    Paul is a genius when it come to health but he says the dumbest stuff sometimes. WE DONT NEED THE GOVERNMENT INVOLVED IN OUR FOOD SYSTEM. When will he realized that the government is the problem. When you hear someone like him recommending more government programs to "help" people I realize this is why our country is so screwed up and its not going to change anytime soon. The solution to every problem for the past 100 years has been more regulations, more government control and spending resulting in WORSE health results. WAKE UP PAUL. Get the government out of our lives not more involved.

      I strongly disagree, you Americans don't have enough brains to understand that any company strives to increase profits and will inevitably do so at the cost of our health -- life in the modern world is impossible without regulation

    • @Anna-rb6rg
      @Anna-rb6rg 11 днів тому +12

      and your American problems are not because of regulation, but because of "regulation" literally bought by business
      you don't even have experience of what the normal regulation is - when companies don't foist their crap on you, including through politicians
      the laws of normal societies are at least partially based on the interests of society,
      we strive for this to be about 100% of the interests of people and not business,
      like in the US, which has become a laughing stock all over the world with its 300 kg obesity and "regulation"

    FWIW, here is how Dr Mercola makes his chicken feed:
    "... the recipe is fairly simple as there are only three ingredients. The first is white rice. This is not a mistake; brown rice is vastly inferior, as the hulls will tend to catalyze endotoxin production in the chicken's gut.
    Then I use split peas and soak them for 12 days and rinse every 12 hours until I cook them in a pressure cooker after two days. So, essentially, they are sprouted and pressure-cooked split peas. Ashley Armstrong, a regenerative farmer, doesn't cook her split peas because that is tough to do in a large commercial operation. Finally, I add barley to their feed. I also sprinkle in some calcium powder, minerals and my desiccated liver powder."

      I just asked Chat GPT why PUFAS are bad and it gave me a long answer and then I asked it why they are promoted over saturated fats and it gave me another long answer including the fact that they have been demonized because of Angel Keys and “the lipid hypothesis” and because there is a large agricultural interest since they are easier and cheaper to produce over animal fats then I said given all of this information which fats are better? And it said Saturated fats

      There are WAY TOO MANY THINGS TO SAY hahaha. I hope that i hit enough topics for you.
      Costa Rica is a great place. It is beautiful. It has tropical jungles to tropical beaches to chilly mountains and volcanoes. It has simple Latin food, but delicious. Fresh fruits and vegetables from Farmer’s Markets. Amazing looking beautiful women 😂. I love getting coconuts on the side of the road and drinking them. I miss it…😓. There are many places to explore and things to do.
      You meet so many different people, from interesting Ticos, to foreigners that are just like you and me and want something different from the US experience, to tourists that you build friendships with and then they leave or they end up staying, etc.
      I love the mainly chill vibe. The people are nice and chill most of the time. They live by a saying “Pura Vida” which means Pure Life. And it means like “all good” “chilling”, kind of haha.
      Sometimes it is too chill when you want some service done fast or something etc. and it’s okay. It is what it is. Acceptance. There is positive and negatives everywhere you go.
      To me, I just like it better there. It is 3rd world though, but there is something about that, that makes me love it more. And it is a pretty safe 3rd world country too, which is nice.
      I learned Spanish fluently from living there (i lived in the suburbs of the city in a nice area and also had friends that didn’t speak English). I also lived in not such a nice area too lol.
      I have lives similar to a humilde Costa Rican at times. Taking buses, not having money for Ubers, etc. but not the same. North Americans just have everything way better, with help from the government etc.
      But if you live outside the city in or near beach towns, then there is a lot of English. Even in the city there is.
      So go enjoy! Live your life. Do something exciting. I am not into college and working 9-5 and all that stuff if I don’t have to.
      Now my goal is to do some Air BnB’s and Apartments in Costa Rica.
      Then buy a nice piece of land and live there, grow some food and enjoy life, maybe have kids.
      There is something about the kids in Costa Rica that is different than the states… they do not have this thing about them like many North American kids do lol. Hard to explain.
      You will notice most of the kids are just more mature, more quiet when they need to be, more street smart than many kids in the states, majority don’t have things handed to them, many of them have to work and pay for University, they don’t cause unnecessary problems like in the states, they just have more of a survival mode, but at the same time very humble and chill and friendly and funny lol. I just love Ticos hahaha. There’s no way I would date an American girl if i ever split from my wife haha. Maybe one that is very different.
      I suggest, just go do it. You are just graduating… go live life!
      If you can.
      Screw the norm in the States and all the positions and jobs and clothes and tons of money and social status and material 🤢🤮…
      Get away from it all and actually LIVE
      so many people are miserable here in the states lol, well in New York City hahaha.
      I’m projecting a little hehe…
      But thank God for the states at the same time, i am so so grateful for USA.
      There are so many amazing things.
      My job is working from home.
      I do okay financially.
      I can live in Costa Rica. (Not rich, not poor)
      But i don’t want to be a big part of the US that much.
      Wish you the best of best in your journey.
      And in worst case scenario if you don’t like where you live, you can move somewhere else.
      Peace and Love fellow soul seeker🙏😇

