I'm still amazed by the DK64 runners (years after release) discovering an extra banana coin hidden in some hedges, changing the 100% speedrun and effectively nullifying all current runs in the category.
@@ManillaHeep dunno about a video I could point you to, but a quick explanation is that the coin in question is hidden under a patch of dirt that you need to specifically interact with, so you wouldn't blindly and accidentally pick up the coin by just walking past it. There's many coins like this in the game. What makes this one special is that the patch of dirt is under a flower hedge that you can walk through, and being a N64 game, the hedge is completely opaque, so you can't possibly see the patch of dirt underneath. I forgot how it was found specifically, if you find a video on it you can probably get the answer, but I think (and don't quote me on that) it was someone messing around and looking at the game's models
You have absolutely made my day! I finally feel vindicated for running into this glitch as a kid. I distinctly remember ending up with a Croissant equipped in Peaceful Rest Valley but I was never able to reproduce it. Years later I eventually just wrote it off as a one-off glitch specific to my console or cartridge. Turns out I likely forgot to equip the Travel Charm until I was in combat, teddy bear got destroyed, then it equipped the recently looted Croissant instead!
I just had a funny thought. Jeff is standing in battle against the star man. He has the bottle of dx water in one hand intending to pass it to poo and in the other hand his hat. Star man slaps the hat out of his hand and in a panic he puts the water on his head instead

What I don't get is why this glitch is only used in all photo runs. I've only really tried glitchless runs, and it's been a while since I even looked at any% of any flavor, but why would photo% need to (1) skip Rabbit's Foot and (2) have a use for an item that does the same thing as Rabbit's Foot, where a regular any% wouldn't. This isn't really well explained at all in the video, and I suspect it's fairly complex requiring you to know what the barriers are for each of the categories, but I'm hoping that maybe someone can provide a succinct summary of it. Is the Rabbit's Foot substitute just one of the many uses? It sounded like that was the only one that mattered.
Photo% wouldn't go to Lumine Hall at all because it can just OOB clip to Magicant instead of collecting every sanctuary, therefore it never goes anywhere near the Rabbit's Foot. It does, however, fight Starman DX because it's necessary for getting the Tenda Village photo. With glitched Any% being such a short and tightly optimized category, it's less likely a glitch like this would be useful, especially if it involves an extra fight.
And now presenting the strongest armor in the game (but not really): a teddy bear! It's already taking the hits for you, and NOW you can wear it on your body slot to save you the trouble! Stay thirsty, my friends. And normally I'd just make my silly comment and move on, but you had to throw in a snippet of best girl Rydia getting an Ether, so you get a like too. I'm shallow like that.
"its a shame this bug wasnt more game breaking" haha, i totally agree. Games have way more replay value when the variables share the same data slots because of hardware limitations, crazy bugs are a good thing so long as they dont come out of the woodwork too fast. Todays games are all overdeveloped in that regard, the lack of limitation has caused something that we love to be lost. We solved a problem, but that doesnt necessarily mean we made thinsg better
I had to link the game technical resources as the 1 site with the item duplication glitch info is currently down. I’ll link the page when it comes back up

When I think of Earthbound glitches I think of qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqa

Which was about the contents of a text box that appeared when my brother was trying to unlock debug mode in Onett.

Damn I wanna take out the cartridge just to try this
the turning off my console glitch. i win! Gigyas is nothing compared to the horror which is I outside the limited place he exists within.
I enjoyed this video.
no
For me, it's the Skip Sandwich glitches
Is there an explanation as for why equipping non-equipable items gives you certain stat increases and resistances?
The github link in the description shows what equip slots are assigned to what stats I believe
@@DoctorSwellman I think they want to know why the items give you stats at all, rather than why they give you specific ones.
Can this glitch be used with bombs and bottle rockets? Using the bomb having the bear be destroyed and then using an unexpected item instead?
It does work!
Fuzzy pickles = hey WTF?
@@swagar Thank you for that explanation.
**why did they have to specify no debug menu in the rules**
There’s a separate category that uses the debug menu to warp post credits
finally casey bat is useful
Thank you
And now presenting the strongest armor in the game (but not really): a teddy bear!
Earthbound is still alive!!!!
i did the stair glitch by accident
"its a shame this bug wasnt more game breaking"
haha, i totally agree.
I don't see a link to the item duplication glitch.
I had to link the game technical resources as the 1 site with the item duplication glitch info is currently down. I’ll link the page when it comes back up
You can speed run earthbound?

You could say these glitches were Earth Bound.
Were there people actually speedrunnning this game? It's unironically too long for one sitting.
