  • I ask my friend Laura all kinds of questions about the 2020 Kawasaki Versys 650. She gives her completely honest review and opinion about the bike. We talk about normal street riding and highways, a little bit about offroad and going 2up (more on that in a future review) and finally long distance.

    I think that's the best colour option for this bike..this khaki green is beautiful.
    Maybe I'll buy the exact same bike after lockdown...more than enough power for legal street riding ( I know the 650 twin engine really well), great comfort and it looks great.
    And: no unnecessary electronic features - just good old motorcycling :)
    I prefer this bike over many, many more expensive bikes!

    Best thing I did for my 650 (for me) was putting taller gearing with a 43 tooth rear sprocket (or a 16 front is about the same). It smoothed out the 1st and 2nd gear usage and made highway riding more relaxed. Good value bike with a huge following around the world.

    Bought a new 2017 exactly 2 years ago and have ridden it more than 30,000 miles. Great bike. If you do big miles change the chain and sprockets with more frequency than I did. Learned the hard way when my chain broke and ate the engine case.

    Love that color! We don’t have that in the states :( just some lame red and black camo crap for the new models.

    I enjoyed the review. Adventure touring, and going off road is my interest. You give excellent details and nothing was boring. My motorcycle is a 2020 Kawasaki versus x300. Upgrading it is the best part. I love her Kawasaki. It was surprising to find out that it had 17” tires. Beautiful bike. Technique is control. Awesome. Thanks.

    You Should get the Motowerk lowering kit reduce 1.5 inches. The side stand cutting is no problem. Cut 1.5 inches put in insert . The lowering block you put a scissor jack on rear tire & under the rear seat/ fender area. Easy to do you will need right size sockets with 6-8 inch extension / wrench’s & I had to use a breaker bar for one of the bolts. The height now is 31.6 inches compared to the 33.1 . Now I can completely flat foot the bike. You can lower the front forks,I only lower front 1/2 inch .

    I have a 2020 Versys 650, its a good bike, A bit low on power on motorways but pulls well with a full load 2up, I wouldn't take it off road but dirt tracks are ok, The seat is uncomfortable, I road 12 hours on it and i was the most uncomfortable bike I have ever ridden, there is a seat mod you can find on the Facebook Versys forum that I’m told works better than the very expensive seat change, I came to the Versys from bikes like the ZZR600 and big sports bikes ZX12R , GPZ100RX, Its not got the power of the ZX6R I have but I’m not complaining, it is a Good bike sadly not a great bike, A good second hand ZZR600 would beet this bike all day for truing. It will run well at 80mph all day and will give 230-240 miles per tank. Don't go for it if you wont off road riding, it is to heavy. It handles and breaks superbly, .. I have 35+ years riding, I would recommend it to new riders, but more expiranced may find the Versys 1000 a better bike, I love the panniers .. 9/10 over all

    Seems like a nice sport-tourer. I wish all the Versys models had the cornering lights of the Versys 1000 to help see into corners at night (very big problem I have with my CBR).

    Shoodiben Engineering FL, US has an ECU flash that fixes all the twitchy throttle stuff. Best money ever spent on a motorcycle. Makes it butter smooth everywhere. As it should be...or should have been as it were.

    Do the panniers lock with a key onto the bike?
    I find bikes always feel so heavy when the high rear luggage box (commonly referred to as the beer box) is on the bike. This is due to it being high from the ground.

    I have a 2018 versys 650 (non grand touring) I like it...but: It's got a very high center of gravity, made worse by 40lbs of gas up high. Then the seat is high. All this can make the bike difficult to handle at slow speeds. The bike wants to tip over...fast. None of this matters over 15mph. Very smooth at highway speeds. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I would consider a Honda CB500X.

    • @thebrightrider

      I have a 2012 Versys and find it is really easy to handle during slow maneuvers, it’s all in the counter balancing and clutch control or just stand up which makes it easier. I am also 4’11” and had the bike lowered and stock seat shaved down. My previous bike was a cruiser so this bike is much easier to ride. It’s awesome to see another female rider offer her review on the bike as the majority of people out there doing these videos are guys

    hi there ! i am between the full tecnology BMW gs750 2021 (12.000 $ full options) and versys grand tourer 650 2021 (10.000$)...the only thing that could make the difference would be my feelings when i sit on both motorcycles since both are great motorcycles....today i tried the versys and i am 1.69 cm but i use reviit boots so another 2cm higher...so i am between bmw which sits between 77mm and 84mm...and the standard versys 84 mm....i think i am able to control both motorcycles...the thing is that on the versys i felt that is more comfortable and a bit smaller bike which fits me better...on the other hand the Gs 750 has more tecnology than i will ever need but felt soo big bike and a bit uncomfortable ...i am so confused...if the versys only had a TFT display i would go for it without any doubt. maybe 2022 will be my year when kawasaki choose to upgrade.

    • @thebrightrider
      @thebrightrider  3 роки тому

      Hard choice.. I’m going to make it even harder: If you like technology, the V-strom 1050 just had a technology upgrade, be sure to check that out. This upgrade will probably be aplied to the 650 soon aswell :) Between the versys and the gs Offroad is a big decider! The gs will perform much much better offroad!

    • @sergiuulici3908
      @sergiuulici3908 3 роки тому

      @@thebrightrider thank you for quick response. Vstrom 1050 is nice...but is 15.000€ in my country and even taller tan versys at 85.5mm so...out of choice
      I like the look og versys and feels so comfortable and no! I dont go offroad only highways and commuting . I think i am gonna wait until november since Kawasaki always present new models in the end of the year...and maybe finally. Versys Will have more tecnology and a tft which i would love to have on my long term bike. If they fix that ...i go With versys without a doubt. So the gs750 you think is more for offroad? In that case i stay with Kawasaki.
