Hello everyone, thanks for watching my video. Does anyone else feel like engraving letters takes an incredible amount of time due to the detail? Let me know in the comments!
Max you are so incredibly talented!!! Truly awesome work!!! I remember you drawing in High School you have come such a long way! Insane progression my dude!!
How much is it worth to you? You’re spending time away from your family while you’re working, so time is a precious thing. Come up with an hourly rate and stick to it for a while. Depending on the amount of people that give you business you can decide to raise or lower that rate. More people coming your way then you have to charge more, less then you have to consider lowering your rate. It’s all trial and error!
I noticed you use a smaller tool. I have a Dremel and with my arthritis I have not been able to engrave anymore because it’s too heavy. What are you using?
Hey Kerry! Yes I hate the way the Dremel vibrates and it’s sometimes too loud for my liking. The tool that you mentioned is called a Foredom Micromotor K1060, it’s meant for working with jewelry but I use it for detail work and outlines. I still use my Dremel for bulk of the work but this other tool gives me a break from it. This tool is not cheap by any means but it does what I need it to do.
Thank you Gergana! I’m usually good at mentioning what size bur I use in my videos, I guess not in this one….oops 😂. But gauging at what I’m using I’m thinking 017 or 021. I use these two sizes pretty much every time I engrave now, one is for outline and the other is for fill or larger areas. As far as shipping to Europe, I just looked through their distributor list and indeed I do not see anything in Europe. I personally bought my stuff on eBay, maybe you can search there and hopefully find something. Busch is another company that makes similar burs, so maybe they sell those in Europe. Best of luck!
I used a little diamond ball and a carbide ball like the one you were using I think that’s what they’re called? I just googled to try to find out lol! Do you have to go horizontally when shading?
That’s what I usually do to make it look uniform although you can do whatever looks good to you. I’ve seen some people do shading vertically as well but I think I like to go with the curvature of the bottle that’s why I go horizontally.
I’m having a problem getting the design to transfer onto the cup after tracing. Is there a specific carbon paper you use or am I doing something wrong? Any tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Hey Fussy, I got my carbon paper on Amazon a few years back. It’s regular black carbon paper, not sure about the name since I threw away the packaging. The only tips I could give you on that is are you using the right side to transfer your design? Make sure that the shiny side is facing the cup. Also make sure that you apply moderate pressure when you’re tracing your design, otherwise it won’t transfer over. You can practice using carbon paper on something flat to get a feel of it.
Hey Anand, very interesting idea! Not sure if this was ever done with a rotary tool before, mostly traditional engraving cutter. I’ll have to look in to it.

Thank you brother! 🤙🏻
Did you stick with just the one tip four this cup, or did you switch out to anything else?
Hey Roger, I believe I used 011 for outlines and 017 for fill. Both are Fox Germany Tungsten Carbide burrs.
Do you have any tips for pricing your work? I would think 4 hours of work would be pretty expensive. It is beautiful! TIA

Impressive skills, thanks. Unfortunately, Fox Germany does not ship to Europe... PLS, what is the size of the bur you used at the beginning?

@@TriadoCustomEngraving thank you, most helpful, take care
this is amazing! how long did it take for you to this level? Thank you for sharing your talent
Thank you very much Crystal! I’ve been doing this since 2019. I’ve been an artist all my life, on and off haha. I try to stay busy 😃
How can I make it look smooth all the way across the letters? It looks all scratchy…😅
Haha..what bur did you use? I used to use rubber bits to buff out some areas but it makes it really shiny.

What type of carbon paper are you using-is it a special kind?
Hello Christie, I use regular carbon paper. I got mine on Amazon. You can also get some at any arts and crafts store.
