It’s so hard to find decent videos on people doing boat floors. Your videos, part 1 and 2 are fantastic. So many questions answered just by watching you. Appreciate it man
Top tip to prevent wood ripping when drilling, run the drill backward for the start of the hole, then drill as normal. Works a treat in any wood, especially in ply. 👍
legit video im getting ready to do this to my center console and put a top on it this video told me everything i need to know about pouring that stuff. thanks my friend
I'm thinking of all the fun times you and your family/hoover boys will have with this boat either river metal detecting or fishing trips. I like the scratch the beer, go for the bourbon. I'm a big Scotch or Rum fan.
I'm about to be doing the same thing. Just finished all the support structure, and tomorrow the decking goes in. Looks fairly straight forward. Which is what we always say right before a huge disaster !!
I made my Starflite 21 and I only raised the bow, I made a hole on each side and the foam expanded to the front where I made the hole, it was easier for me because they are stringers along the length and not across
After the nervousness, it looked kinda fun! I hope you film all the rest of this project 'cause you've got me hooked. Looking forward to the next installment!
Great job Kurt! Your boat is really coming along fine! It looks like you had a well thought out and prepared plan for doing the foam. Thanks for sharing this project with us, it's been very informative and educational!
That two part foam is very cool stuff. Love watching your project come together. I can relate to being scared to try for first time. Keep up the great work
Hope you are still responding to questions on this old video. I have the EXACT same boat, and have begun a very similar process, and this video has really been incredibly helpful. I've already gotten in touch with Total Boat, and they are indeed a great company to work with. My main goals were to get rid of the awful carpeting and put down some durable decking liner paint, and to replace the seat boxes with pedestal chairs. I got lucky and found no rot when inspecting my flooring, and because I don't want to make this project crazy huge (i'd like to be back out on the water this spring/summer), my plan was to cut the boxes down to about 4" off the deck, install laminated lumber for a solid platform for the seats, and then cap with plywood and glass over, much as you did. It would be nice to have a totally flat floor but I can live with small rises and i'll still have much more room with those boxes removed. Okay, so FINALLY onto my question. I've researched whether or not it is structurally okay to remove the seat boxes, and the internet forums are giving me different answers. Some say to go ahead and do it, plenty of people have done it before, and others say that because they are glassed into the hull on the sides they are important to the structural integrity of the boat. So I figured i'd ask someone who has actually done this on my same boat. Did you do any research on this yourself, and more importantly how are things holding up after your modifications? Lastly, is there anything you wish you would have done differently that you would like to share with someone who has just embarked on a very similar project? Thanks in advance to any/all advice. Sail on, sailor!
Thank you for the support! I'm no expert. I've seen other people do it so I went with it. No problems so far. It really opens up the deck with more room for activities. Good Luck!
That's pretty neat 👌 used to use the foam in the can for plugging holes in the wall construction, stuff expands pretty fast. Thanks for showing me something new 😁 have to start watching this channel, and of course Hoover boys 😉
Nicely done. You are making it look easy. Makes me want to go buy one of the many older cheap fiberglass boats for sale around here. Seems like the rotten floor is the common issue. Thanks for sharing and take care. ✌
I watch your derecting videos so I was surprised to see this one , I like that you were a little nervous on doing this , I am getting ready to do the samething to my aluminium boat thanks Kurt for the how to......
I've been wanting to do almost the same thing.Ive been scared to make the first hole and doing some cutting. Iam not now well I think iam not best I've seen on UA-cam how to pour foam on boat deck thank you
Hey nice work, I got a 92 bayliner classic I was given for free any pointers on where to start doing some research I need to do similar job just don't know where to start or ever worked with fiberglass
Great video thanks, did you use 2 lb or 6 lb version. And what is the size of your bayliner? Think I need the gallon kit for my foot 14 foot with about 8 feet of hull to fill up 4o 6 inches deep...thx so much
I like te zip lock bag idea that foam is stupid expensive in my neck of the woods so less waste is good in my books. How much foam did you go though in your boat?
@@MentalHealthDay82 Well Sir I think I need to redo my math I figure four jugs of each to do my boat its an old 18 foot Rienell tri hull and I thought I was being conservatives maybe even on the light side. Much appreciate the reply and good luck with your project
There are videos of people pouring before installing floor and it seems to always over expand, then they have to cut it in order to install floor. This method is more efficient.
Purple foam boards from Lowes or Home Depot . Buy the name brand ones . They actually seem to work way better . A hull full of ping pong balls would work better than that foam . Hundreds of videos on youtube where that stuff has failed , absorbed water , broken down and screwed up the bilge pump with the mess .
This won't improve the "flotation' of this boat , you have just displased the air in the cavity and replaced it with slightly heavier foam , so you've added a few kilos of weight and the boat will be slightly lower in the water . You will have added to the strenggth of the boat , but it looks pretty sturdy anyway.
If you had simply waited for the foam to expand to reach the bottom of the hole, then dropped the pucks in the hole of the cavities that you didn't overfill as the foam came up, then you could have used your block to hold the puck and saved yourself the time spent with the chisel.
There’s something about accomplishing a task that can be extremely satisfying/fulfilling. Keep up the good work. Happy Holidays from Kansas City to you and your beautiful family.

Appreciate the support!
Dude!
The bags are genius!!!!!
Thanks! They worked great
Looking great Kurt. You better show it all. I’m invested. Lol
I love that you were scared and you still did it. Your honesty and courage is inspiring!
Much appreciated!
Thank you for sharing. Many of us out here really appreciate it. About to do this on my ‘78 MasterCraft. Staring at the 2 gallon kit on my counter.
That 2 part foam is slick! That boat is going to be solid. Nice work!
Thanks!
You made me as excited like I was there doing it lol

Works a treat in any wood, especially in ply. 👍
Definitely wish I knew that trick. Thanks!
It's Looking good Kurt can't wait to see the finished product it's going to be a whole new boat.
You always make me smile!

