Today, Jared shows us how he fixed his broken 2016 Nissan Titan XD, by buying a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 HD! This is by far the best truck he could have bought...but that doesn't mean it's perfect.

What's up with the bumper cover on the passenger side of the truck? Sticks back towards the front wheel a bit.

The regens is alot less on my ram versus the Titan. The Titan would regen every tank and a half where my ram has regen every 1000 or so miles. Def usage as well is less. Don't know If that little cummins was underpowered for the weight and was overworked causing more def and regen or just a bad design.

Make sure to check in on the CP4, might not go, but if it does it takes out the whole fuel system. CP3 conversions are super common in LMLs

  • @argarage517

An LML is a completely different engine than a L5P and shares almost nothing in common. Still a great engine tho but definitely wanna look into swapping out the cp4 for a cp3 for piece of mind.

Those vibrating seats are on another level in the Denali. The very first time I ever pulled one into my bay to work on, I felt the seat vibrating and it felt very intuitive. I instantly knew it was telling me I was getting close to an obstacle, without any prior knowledge of the system. That's awesome design imo.

You guys just helped me! I was thinking about selling my 2016 Silverado High Country 6.6HD TD crew cab long bed, just like your Denali, except mine has less than 11K miles. You've just told me that my asking price should be north of 65K, and maybe more... I'll look at competition on AutoTempist and check it out. Oh, the 2017 L5P engine is a brand new motor. It happens to be the same size 6.6L, but it is a different engine with app 60 more HP and 150 more FT TQ. That said, LML engines are nice engines. I think you'll enjoy this truck for years to come! Have fun!

2016 Super Duty 350 DRW 22k miles, almost every option but heated steering wheel, got in August at peak of the market on these.
$56k out the door. For the record, you paid L5P price for a LML. Be sure to update soon the soon-to-be failure parts. Got rid of a LML last year because got tired of fixing it

Good deal. I bought my 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500hd crew cab with 92k miles for $10k that was the best deal I've ever stumbled upon. Then the company sold a fully loaded ltz duramax quad cab with roughly the same mileage for 26k. Definitely would of loved to have that truck

My bro has hot-shot delivery service and also runs new RVs all over the country. He was a Chevy guy. He learned the hard way with GMC 3500's . Both were gone with 100k on odometer. Mechanically salvaged b/c of costs to repair. He bought a dodge 1 ton dually cummins, then another one. He eventually had 3 guys and 4 dodge 1 tons doing 250 + thousand a year on them. The problem with them however was the engines were good tho expensive to repair but the trucks around the engine fell apart. Especially brake issues. He's got a Ford F-450 now w/ 500k on it and is gonna trade it in for another b/c they still have value. Yep.

One should find out if the high pressure fuel pump has been replaced. A good number of them like to grenade and it wipes out the whole fuel system with metal particles throughout the whole system. You have to replace everything. Pump, high pressure lines, fuel rails, injectors, filter housing, and sometimes the fuel tank lines and the tank. It's about a $10k job. Pump replacement is a grand. Mind you it makes for less dramatic youtube vids.
If you're going to turn up the power you're talking out of that truck, get a transmission with a PPE stage 5 kit, Goerend transmission cover kit, and a Goerend triple disk billet torque converter. If you don't, and you turn the power up on the truck, you'll eat that transmission in short order.
LML engines also like snapping cranks. Tuned ones do it, and stock ones do it. If you want to push the truck hard, upgrade the crank to a billet one, or at the very least get this one balanced. A stock LBZ crank is likely an upgrade as well. LML engines will also crack pistons. LB7 pistons are the best stock ones and fit. Mahle has upgraded pistons. Lincoln Diesel sells a full rebuild kit for that engine.
For the small fee of $10 a hp, you can buy the parts to get 1000 hp reliably out of that truck.

Beware of the Bosch CP4 injectior pump. Due to the low lubricity of modern ULSD fuel, the injectior pump can catastrophically fail by internally grenading itself and leaving metal shavings throughout your fuel system, thus destroying it. Look into a CP3 conversion or adding a lift pump to combat this issue and prolong the life of the engine.

  • @jimm2442

    Very nice truck, congratulations.
I do not want to introduce a negative in any way but in case you do not already know GM used the CP4 Bosch High pressure fuel pump from 2011 through 2016 on the 6.6 Duramax. There is a class action law suit currently due to the fact that this pump is prone to failure and when it does it will spread metal throughout the fuel system requiring new injectors, pump, fuel rails, etc $$$. Apparently it is easy to check for the problem and if caught very early there are remedies. In 2017 when GM started producing the L5P 6.6 Duramax they went to the Denso high pressure pump. There are probably many thousands of these trucks with very high mileage that will never have an issue. That said you might consider looking into it if you have not already, knowledge is everything. Thanks for the video, I am now subscribed and looking forward to more!

Just traded my Titan in for a 2500 Denali black diamond edition and got a rock chip within a week. Safelight patched it up but still noticeable. Luckily it is on the passenger side. 83k truck and the dealership ruined the paint from the get go and a rock chip. Not the best of starts so far.
