Lever action rifles are not just classic items with a vintage look. here are two new Pedersoli 1886 rifles during some pure shooting tests. The future is a state of the art hunting rifle, the Boarbuster Mark II in .444 Marlin cal. The past is represented by the 1886 Classic version in 45/70 Govt. cal. Both shot to 50 and 100 meters.
Pedrsoli is lucky to have you. You have sold me many of their guns.
I just bought this rifle last December and I can honestly say that it is best smoothest leveraction I own I also own a Winchester miruki 24 inch rifle that has been had a action job but it still doesn't come close to the pedersoli I've waited since 2016 and I can say the wait was worth it I got the last one available in the USA ,thanks for introducing me to pedersoli company god bless you cap and ball
I don’t care for the modern version but the classic one looks beautiful!
im glad i checked comments first,i was about to say the exact same thing
pedersoli is weak action. get a realistic uberti.
You are one of my top five revue / presenters, you have that gift ,very knowledgeable with a pleasant manner giving us accurate information with no bullshit .regards from the UK.
Ps.Forgot to say ,you remind me of Richard the assassin in boardwalk empire with your glasses on
You are a ringer for him .
These are some beautiful and interesting lever actions, The 1886 is one of my favorite designs, well done
Very nice Shooting. I have the Browning 1886 which is made in Japan and it is outstanding. But it was relatively expensive. However the quality of workmanship was something I had never seen before.
I’m glad the lever gun is being touted as more modern design with the boar buster rifle I think it opens up their product line to new customers and might be a gateway for someone to be a collector. That being said I prefer the classic look and feel but that is just me
That colored case hardening is some of the best I've seen. Absolutely beautiful. And great video, as always.
I just wanted to say that your channel is part of what inspired me to get into black powder shooting. I just got back from firing my 1858 remington, my first BP gun, for the first time. It was incredible and a lot more fun than conventional firearms. Thank you for all the great content!
It's really lovely to see a channel like this that's not American! Shooting sports are still a thing in Europe and rightly so! Showing those upstart colonies a thing or two!
@wood1155 yes sorry. The upstart colony thing was an attempt at humour. But the point still stands. As long as your enjoying the sport and competing with others on an equal footing the black powder or single shot is not an issue. If it is! Then it's just a dick swinging exercise in who can afford the biggest magazine and the most ammunition to throw down range.
Beautiful walnut. I love the Winchester rifles. Always have.
I have the sporting classic and love it! Shoots very good, also quite fun with black powder. ;-) Great work by Pedersoli, I could stare at the beautiful case hardening forever. :D
Both look like great guns!
👍👍👍 Great video as usual. I love the levers, Winchester, Marlin, Savage, and Browning! I have put more pounds of meat in the freezer with the .45/70 than any other cartridge, long may it live.
A very pleasant presentation as usual. Pretty good accuracy using open sights. I believe that you can save your fingers a bit if you only partially load the first cartridges and use the following one to push the front one through the loading gate. That way you only need to push the last cartridge fully through the loading gate. You don't need pinched or cut fingers if you are hunting in freezing weather! I love the top loading feature of this rifle. Thanks.
I really like the sound design of that lever action.
Ballistic capped flat nose bullets? Thats one ingenious idea I never would have thought of.
excellent grouping. very awesome indeed. hats off to the awesome people who work for Mr Pedersoli !
The Browning BLR is the Apex of Lever actions..And they are beautifully built depending on grade.. All shoot very accurate...
I like the fact Pedersoli makes these guns without the silly tang safety and rebounding hammer.
I am getting a boarbuster in 45-70 so pumped
Nice shooting Balasz. I wish they would offer the 1886 in the SRC version like Browning did some years back. Also, to offer it in 50-100-450 caliber. Grizzly Cartridge makes some expensive but very impressive ammunition for it.
Stopping power.
Excellent video! I prefer the classic look though the modern version probably has it's uses. The 1886 has a lever safety, the lever must be brought up to the bottom of the stock before the trigger can be pulled. The best safety is the one between the ears.
"The best safety is the one between the ears."
ABSOLUTELY TRUE..! ;)
excellent shooting , beautiful rifle.
How is the recoil of the 45-70 with the crescent butt plate? Forty five years ago I bought a H&R Officer's model trapdoor rifle in 45-70. The crescent buttplate made it painful to shoot. I had to add a slip on recoil pad.
I had an H & R Cavalry trap door, short and light with a steel buttplate. . That was a painful shooter.
