So with no main game until 2022, it seems we're treating fan games like major releases now! I can't go anywhere without hearing about this "Sonic Omens", so let's see what all the fuss is about!

What do you guys think about Sonic Omens? Let me know!
game doesnt even run on my pc lol, 8.1gb download and i forgot to check the spec requirements
The game’s some mid. Level design is maze-like and confusing, and the tails levels are hot garbage. Only the first two levels were fun.
My honest opinion: Following Splash Dash’s video and seeing the game myself, this game falls victim to “Sega hire this man” type of fangame. On paper it looks good, but the execution on levels, controls and just all this space. Open Space doesn’t mean good Sonic controls, it just means your boost has a playground that constricts Sonic’s potential.
When I think of Sonic, I think of freedom in his movement and interactions. I feel that Boost while gets the energetic feeling, it sacrifices that attachment to Sonic’s character and the world around him. Back to Omens, it tries to have its cake and eat it too and bit off more than it can chew so far. Like...it’s the Kingdom Hearts 3 problem in terms of combat, Omens is trying to ‘Boost’ itself into an Adventure game. Animations are nice but that’s all I got, pretty graphics doesn’t hide the fangame’s problem.
I mentioned this before that fans praise Sega for their openness to fan games. Omens to me shows the opposite side of “Sega fans are better than Nintendo lol”. We already know about the creator and such, and the over praise is the result of the decline of quality since Generations. The fact that this fangame is getting praised like an “official” game is proof enough. I’m not putting down the effort the people went into make Omens, but it’s only another fangame to me.
But at the same time, it’s not like I can ignore the praise either. Only reason is that the only things currently holding up this hedgehog right now officially is merch and limited digital comics.
It’s become one of my favorite Sonic games to play. The gameplay is so fluid and the boost for once is balanced and incredibly versatile. There’s a learning curve to the game I feel a lot of people are missing cause they go into it trying to compare it to modern or adventure gameplay instead of treating it like its own thing. I.e. everyone complains about the homing attack being inconsistent when it just functions differently. You have to aim the camera at the enemies the same way you would aim in an fps game to trigger the lock on. It’s more challenging than how the homing attack normally is but I like how you have to work for homing attack chains instead of just mashing. Plus the area of range is much larger in which you can hit enemies directly above or below you and anywhere in between
I urge anyone who has played the game to give it another shot and really explore the mechanics of the game. Cause when you get the hang of things the gameplay looks a lot more like this:
ua-cam.com/video/FZJuYIVH0E8/v-deo.html
Dawg shit
3 and a half hours of a man slowly descending into madness while playing a Sonic fangame.
In my opinion the first 3 levels were solid, if they continue to go with that design and work on them they'll be set. Good graphics of course. Shadows stages I really didn't care for tbh
I feel bad for my mans, but i couldn’t help but laugh my ass off when he started yelling like crazy🤣🤣🤣
i don’t feel like it, it’s on the first boss battle
Honestly I think the game is pretty good, even though the first boss is a little too difficult and some levels do need a little adjustment, but at the same time it feels like people are making it hard for themselves to play the game along with all the moaning, complaining, etc and even expecting for it to be so perfect yet its only just a fangame
I agree with this and I also think anyone acting like it’s better than a real sonic game or objectively better than every other fan game ever made are also being dramatic. it’s not amazing and it’s not garbage. it’s just decent or good
True it's just a fangame I don't expect much, even if the boss wasn't difficult sonic fans would always find a way to complain, as for me I kind of liked the boss difficulty it's not easy yet at the same time not hard, we all know full and well that if they made an easy boss that takes like 2 hits and only 30 seconds they would complain oh that's to easy where's the fun in it.
Bro your constant uploads instantly made hooked on your channel. Just wanted to throw that out there and thanks for bringing all that info!
Check out premulous he uploads much more there
Yall praised this game like it was the best sonic game so yes, we are going to judge it against the best sonic games lol
Sonic Omens is so bad that Sonic 4 Episode 1 is better.
Why’d this the only fan game that gets criticised tho what abt sonic gt and sonic utopia or project hero?
That’s stupid. Judging a free fan game compared to AAA Big Budget games that cost $50-60 dollars, and millions to develop. Absolutely stupid.
@@jayevans6146 You do realize they have like no time restrictions? They can make this game as good or as bad as they want and it seems they chose the latter. Triple a companies have time restrictions budgets and so much more limitations and yet they still produce better games. These fan game developers really have no excuse.
@@uv21 And? As if time restrictions measure up to the millions of dollars, professional staff, and market pricing, and literal years that Sega/Sonic Team has. Their last project took them 4 years. Even with the engine, that’s ridiculous.
Sega is the one that should have no excuse to put out mediocrity.
Honestly, after replaying this, I can say that the Tails actress could actually voice in official video games, but definitely does not compare to Modern Cast or 4Kids Tails.
1:09:19 = First Sonamy age gap chat I could find (start of debate)
1:12:45 = Premy Notices the debate and verbally replies to the debate.
1:18:55 = Premy notices that the debates' still going on.
