I started on the 8 inch board, tried different sizes and shapes. Eventually i went back to the 8, it kinda helps me with kickflip, because this trick is hard for me. Now i'm staking 8.0 almost 2 years straight, it works for me.
I've been skating an 8.25 for 8 years and tried an 8.125 the other day and I actually liked it alot more than the 8.25. Some will say it's such a small difference between the two but for some reason I was able to feel the difference. All my flip tricks seemed more effortlessly and my pop was higher. My next board will definitely be an 8in - 8.125in
Same I was riding between 7.5 /7.75 way back. I stepped on an 8 one day way back and I was like pff, this is crazy!! Fast forward I’m on an 8.25 and feel 8.0 is a bit small for me. Funny how things shift.
It's not always the grip tape that's the problem if it comes off when it's cold. The top layer of the board is sometimes too "oily" and therefore the grip does not attach. Use a piece of grip tape and sand off the oily condition 3 centimeters around the entire board. I started doing this "hack" 15 years ago and since then my grip tape has never come off. Cheers from Sweden where we unfortunately have long cold winters.
I remember back in the day I had to really think if 8" board was too big for me. From 7.75" to 8" seemed like a distance of a lifetime. Lately I have been riding anything bigger than 8.5", up to 10" decks
when i was younger in the mid '90s, 7.5-7.75 was pretty standard. i had a buddy who rode 8.5 black label boards and they seemed ridiculously big, even though i'm old enough to have ridden boards from the '80s at 10"+. i really like 8.25" boards but i'll ride about anything. i'm a bigger guy 6'3 220ish, 11.5 feet. so bigger boards are a bit more comfortable. i've been wanting to go bigger but most of my trucks are from the '90s and '00s and are 7.5-7.75, so i'll need some new gear. i really like the '91ish shapes, 9"ish wide, big, tapered nose and kinda squared tail.
I’ve been skating 8.5/8.625 for the past two years. Only been on an 8.25 for a few sessions and I didn’t feel that comfortable. Haven’t been on an 8 in like three years. I’ll try to step it down at some point because I really wouldn’t mind just a tad lighter of a setup but I’m anticipating it’s going to be rough to change. Maybe an 8.38 to start with.
@@fiore_adriano yeah I’m all good on the 8.5s of this world but you know every once in a while you start wondering if tinkering with this or that might not hit that even sweeter spot 😂. Good that you’re having fun! Personally skating lots more than I’ve done for a looong time and having loads of fun myself. Long may it continue!
Man im on an 8.38 Baker right now. I really want 8.0 board. Ive ridden two Deathwish 8.25 boards and it felt like a good in between but id still like experiment something smaller. Edit: Just got an 8.0 Deathwish and I feel like my skating and pop has increased tremendously!
welcome to the 8in club , been rocking 8 in again this year down from 8.5 , I enjoyed 8.5 but just to big also 8.25 i think is good but 8 just feels right for me , I also enjoy the aesthetic of a smaller board
yoooo holy i got SO JUICED at the 2nd half of the video whne you set that board up. gear madness overload. i also have size 11 shoe lol. i dont like mob either i am all about that jessup
Been using Jessup as well lately cos I don't want to change shoes every month 😅 What's your opinion on grippy vs less grippy griptape for flipping your board around? 🙌
@@fiore_adriano interesting 🤔. Mindys are my fav truck, but in general I had struggles riding an 8.25 with 8.0 trucks in the past. Especially on slippery ground, like an indoor park. Looking forward to how it plays out for you :)
Just picked up a 8.5 during skateshop day , i use to never grip my board as well and now I’ve been trying to grip it myself, so stoked to see you skate
Welcome to the 8 club
Thats funny
😂 Thanks Zach. I've already set up an 8.25 since this video.

The smallest measurements definitely can make a big difference.

Been skating 8.25 for a long time now, but started with 8 too. Might go crazy and go back down again. 🙏🏽
All roads lead to 8.25

Daddy Ben would be proud of this video.

yeah I gave my 8 board away Im saving up for a new 8.5 an 8 feels too squirrely
Im short and only wear 10 size shoes too and a bigger board feels more stable I always over rotate my tricks on an 8
10” deck! C’est un bateau

Hey, whatever's working for you and is fun. I've just set up that 8.25 and I'm loving it.

Me 8.0 plus venture low and 51 Classic ✌🏻 my perfect flip board! WB 14 nose 7 . Very hard to find deck like this 😂
If you can find boards pressed by Pennswood their 8 inch boards generally are 14wb with a 7 inch nose.
which board? sounds awesome, tail?
Been using Jessup as well lately cos I don't want to change shoes every month 😅 What's your opinion on grippy vs less grippy griptape for flipping your board around? 🙌
Depends on the shoes too, it's just a matter of adjusting depending on the shoes or the grip. I'll get used to it within a few flicks.
How tall are you? I am 6'3 with a 13 shoe size and usually skating a 8.6/Indie 159/56mm.
I'm 6'
I did the same, went back to a 8''...after a month, I'm back on a 8.5 ahaha
What kinda trucks u gonna put on that new one?
Same trucks.

Hi, you use in that setup Mindys 144 (8.25")?
Yup. Can even do 8.38 with 144's.

what wheels are those and what size>
52mm Spitfire Formula 4 Classics
thanks! how hard are they?
Went from 8.25 to 8.5 best decision i ever made
Love an 8.5 but prefer an 8.25 these days.