    It’d be great if you can address caloric intake in parallel to current caloric/BMR/I models. Assuming those models are based off of the traditional American diet? I would think the animal based diet would not require as many calories because you’re absorbing the majority of the food.

    I started on carnivore 2 years ago and have been eating animal based 100% for well over a year. I weigh more on this diet (likely due to being nutritionally dense foods) and have struggled to lose weight. It is also a common theme on Dr. S's blog site. It is not as simple for some people, and I believe Dr. S has said he is surfing 2-3 hours a day.

      Carbs are an energy source plain and simple. How much movement do you get a day? I eat daily 300-350 grams of carbs per day but I’m active. I get minimum of 15,000 steps a day and that’s when the phones in my pocket to track so I’m getting easily 20,000. That’s not to brag it’s to show you to base your carbs on your activity.

      I'm with you 💯. For the last 12 months I just ate grass-fed meat and all I got was acid reflux, itching (private parts) and water retention in mythighs. I walked for 40 min. every day and drink lots of water. Carnivore is not easy on everyone, I believe or I guess. I just gave up and finally added green salad to my meat, eggs and bacon on a rye cracker in the morning. I add apple cider before eating the meat. I think it's helping but carnivores are not as easy as people make it sound like. I'm 72 so it's not like I'm going to climb Mount Everest but I do go walking. So, I hear you. I don't know what the solution is. Everyone has their own story and too many make it sound like you can lose 60 lbs overnight when it's probably more within 5 years. Though, I love to lose 40 lbs overnight. 🙂

    This is a great podcast. One thing I do wonder is what Paul thinks about folate, magnesium, molybdenum, all difficult to get on these animal based/carnivore diets, unless you eat often excessive amounts of liver. I used to be on this type of animal based diet he recommends, ut suffered greatly from impaired methylation due to a folate deficiency. Adding legumes, leafy greens and beet juice made me feel a lot better.
    I also wonder why he doesn’t recommend red palm oil or vitamin E supplementation as a strategy to safely recover from seed oils for a few years (temporary), knowing that high PUFA vegetable oils (seed oils) highly upregulate vitamin E requirement, and knowing that, coincidentally, seed oils are often very high vitamin E sources, on top of knowing that these PUFAs have a much higher half life in the body than vitamin E, so if you quit seed oils, your vitamin E requirement stays high for a very long time (+/- 4 years), but your vitamin E is depleted very quickly, requiring a very high vitamin E, but very low PUFA source, like red palm oil or a vitamin E supplement. Not doing this will lead to massive oxidative burden due to the lipid peroxidation that these PUFAs undergo, which create tremendous damage if not buffered with vitamin E.
    Lastly, I also wonder what he thinks about eating brain and prion disease, and how important brain is as a arachidonic and DHA source

    • @kowrw
      @kowrw 13 днів тому +4

      He says Cholesterol levels aren't an "indicator" for higher risks of heart disease but triglycerides and sugar levels like A1C are a bigger predictor of it. If that's true idk.

    • @jacobvasquez5380
      @jacobvasquez5380 13 днів тому +6

      That's not surprising at all, do you have high HDL and low triglycerides? Are you insulin sensitive? Have you done a CAC score, are you active during the day and don't smoke, those are all the main risk factors for heart disease, if you have none of those then you don't have to worry about LDL, especially a good cac score, hope this helps

    • @adrianowallin
      @adrianowallin 13 днів тому

      @ I have some answers… I work out high intensity 3 days a week, and light 2 days. My LDL is actually the one that is higher- for bad fats… my biggest change in diet was grass fed rib eye steaks and butter while eating less chicken. Can say I have been doing so for the past year.. hmm 🤔

    • @jacobvasquez5380
      @jacobvasquez5380 13 днів тому +2

      @adrianowallin how high is it? Mine was 160 last time I checked with a 0 cac score, eating more beef will raise LDL but it's not necessarily gonna raise your cac score

    • @adrianowallin
      @adrianowallin 12 днів тому

      @ My LDL is 120 and was 100 prior to my diet change over a year ago. I will look over my CAC if I can find from last blood work, but not sure I know much about that. I will research that