1:22:47 = Prem notices that they're STILL arguing about Sonic and Amy shipping, Princess Elise and Sally Acorn have joined the argument as well.
You've got to be freaking kidding me, shipping's cool and all as long as it doesn't get creepy, but this is just rediculous, they a bunch of them aren't even chatting about the game stream because they're arguing about the 3-Year-Age gap between too middle/high school-aged anthropomorphic hedgehogs.
Yea so ?
i feel like im the only one who wants the sonic x spindash sound to be in a game
Which one the dub or sub sound?
@@sunshinex2012 4kids sound
@@CosmicFox2007 I agree then
I feel like I'm the only one who wants the Sonic R spring sound to be used in the main games.

I was positive that it wasn't that hard to play this game. Lol
He isn't a pro gamer like us 👀
@@BLOODY__FATALITY I'm not even gonna lie. I had a hard time at the more windy section, but once I got a hang of the flying, I was out of there. I was enjoying the struggle, it was fun. Needed a more difficult Sonic game. And again, I didn't realize that way out was the direction the boss was blocking. It only took me like 10 seconds to realize. And then the boss battle was easy. I had a great time with this game.
It’s an adventure game with a boost strictly as a tool and not an auto pilot and it works well; generations colors and forces bored me. With this I’m in control 100% of the time, it took some getting used to cause of muscle memory; we never had a game like this before especially from a official Sonic game
if the bosses were designed better and the plane was gone, i'd honestly think this fangame wasn't that bad. i enjoyed everything else.
Dude, I went past the plane section in 10 min and no deaths. All bosses were also easy and quite simple. Premy is most of the time blaming the game for his bad gameplay, but in reality it's his fault (sometimes).
I finished the game in about 40 minutes without struggling on my first play through, sucks that you seemed to struggle so much with it though, I thought it was fun as
The homing attack seems to work in accordance to if the camera is directly facing the target that you're trying to home in on. The camera has to be positioned to where the target is directly in front of you in order for the homing attack to work. Whatever's beside, above, below or behind you ends up not being targeted regardless of if Sonic himself is facing the direction of the target. Even Forces had that problem to some extent. It's one of the many things I hate about this fan game in terms of its gameplay and design choices.
@ALLAN LOUIS JEUNE Yeah, I've just been busy with stuff in my personal life, I had to be off the internet for a bit.
Not everyone is used to the invert controls for flying as far as the sonic community goes
Even so it should definitely be an option to toggle on/off.
Premy you gotta try plying the sonic gt fan game. Since you love the adventure format that game is the best evolution of that formula I think you’d love it. Love your content dude!!
No disrespect to Tails' actress but she made Tails sound like a girl. Colleen Ann Villard is the best Tails voice so far, I just thing she should've tried it her way.
The actress is a lower pitch away from sounding like Blaze.
Well its a fangame so eh. It should only be a problem if she was auditioning

The biggest complaint about modern sonic: Levels are too linear
Prem's first complaint about this game (that isn't him not understanding you need to aim the homing attack with the camera): "The game's too open and it limits how much Sonic can interact with the world."
Honestly, I'd say this is precisely as open as sonic should be. Open enough that you can boost without launching off a cliff and control sonic, but enough detail that there's almost always something to do. Like Sonic GT, but instead of flying across the map 90% of the time, you're actually running (and actually controlling) a boosting Sonic, weaving through obstacles and past (or through) enemies. Right now, Sonic Omens is my ideal Sonic game (though the Tree Palace can go suck a fat one and the Vortex boss could use less HP). It has exactly the kind of gameplay I've always wanted: The speed of boost and the agility of adventure.
"The biggest complaint about modern sonic" by who? Are you assuming we all have the same opinions on Sonic level design?
@@premydaremy Most complaints I see about Sonic since Forces (relating to gameplay) is "Sonic games are too straightforward" or "Sonic games are too linear." This was the BIG complaint with Forces (next to the game being boost to win) with there being very minimal side paths in 3D sections and just in general being a very heavily linear, boost-to-win game. I'm not 100% sure where the complaint with it being too open is, seeing as its around the same effective scale as your average Adventure level. Yes, physically, its larger, but that's to accommodate for Sonic's far higher speed. Personally, I really enjoy being able to go back to a level in this game (mostly the first three) and find a new route or secret that I didn't see before. The levels are incredibly expansive, but they still direct you towards the goal, unlike something like Utopia, which is just open world with no direction.
Sorry if I came off as aggressive in the comment, it's just a very common complaint I see about Sonic games.
Sonic gt is pretty linear, yes there's lot of set pieces but the goal is pretty much always clear or at least there's lot to do because of the momentum mechanic, here there's lot of space with nothing because they needed space where boost good be used, or straight lines
@@Max-Rtpmp There are just "boost lines" in this game, yes, but the first three levels (Wellspring, Chao Paradise, and Area 99) are good examples of mixing the boost with the stage instead of just having "Boost here". Beyond this point it falls into the "boost here, platform here" issue, but I honestly found myself boosting through most of those stages.
2:46:47 is what im here for.