Nice group at 50m! Well done champ!!
I love Lever Action Rifles.I always have.Round barrels are ok..however I Prefer the Octagon Barrel.
trey orr sir I just wondering if you have any idea about these lever action rifles or they better then the the ones in Japan Miroku 1886 their not as fancy as Perdersoli
Because I think about buying one thanks
Agreed on the octagon barrel being much nicer by a lever gun in 45-70 has always been abit of pet dream of mine :)
@@eugenejohnson8635 They are better in my opinion.Mr Pedersoli is a great gun maker. My Dad had 2.I inherited them.I already had one prior.
That's a beautiful rifle! Love shooting my 45-70 guide gun.
Purdy. The 45-70 has taken down a lot more game and two legged game than a lot of other modern rounds out there. Personally I couldn't shoot it due to recoil and fucked up shoulder yet would love to have one in a Sharps just for the hell of it.
If I had to live with just one gun, that little lever one would suit me just fine in any situation.
Great shooting. I know those crescent butt plates can be rough when shooting those big bores hunched over on a bench. That second rifle had to be easier on the shoulder.
I could see the apeal of this for people wanting a practical firearm in countries or US states with restrictive laws on semi auto rifles. A lever action is basically the next fastest thing to shoot but it generally has meant having to deal with obsolescent designs
likely made for customers in New York, California, Canada etc. also some states only allow hunting with straight walled cartridges.
That is 30-30 work, or 357. 45-70 is huge and slow to run compared to the carbines.
That CCH is gorgeous.
Interesting looking lever action.
Do their rifles have coil or leaf type mainspring ? I have a Chiappa Mod.1886 it has leaf type spring like the originals.
While I like the design of the Modernized version it seems that it wasn't as smooth as the 45 70 or as accurate
That's with one type of ammo tho, the .45-70 liked that Hornady load, the .444 not as much.
@@DickTickles or a new stiff action or it was packed with a heavy grease or not enough
I picked up a Ruger MK3 heavy barrel from a charity shoot event it would jam with Federal bulk pack ammo that gun and ammo was removed from the event after the event I took that gun and that ammo to the range and burned through the ammo about halfway through the brick it started running flawlessly it is now the most accurate pistol I own
With a lil hold over and wind dope it will hit a 12 Oz soda can at 100 yards
I was able to have a part in the design of that Boarbuster Mark II and I have the first one that came to the U.S. ... I also was fortunate to kill the first elk ever taken with that rifle. .... My other favorite rifle it the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Rifle and it is the finest rifle I have ever owned. .... Wonderful video, Sir. I hope to meet you someday.
@johngallagher3732 Well, I have videos on my channel that demonstrate that they are.
@johngallagher3732 Well, I can understand that skepticism. I can assure that I have no financial investment or involvement whatsoever with Pedersoli.
I also am not currently under any contract whatsoever with Cimarron, although, in the past I was involved with them, but no shares or anything.
I am being genuine when I say and demonstrate that my 1886 rifles function flawlessly and smooth. Not that you have to believe me, but I want to be upfront that I am expressing my honest experience with those rifles.
beautiful rifle, now I dare you to make one in the 50-110 cartridge
Hell yeah, but it seems everyone has to have a 45-70.
I love the Mark 2 modernized rifle. I've always liked lever guns that were modernized and "tactical." :) They are very fast as far as manual actions go.
Nice, classical, informative and entertain. Thaks man!
It's good, it's good. It's either going to be just right on top or just right on the bottom. It can be difficult to get it right on target or very bright on target. It takes a lot of training and one needs to make a scale for himself, precisely plotted, and for this purpose, it takes a lot of shooting attempts to accurately plot the scale for aiming distance
2"+ drop from 50 to 100m seems like a lot so 150m would be spot on 200m 3"drop? That short 444 marlin seems to hang up when levering new rounds as well.
Ladies and gentleman, I don’t always shoot American lever actions, but when I do it will be a Winchester model 1866 in 45-70. Now excuse me while I entertain the ladies.
Lol! nice.
I always look forward to your videos! I have been in love with the 45-70 for over 30 years. I live in Washington PA in the United States & have taken over 20 whitetail deer with a T/C Contender & a 2 power scope. Also in 45-70. To think that this cartridge was first developed to kill American Indians from a single shot rifle.
Love to own one of these beauties. This rifle is made right.
Beautiful rifle. I wish the rifle was offered in 50-110 WCF.
