aaaaaaah, explained very well, projects half done, new ones started and then discarded, I know this feeling well. then I get overwhelmed, throw everything in the garbage and start all over again. Thanks for helping me to refocus.

Oh myyyy! I have this thing too.
It is such an overwhelming experience and it ruins self esteem.
Thank you for the video. Now I know clear what it is and how to deal with it.

This video came as good timing. Just over the last few days, I came up with a business idea and started drafting a plan. The idea is probably OK but not great in and of itself, but this video helped me realize that developing the idea now would be a distraction from more pressing but less pleasant goals I need to be focusing on.

Shiny object syndrome arghhh with my new diagnosis with depression and ptsd I know I have this issue. Tbh I know if I establish a routine by now and focused on one thing I’d be a lot further than trying to do too much at once. I’m also thinking as a former gifted kid this disposed me to thinking things should come easy / don’t ask questions.

Check out Abraham Hicks and Marissa Peer (both on YT) re: “your” new diagnosis of depression (it’s actually someone else’s diagnosis of what they think you have). They’re not always right- they don’t know everything.
As a person who’s dealt with “depression” anxiety and panic attacks for YEARS-it’s been my experience that so many “mental health” issues are simply bad HABITS OF THOUGHT. Habits can be built. Habits can be broken.
While it often seems we’re at the mercy of our minds (flashbacks, sadness, anxiety etc.) it’s actually the one thing we have control over- what we ALLOW our mind to focus on is actually truly entirely up to us.
Once I decided I was done dealing with the K-rap- I took back control of my mind. I’m driving the bus- I get to pick what it focuses on-I get to pick how I feel - everything changed for me. Almost overnight. Though like any bad habit- sometimes it takes a bit of time for the good ones to take hold and overpower the old.
Unless your brain is sick- psychosis, fetal alcohol syndrome, schizophrenia… there’s a really good chance there’s nothing “wrong” with you-
But as he says here- if we buy into it, buy into what others tell us- we begin to believe. That tells our mind it’s true and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy…
Focus on all that’s “right” with you. Your strengths- things that make you feel good (even if at first it seems a short list)
Focus on things that always make you feel good, that soothe you. Write out a list of things that make you happy -no matter what: favorite colors, favorite smell (and why), favorite quote, favorite movie, favorite joke or funny bit from a show… carry it with you. As soon as you’re feeling the darkness coming on- read, recite, repeat-FOCUS ON your list. Stop the loop. Change the pattern.
Another thing that helps a great deal is focusing on someone, something other than yourself and your “issues”- volunteer at an animal shelter, help out at a soup kitchen-do a fundraiser for a cause that’s dear to you. You’ll likely be amazed how different you feel.
Little by little the darkness comes less frequently, less strongly- as it’s power is diminished. Eventually it dies off for lack of attention.
Like a bully who’s no longer getting all the attention for his bullying- just disappears…
We have far more control over this than we think- do what feels right. Give Hicks and Peer a listen.
      Wishing you all the best-

I have PTSD, depression, SOS is addictive, it soothes other pains to feel productive but when it doesn't work out...very bad....I recoup and start over...I do see it for what it is, learning from my mistakes. Easier to catch myself.

Your pointless comment contribute absolutely nothing to this comment section. What was your purpose for posting this comment? Do you ask yourself why before you do things? Did you expect people to relate you and sympathize with your inability to get through the video? Is that how you fish your likes? What's the point of having likes? Why is your name eyescreamcake? I have so many questions about you. You are surely an enigma.

My biggest problem is caring what others think. It wasn't that big of a deal until the Wokeness hit. How can you defend yourself against slander when "facts don't matter"? It's hard to stay motivated when people can accuse you of violence based on physical and character traits and NOT words and actions you have done or spoken while simultaneously attacking you verbally and physically. Then people act like you either deserved it or it didn't happen because of your physical and character traits once again. It's maddening!