Sonic colors when you had to escape the black hole the camera wasn't behind you the entire time
Also Sonic 06 when you escape from the fire hurricane.
1:07:05 What I am being informed of is that I'm weird. Because I hate when the controls are traditional for aircrafts. I blame Nintendo because in the older games they had with aim *cough* Ocarina of time's aim controls, Star Fox 64...Like at least have the option to change inverted controls.
From what I've seen Sonic Omens (aka Sonic: 2020) looks about as good as a Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) or Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) demo, not great (is pretty and has decent music) but not bad, although it's annoying parts look to be as bad as Cool Edge Night which is no bueno. Needs a lot of polishing and improvements, hopefully the indie devs start up a survey or use pulls to gain player interest in certain quality of life features. As for the donation patron thing I think that they should've had it exclusive go to the devs, not towards the game.
Great stream, Premy! I liked your commentary. Sad (but lowkey funny) to see you suffer throughout the game though.
I never seen prem rage this hard about a first boss😂
although the fan game is good, the creator is profiting off of a character that they do not own. due to legal reasons, this is super wrong in every regard.
ngl that first boss fight was pretty hard watch. you have a boost, use it. like you keep asking how you can dodge the attacks from the boss but at the end you literally dodge that attack that gave you so much trouble.
I send Bolt a message on twitter to fix the game. Let's hope for the best he does fix it.
He blocks everyone who criticises his game
@@mittensdacat wait really? I mean I know he's a scammer in terms of patron and stuff but I didn't realise that he was blocked people that criticized the game
@@mittensdacat not true, people have been throwing hate bombs his way because of the popularity its garnered and the debatable legal issues, not genuine criticism. So of course i understand him blocking people. Some people think they're criticizing something but dont realize they're just insulting the creator out of other personal means, then get surprised when they're not listened to- or blocked
@@jaxxxx1984 The Game Apologist had a similar take on the Sunset City podcast. Educated viewers on the difference between constructive criticism and something you would prefer for yourself. I don't know the whole situation, but it looks like Sonic fans are making it seem worse than it actually is and it's depressing.
@@retrowavestudios1851 wait, how is he a scammer? Optional donations aren't a scam and as far as I know, they don't put the new builds in Patreon anymore and haven't for a year or so
Unless you are one of those people lately who are being a bit over dramatic about copyright laws and fear mongering over it. Which by the way, with Sega's history of how they treat fangames it's HIGHLY unlikely they'll just out of the blue send out C&D without SOME communication
You play like a two year old prem, I'm just saying. A lot of the things you want in a sonic game are akin to hand holding and slow paced nightmares. My ideas for Sonic, and your ideas for Sonic are VERY different. But GG
I didn't realize Eggmanland was hand holding!
You and I align when it comes to unleashed. That's my favorite game in the series. I said a LOT of the things you want, not all of them. Hence, why I'm watching your shit from time to time.
Prem, Basically He Made A Patreon For The Game And Everyone Donated Money To It, But Then Everyone Realized That That Was Stupid So They Stopped Donating. Yeah They Try To Say They Changed It, But A Lot Of People Could Tell It Was Still For The Game So They Never Donated To Him Again.
isnt project hero sort of like adventure type?
Watch, Sonic show's vid on sonic omens. People are being drama queens. Sonic omens is great. Not perfect, but great!
I think this was made in Germany
I wanted to do an adventure game but the project fell through and now I'm not a sonic fan anymore.
Wait what?
@@jaxxxx1984 the fan base was so cut froat and since I had already been kicked out of 3 sonic discord servers due to arguments I desided thats it I'm done sell my sonic figure collection I want nothing to do with sonic.
With thst theres no reason to continue any more fan projects with sonic so I canceled them all.
I still like sally acorn though.
@@njfox3305 fan bases can definitely suck man but that shouldn't influence your enjoyment of a product. If you enjoy sonic games or sonic art, designs, or even fan games- enjoy them. I'll keep my place as a sally acorn fan though but the odds of her coming back are zero to negative infinity.
@@njfox3305 i just wouldn't let a fan base control my enjoyment of a product. I like the product- not the fans
Oh come on guys, you're just hating on this because of that Patreon stuff... Judge the product - not the producers.
No 2.5D, many playable characters, NOT boost-to-win, little puzzles in the stages, on-character lines in dialogues, acknowledging the established lore... And even great cutscenes!
Let's be honest, this is a good game.
There's quite a bit of Rail Grinding, which is just as automated as it's always been since 06.
Alright, why is it that whenever I try to run forward in the White Jungle level, If I so much as try to move a different direction Sonic stops in place entirely?
@@noone-mo6gy Because it's an unoptomized fangame you can download for free.
@@marinomele4575 Yes I would agree with that, if he wasn't using his patreon for the game, and don't give me that whole, "DURRR! IT'S FOR HIS GAME STUDIO!" Crap, we all know he was making money from the whole "Pay me this much and I'll put that level in the game." Bullshit he was doing.
@@noone-mo6gy I'm not fully aware of the drama behind it, but I doubt drama is stopping your Sonic in place.
