  • Heart of the Machine rolls on with Chapter 1: Tactics. You've never done city-building like this before, and there's more for our androids to do. Humans, corporate and private, put in their two cents as well.

This is basically the opposite of AI war. Instead of a human sneaking past AI in plain sight, it's an AI sneaking past humans in plain sight. The importance and complexity of military vs economy has also been flipped. Very odd, very intriguing.

0:23 PFFFFFFFTT Hahahahahahaha!!!! This is funny as crab, not gonna lie. This is exactly the kinda game I always saw failing whenever it was attempted, but this approach is being very much novel, funny, and high quality. Just what I needed after I finished my previous gaming experiences (Swirl W@tch and In Stars And Time, yes I look at many different things). Systemic, horrifying, funny, involved, incredibly convenient, and fun! If I play the full game I am so not going to be bad for humans :D +10 This is practically copied and pasted from Episode 1's explanation, but it's good to force them to read it :)
5:23 This also has much of the QoL writing I often miss, like getting a concrete example fo the worth of Wealth. Super useful.

I notice that your combat bots are marked as defective, but humanity isn't doing anything about it. I'm wondering if getting them back into blending in, on one hand it makes them sneakier but they'll just lose that the next time you have to fight so it may be a waste of time...

Short version; it matters sometimes, and other times it doesn't.
There's a few reasons why they are getting away with it. If I went too close to a military base, they'd get shot immediately. So some of it depends on where in the city you are. This is also incredibly early in the game; it's hard to communicate in the demo but I can't emphasize enough that while it's going to start opening up *some* from being linear soon, the main part of the game after all the tutorializing is done (Chapter 2 onwards) is *extremely* open in terms of the possibilities. There's guardrails here to make sure you aren't just getting into fights all the time and can concentrate on other aspects such as the citybuilding in this video.
I'll also spoiler something that's coming up; we'll need to steal something from one of the military bases to accomplish one of our goals, that's probably a couple videos or so away. If you use bots that are marked defective to do that, it will go quite badly for you :)

@@strategicsage7694 Of course, but I'm wondering if using technicians and other less combat oriented bots for infiltration and not caring about how obvious combat bots are unless you need to sneak them somewhere is better simply because combat bots keep getting revealed because they attack humans openly to defend your assets. So unless you set aside a specific robot as your assassin bot (which could be cool) then it feels like getting combat bots back to 'blending in' status is a waste of time except for specific situations.

In general yes, I don't think it's worth worrying about.
