This is a great point of view. I personally never heard a Cl1b in person so getting an Wa1b will definitely be a great addition to my studio at a fraction of the cost.
i like either my ams neve pre or SSL VHD....its according to the mic choice and tone of the vocalist...then an optical compressor....cheap or expensive...its the behaviour that makes them great on vox when you set them right....I love my LA-4 ive been using for years...that into an analog de-esser...we have the dbx 500 series one...then i use a digital compressor....fairchild 660....on the channel inside of UAD's console...
The Warm bottoms out on the low mids on every demo video. When mine showed up I tried to love it and hated it . I ended up picking up the heritage, audio Tubesessor…. The 1176 and the CL1b clones from warm both fall apart when you compress more than five db. There’s a reason the good gear cost real money
@@byus6928 yea it’s on my list, as soon as I finish this build in the studio…it’s on my radar…thanks for validating my feelings though…and costing me $3k more 🤣 thanks a lot!
@@VolcanoBeats haha my bad bro! I think it’s worth it though. This all I spend my money on. I had The pre before the tone beast, wa76, wa2a, the pultech clone. Not trying to knock them just saying. I got to a point where I just wanted them extra %. Great video though bro. Keep it up!
When you say full size neve are you talking about classic module?

Just got this unit for my arsenal, also picked up the WA 73, WA 8000 WA 87R2, and other stuff for the studio. It’s a hell of a equipment.
Good video bro! I’m definitely getting that Wa1b cause I do love the Cl1b but definitely can’t afford it
what’s some of the vocal chains you recommend for hip hop and r&b

I dont see why everyone is downing the WaLb...if you cant get this unit to sound good the problem is NOT the gears
Because, substitution is just that...
Exactly
Get it modded by revive audio and I promise you there will be no regrets

I completely agree, copies are cheaper: you get what you pay for.