Beautiful Rifles....Nice shooting even if it is on a rest.....Thanks for the upload..! Kentucky USA over and out...!
I would be willing to bet that the 45-70 classic would be even more accurate with a tang rear sight and some nice handloads. I have a 30-30 94' hat I placed a vernier tang sight on and I can more often than not, drop 10 rounds into a pie plate bulls at 500 yards with. Using the factory buckhorn sights, I am hard pressed to do that at 200 yards.
why weren't lever action rifles adopted by the armies?
My opinion, the 444 needs to get the barrel smoothed a bit, shoot it some more and retest. Enjoy!
The sound seems off towards the end
yes very good
Great guns 👍
I like the original load of a 500 grain and then the 405 the calvary load of course a six hundred grain at over 1300 feet per second sounds nice moreso the 4590 in the 1886
love your show... but open sight Rossi 92 44 magnum with Winchester ammo 240 gr has better group at 100 yards
When i saw the modernized lever action. I thought that, maybe Karl from InRange would be interested in it for their lever action project.
I had the chance to see this rifle in the flesh, and it was very well finished and nice and compact i would have bought it in a hart beat but i already had a BHA 500 magnum on order.
A lever action gun like that don’t need a safety on it
@Blixem all safeties are an option. if you don't like it, don't use it just stick with hammer down, halfcock.
Safety on all guns is because of lawyer bull 💩
inside flat springs like the original or coil springs like the M71?
The main spring is coil spring.
Please upload your gun collection video
How much is that rifle
Looked like the 444 had a lot less recoil...
really nice weapon is t it ?
The traditional version was by far the best of these two, there seems very little point in the blinged up version being made as it not only looks awful, but does not perform or function as well as the traditional rifle, which was an all together smoother action, maybe the ammo was loaded to hot for the bling version ?
I think there is no difference in the accuracy of the bores. The only difference is the longer sight radius of the Classic version. Both were factory ammo.
I am sure that with your skills you would have got the best that rifle was capable of, it is of course in a different chambering so that may be where the difference is, but the results from the traditional rifle would be my choice every time. Chris B.
when your aiming is better than the machining of the gun
Beautiness...
1886 Winchester is a very good rifle. I like the two I have..
It’s not most American game it’s all 45 70 can take any game in the states at a reasonable range
Do they make them in a 50-110 WCF
Their website seems to show only 45/70s.
Can they put a PMG octagon barrel on this level action rifle 26”
Let me know if y’all can do that
I wonder where this guy learned to shoot...
pantslizard I don’t know but he shoots quite well with a wide variety of firearms!
The purpose of this cartridge is to get one shot 1 kill.
The buckhorn sight is half of a peep sight so position the front sight to the to the middle half way up not the bottom of the of the rear sight..! use link---> www.pyramydair.com/blog/2015/11/buckhorn-sights-and-kentucky-windage/
To much money i'll keep my old JM 95 Marlin with the lapped micro grove barrel. The second group is not excellent at all in my expert opinion since i can get far better accuracy with .460 diameter hard cast bullets out of my 95 with an Excess ghost ring sight. If anyone thinks micro grove barrels can't shoot cast your wrong they can with extreme accuracy the trick is if the mold drops under-size bullets lap it out to .460 -.462 and you'll put most of them into an inch at 100 yards.Do a little movie with a Marlin if you can an old one with plain base or gas check bullets.Would be interesting.
What is his accent?
Are they coming on the market and so how much USA price the only thing about I don’t like is no octagon barrel can you get it in a octagon barrel
In my opinion it's not a real lever action rifle if it's not in the cowboy traditional style.
Awesome guns ! Want to see both this in my collections. but in Russia we haven't .45-70 ammo ...
Id love to have one but id be too afraid to mess it up in the woods. Its too pretty
If it gets beat up it gives it character. :) You are right they are beautiful riffles.
@@oper12m the second one i would use as a paddle for my canoe if need be. But the first one is a show piece.
@@9716-i7f That would be an awesome canoe paddle, handy when the grizzly come snooping by. :)
Buy one second hand so you don't have to worry over the marks.
@@tsufordman where i live, it is so humid outside that in one day of hunting you will have rust a blued gun before the sun goes down.
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👶
Why am I suddenly hungry for waffles!?
An adjustable comb on a lever action... what a silly feature
Jealous!
peresoli is not so great. uberti is much more better. I will sell mine and get a uberti a real copy and hard to tell the original of uberti.
uberti.
