more price attractive
That would make it interesting for sure.
Low and slow baby !!! Karthi is a like a low rider. Ambling along letting you hear and absorb all. Suno magar pyaar se .
Mr Meister! 😁 Happy to hear that! Thank you.
Don't u complain about his speed @shivasoumiya we love karthyeka for his calmn pleasing presentation ❤
That’s really kind of you Ros!
Hey Akash, do you have a Compass? Let us know here you drive the Meridian. 😁
@@motorinc I'm Akash 🥲
I have THE Linea 125S TJET 😁
But it is imperative that I would be going for Compass or Meridian(home ministry approval Pending). Everything else seems like a compromise or downgrade.
Hello Akash! Who called you Akshay? 😀
Sorry about that. And thanks for letting us know about your car and aspirations. We’re with you!
Saw in multiple off road videos that it fared poorly compared to other 4X4 in same segment or near to its segment. What is your opinion?
We actually didn’t go off-road with it. We don’t see anyone using it for that explicitly. For casual users it will be plenty! Like we said farmhouse trips sorted.
When will be there a dedicated video about bajaj NS400Z ?
Appreciate your patience. Please stay tuned.
I felt like pressing the bell icon today, and I did it.
Heya HD! That’s beautifully said! Alfred! Haha
Waiting for your reply, confused about what to take ns 400 or Duke 200 , or suggest me any good motorcycle, I am a beginner to coming from 125cc scooty ❤❤❤
Hello SS! Just hold on for a bit? We may have an answer soon. 😁
Eagerly waiting 😁😁
This would better than fortuner in every prospect except reliability. What a car it is.
Hey Ankit, glad to hear your take. Do you use one?
@@motorinc yep, I own a compass and my uncle owns a meridian
Brilliant review. Now one on the landrover defender?😝😭
Heya Akshay! Thanks! Do you have one?
@@motorinc Dad has it booked yess
Please make a video on XUV 3XO soon.
Stay tuned @vatsalkatiyar3127!
Thanks for sharing your take Amitav! It’s definitely not for spirited drivers.
Meridian remains the best driving and smashing riding crossover or utility vehicle I have driven upto 50 lakhs, better than X1, GLA or Q3
Woah that is high praise @pranjal70! How long have you owned one?
I feel like it's only right for you guys to coin the term "Motorinc mornings"
😄
Looks like they have improved the rear seat comfort in this. It is really bad in the compass
Yes. The seat position is higher. And the added sense of space really helps.
Forget 1.5x, Kartikeya's videos are best viewed at 1.75x.
That's a first!
I am a huge fan of motor inc. But today i slept at 8.15 too slow. Listen at 1.5x should do the trick😂
👍 Thanks for the feedback.
I see you shot the driving clip montage on Panvel roads 🫡
But, when?
Guys when you will make video on pulser NS400Z
Stay tuned @uder-lu3uo6dd5k!
Thanks for the feedback @stevencharles8421.
Hey Karthikeya, shall we call it a Cherokee LX then?
Hahahaha!
Im so mad that you guys made the scrambler review exclusive for first.
Thanks for your feedback!
These guys forgot they run a car channel and not ASMR channel.
Thanks for the feedback Gandhar. Appreciate it.
I'd anyday choose a XUV700 over jeep meridian, even if xuv700 is similarly priced as the meridian.
:- Xuv700 has better enigne and better performance
:-Has more space
:-More features ( especially ADAS )
:-Its 9 speed does just under 2k RPM at 120, While XUV's TC does 120 at 2k RPM ( just a marginal difference for 6 speed and a 9 speed!! )
Thanks for letting us know @aneesh3462.
What about grand Cherokee? Is it a better car than Meridian other than financial pov?
Grand Cherokee costs more than 1 crore on road.
That’s a big step up!
Even the background music is American 🦅
Gotta keep up the overall theme AS!
3:01 Thank God Jeep didn't slap on those 2D looking ✌🏻Diamond-cut✌🏻 alloys
The American theme going in the background..!!!✌️
😁
Jeep as a brand seems to under prepared for the Indian Market with its limited offerings.
Hey TB! Or overestimated themselves. They are doing premium things. But not by enough to let the Jeep badge pull off that price tag.