You've got the tricks!
thank goodness for your video, now I'm not scared anymore, of like drowning or some thing like that, which almost happened to me before.
“I made a plan and then got scared about doing it… then said alright I gotta do it and do it” 😂😂😂 felt that one for sure
Hahaha
Thanks for sharing. Enjoying your educational video.
I think that was a great idea using the zip lock bags
Thanks!
That's looking great. Been fun seeing it come together.
"Gonna scratch the beer idea and go straight to bourbon." Lol. Merry Christmas and God Bless.
Thanks! Merry Christmas
Scratch the beer and go straight to bourbon! Love it
Booze makes all things ruined again!
This is an excellent video on how to foam. I'm at same step in my rebuild and now feel confident about doing it right. Great idea using the bags.
Thank you! Good luck
After the nervousness, it looked kinda fun! I hope you film all the rest of this project 'cause you've got me hooked. Looking forward to the next installment!
Thanks! You nailed how I felt
Great job man! Excellent planning, prep, good flow of working processes, and the video too! My hat is off to you Sir.
Much appreciated! Thanks
This video is great going to restore the floor with foam
Thanks! Good luck
Insane project but it will be worth all the time and effort ☺️

You’re doing a great job
Good stuff man!!! Thanks for the vid!!
Thank you
Good video man. I'm not far off from the same adventure.
Good luck!
Looking good!

I gotta say this is a great video, as I need to do this exact chore. But…. You had My anxiety on 11 watching this. Ha ha! Thank you.
Nice job I'd bet you also made the hull more ridged 👍
Thanks!
Awesome
I watch your derecting videos so I was surprised to see this one , I like that you were a little nervous on doing this , I am getting ready to do the samething to my aluminium boat thanks Kurt for the how to......
I used to mix my resin the same way until I realized I could just pour one cup into the other! Use 2 cups instead of 3🙂
For a single use you could do that, but if your doing multiple batches you don’t want to do that.
I've been wanting to do almost the same thing.Ive been scared to make the first hole and doing some cutting. Iam not now well I think iam not best I've seen on UA-cam how to pour foam on boat deck thank you
How many gals of the TotalBoat foam did you end up using? great video thank you
I have leftovers from the 2 bottles
Friend, your anxiety before doing the job is like watching myself lol
Haha! Guess it's natural
Do you think it could be spread on an uneven surface like a truck cap to insulate it?
Ziplock bags are brillent......
Thanks!
Hey nice work, I got a 92 bayliner classic I was given for free any pointers on where to start doing some research I need to do similar job just don't know where to start or ever worked with fiberglass
I watched tons of videos. Just have to start. The process takes a very long time. Good luck
Was the gallon of part A and gallon of part B enough foam to fill the hull or did you need more. I'm trying to figure out how much I need. Thanks
Yes it was for me. I have a little left over
whats the ratio u used for resin to chopped strand to silica mix? I assumed 2:1:1 but i want to make sure
how much prduct did you actually use on all these cells? trying to see how much to buy for my boat.
I had leftovers from these 2 bottles
Great video thanks, did you use 2 lb or 6 lb version. And what is the size of your bayliner? Think I need the gallon kit for my foot 14 foot with about 8 feet of hull to fill up 4o 6 inches deep...thx so much
I believe 2lb. My boat is 19'
I like te zip lock bag idea that foam is stupid expensive in my neck of the woods so less waste is good in my books. How much foam did you go though in your boat?
I had just enough with these 2 bottles. I may have a pinch left over
@@MentalHealthDay82 Well Sir I think I need to redo my math I figure four jugs of each to do my boat its an old 18 foot Rienell tri hull and I thought I was being conservatives maybe even on the light side.

question for you. while its coming out of the floor could you scoop it up whiles its still soft before it gets hard?
Cool!
Did you have to do anything to the underside of the plywood?
do you have to put the foam under the flooring
How did your boat work out
Kurt, how much flotation foam did you use, what size bottles did you buy?
Both bottles are 1 gallon. So 2 gallons. I had some left over.
This is what I bought:
amzn.to/3Sa1Tsv
How much foam did you need for your boat?
Anyone used sheet foam instead? In the demo stage on my project boat ripping out the floor, pulling idk how many pounds of saturated foam out..
i think when i do it to my boat i will be scared as hell too but lucky i don't have to fibreglass
what kind of wood did you use?
Marine Grade Plywoood
What made you replace the foam.
Where is the fisnished floor video
How to get the content from you?
You being nervous make me feel better about do this myself...nerve raceting
😮😮 me to
How can i get the product
👍🏻
Longest seconds I’ve ever lived
Haha!
You should have filled below decks before installing the floor! Why was that not the route chosen?
This is the only way I've seen it done.
There are videos of people pouring before installing floor and it seems to always over expand, then they have to cut it in order to install floor. This method is more efficient.
get method. will steal.
Thanks and good luck!

.......never use PU-foams in boats! Never use foam in boats . You can not check the hull!

No offense but this boat series seems like the complete opposite of a “mental health day”. At least it would be for me. 😃
True that. But I've actually enjoyed it
There’s something about accomplishing a task that can be extremely satisfying/fulfilling. Keep up the good work. Happy Holidays from Kansas City to you and your beautiful family.
no need to do it with holes you can do it before to install the plywood ...the foam dont need to be under pressure
foam is a waste of time in any boat, i take it all out
