Just to add: She was born in Maryland (1820). Her parents had 11 children. On the age of five she was forced to work. When she was 13 she stood up for a other slave and the farmer then hit her over the head that caused that she had head-problems for the rest of her life. When she was 25 she got married to a bad man, she kept saying she will be free or die, he then said he wouldn't allow that she will be free. The farmer then died and there were rumors that she and her two brothers will be chained and work in the field. So they then took off (1849), her brothers then went back because they started to get scared. She still went on, by foot of course. After 12 years she went back 18/19 times and set more than 300 slaves free. In 1850 she got her sister. In 1851 she got her brother. In 1854 she got her other 3 brothers and in 1857 she rescued her parents. She got all of this right because she was so organized and her religion got her through everything. She always had a gun on her back to scare the other slaves. She was extremely strict and if a slave wanted to go back she said she was going to shoot them (because they would be witnesses). She was so good and strict that not ONE slave wanted to go back. In 1913, 10 March she died on the age of 93. She also created the Underground Railroad. America was so proud that they 'gifted' her a ship and a "gedenkposseël". She is an amazing woman with a huge heart and I believe that she is/was one of the few people that had the guts to do what she did in that time (1800's - 1900's)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ADDING ALL THIS EXTRA INFORMATION IN! I AM DOING A HUGE BIOGRAPHY PROJECT ON MY IDOL HARRIET TUBMAN AND YOU MADE IT 50 TIMES EASIER. THANK YOU!!! AND DONT WORRY IF YOU THINK I DIRECTLY COPIED, I PARAPHRASED IT! :) THANK YOU

Harriet Tubman's story is beautiful. She went back to her plantion and freed more slaves after she already left. That shows unconditional love and care. She has a heart of gold. Thank you Harriet. 💛
she did not die of the weight she died of natural causes of old age and pneumonia so she did not die of the heavy metal thing BTW that only left a scar
+swag master no she only died for one reason which was pneumonia not pneumonia and old age plus she might have died at 93 but your never old to do anything even to be in charge of the underground railroad and to lead slaves there
Sei Ngam if i'm just saying that she died of pneumonia witch was the only reason i'm just pointing it out there's a huge difference between pointing things and correcting people
FROM SCENES IN THE LIFE OF HARRIET TUBMAN: "There are those who will sneer, there are those who have already done so, at this quixotic attempt to make a heroine of a black woman, and a slave; but it may possibly be that there are some natures, though concealed under fairer skins, who have not the capacity to comprehend such general and self-sacrificing devotion to the cause of others as that here delineated, and therefore they resort to scorn and ridicule, in order to throw discredit upon the whole story. "
I was feeling the song, I remember being in the 3rd grade and seeing this movie, and this was our favorite to look at. We were young and didnt understand it completely but we did recognize that she was a brave young lady who did justice for her people, and the astonishing number of slaves she helped become free is crazy! She risked her life to help others in need. She was a great woman that did great duty.
Damn...I remember watching this, I'm older but this was a damn jam but my brother was scared of it 😂 But I came back to rewatch it because I was young and didn't understand much of the word.
The is great, the song is song by Cee Cee Michaela (the Actress Yvonne from the hit TV show Girl Friends) and is available for $5.00 at her online store @ website CeeCeeMichaela.com.
Other slaves would leave other people because they were scared but this girl her names will be remembered forever not only did she escaped she RISKeD her on life for others
Harriet is truly amazing if it weren't for her we would probably have slavery still she really deserves a nice house and more food than ever bc in a book she only ate table scraps truly sad
Wow Harriet is amazing. She saved hundreds of slaves. The slaveholders placed a bounty on her head for 40,000. Harriet is an inspiration for not just black people, but for all of us. I don't get why there are 200 dislikes. Harriet is a brave woman who risked her life to get her family out of slavery. She did more than that! She was born a slave. She was treated harshly. But she escaped and helped over 300 others escape. Harriet will live on in heaven for her hard work.
Who was her master? Anybody ever thought she was never a slave and always free? How did she know those lands so well? To run those forests and know every blind spot. They never found them sleeping? White men that were"from" those parts didn't know every nook and cranny? I believe they've told all of our history wrong!
My teacher #Castaňeda told us about all she did and I love this women bless her soul I guezz people should appreciate what people like her did and do something for themself and others...I'm really glad I learned about her..♡
I remember watching this in 4th grade at school every day for a week or two, we all sang along. Now, her story impacts me more as an aspiring youth and civil rights activist. Truly a hero.