@@motorinc agree, KIA has always been that flashy cousin
I'm a fan of Karthikeya for a long time, but the recent narrations in these episodes are too slow.. I'm finding myself constantly switching the speed to 1.25-1.5
Thanks for the feedback Mukesh. Hope that helped you.
People who complain about the video being too slow have their brains rotten by Reels and Shorts and have the attention span of a goldfish
If you wanna watch a car review, there are plenty others,
If you want to witness artistic journalism, then this channel is for you
Thank you for the kind words @AbhisarRawat!
there are only 2 jeeps that excite me - wrangler and grand wagoneer(1970s)
Heya HV! You mean woody? 😁
@@motorinc yes it had wooden exteriors saw in one good movie and was a luxury back then
It’s been nicknamed Woody!
I really admire this channel and its views..
...but
..I had to switch gears to 1.5x viewing speed
No worries @shiroleshashank! Watch at a pace you are comfortable with. 😊
enjoying therapy or rather ASMR compass meridian vibes.......▶
I get the whole calm vibe and aesthetics thing but please try to talk a bit faster.
Thanks for the feedback Hritik.
When I first heard about Meridian I was so excited but now I dont see it that way. Particularly the rear wiper reminds me of hippos tail, just waiting to spin round n round with fart. 😅
The only car worthy to challenge Fortuner is gone.
I forgot to add more refined engine than fortuner 😛
This vehicle caters to people experiencing mid life automobile crisis...!
Well, that must be one good crisis then @absash7838...
@@motorinc definitely, any kind of mid life crisis is a luxury.
I've heard a few buy the Ignis and say "Compass jaisi dikhti hai"🤣 . Not kidding
No way!
Coming up next - Jeep Grand Cherokee; or probably the Wrangler? Drop a hint
You tell us!
I'm surprised to know it's engine is lazy😅 hycross, crysta, xuv700, safari(with same diesel engine mind you) seems better options
Hey Aditya, They don’t have the same engine. Those are each engineered differently. Their size and number of cylinders maybe same. But how they work, is not. Hope that helps!
So basically look for other family car. Thanks Karthikeya 🙏
Hi Abhinav! For a seven seater - absolutely.
watch the video in 1.25x speed. and thank me later
Hehe Thanks for helping out.
Kia seltos jab launch hui thi starting mai tab se mai inka fan hu.
Namaste Sir, hamaare saath samay bitaane ke liye shukriya.
Don't you think it's bad that we get less safe cars
Creta/Seltos in India just scored 3* actually that's 2.99* and international variants 5*
Why double standards?
I know that we need to grow up and drive responsibily, follow rules, keep surroundings in check but we're also consumers we also need safe cars.
Hey Akshat, agreed they could be better and safer. But, 3 stars isn’t a failing grade either.
@@motorinc Well you know right they are technically 2.99* but my main concern in why double standards. We are also paying around 24 lacks for top variants we also deserve safety like they provide in international markets.
So it's basically better than compass, but worse than it's rivals, due to its drivetrain and the third row.
Super summary!
I should be working right now
Morning!
As a hexa xta owner I've taken test drive of meridian and it felt very slow and lazy interior is also not that fascinating..
Hexa owners can definitely gloat about the space! 😆 Good to hear from you. Do you have an auto?
@@motorinc yup it's an automatic 😁
Got it! How’s the service and maintenance aspect of it?
@@motorinc I have never faced any service issues in 7 years of ownership maintance is around 8-9k average yearly which seems pretty decent to me.
We get it. The Fortuner’s presence is its biggest draw. Thanks for sharing that with us!
Do they sell 😮. ??
Too little!
Why should one buy diesel now?
There are people who prefer it for the torque and the cost savings, for now @Humani11. Makes sense if one drives around a lot.
Where is the z ns400
Stay tuned X^10.336!
@@motorinc … need to decode this one…still trying to
Well you have 10x's in your username and we didn't want to get it wrong, so... 😅
Should have better engine option
Unlikely to buy this over Fortuner for three reasons - cost of maintenance, resale value and reliability/question on existence of Jeep Brand in India
Gotcha!
Okay. I had to google to get "Gotcha"
Service Network is poor. Jeep Dealership’s are not hungry interms of sales. Even the customer Sales Executive are not much interested in selling.
Thanks for the on-ground report. Which city are you from?
Surat, Gujarat.
Kartikeya trying to cross the homework word count.
😄
Totally forgot that this car exist!🙃
