After years of mx and even a bit of gncc style events, at 40 I finally took the plunge into adv and motocamping. Much love from the mountains of western NC
On a side note: manufacturers, please do away with the 43mm forks that come on 90% of adv bikes including the t7,Africa Twin, 800DE, 900rally pro ect ect. These bikes weigh nearly 500pounds, and the fork tubes flex when ridden hard. Ducati uses 46mm and the 790-1290 uses 48mm fork tubes. Back in the day, 43mm forks were fine, but now, more and more moto guys, woods guys and desert guys are getting into adv, and the fork flex is gnarly and makes the fork harsh bc it is binding in the forst 30% of the stroke.
Hey, I converted my T7 to a single front brake, 3.2kg less in the front. def feel it! In total I removed 18kg on the bike, tractive suspension and it transformed the bike to much better!! Great project of yours !
Nice build! I also did a full exhaust and two Wheel Dinoworks reflash Went up one tooth in the rear. Those three are the best mods I have done to the bike I have popped the front up at 32mph and road it out to 90 mph!! (Shifting gears of course) I did a drag race against an 890R (I took off in second gear, these bikes are geared low) my front tire stayed 3 feet in front of his front tire until 74 mph and then he walked away from me. That is impressive considering he has 40% more HP. 32,000 miles on it now and still love it. I’ve done the Transamerica Trail on it and some BDR‘s
A few years back, we did a off road tour with a Erzberg driver as a guide in croatia. We had a 701, a 450 and a TX125 along. Let me tell you, it was basically hard-enduro riding the three days and the TX125 performed best, due to its weight. And it was most fun of them all. Only downturn: the small fuel tank! We had to take spare fuel in Cole bottles along for it… Next time the 701 will not go along. They have 300ˋs fro rent, still better than a heavy adv bike Sure, next time, well defined with mousse equipped as we had several flats …
Great review of all the improvements you’ve done. T7 is such a fantastic base bike that it can only be improved with sensible mods like this. Still think it’s the best sounding ADV bar none and with that full system it sounds epic!
Great video, being a former moto racer I appreciate your approach to this build. I haven't made a final decision however the T7 is on my list. It was like you read my mind.
Ditch the crash bars, add the Camel adv rear brake pedal, and go to a 2.5" rear wheel so you can run a bead lock. I still run a dot tire (motoz tractionator enduro i/t in a 130/90/18 because the knobbies are taller than the 140). I like the look and benefits of the stock low fender, I've done almost hardenduro type riding and have never had an issue with clearance. Nice build, and glad to see others using the T7 as an enduro bike.
Cool! Excellent upgrades, and great review. Those upgrades/mods are just what is needed for riding that bike in Australia and going off road. Make me think....
Great stuff! Such a transformation, I didn't even know what it was from the thumbnail LOL. For the record, Your exhaust is pronounced Leo VINchae. It's Italian. Also, Imma gonna look into that race tech suspension. You definitely have one of the best looking T7's I've seen. Cheers!
my issue with all adventure bikes vs real dirt bikes is the weight. If you’ve ever had to pick up a fully-farkled bike in the mud, you’ll miss the trail bike. They also hurt a lot more sitting on your foot, so definitely get some boots with ankle pro, like the Tech 7 Enduros, which also work great for road work.
@@georgesinclair1393 Me too. I don’t Need 8 gallons of gas. I wish someone would a make A 2-3 cylinder 3.5 4 gallon tank 900-1300 cc dirt bike Beast. Completely simple, something like the 701 or 690 with a 890 or 1290 engine. It can be done Easily. They choose not to
Those crash bars are debatable, just seems like overkill, and extra weight seems odd, amidst the discussions of losing weight....too wide and I certainly wouldnt't want those bars landing on me...they protrude....

Not great for a amateur rider, too heavy, look for something around 250 lbs if you ride alone, otherwise you better have a few buddies to help you pick it up, because you will drop it
That's cute. The first thing to do in order to make that bike better offroad is to remove the shock and forks and throw them in the bin. Utter trash. I'm not joking. Nothing you did made the bike better offroad without a suspension. A stock YZ comes with better suspension. Fit Ohlins. Btw, it's easier to just buy a KTM 950 Super Enduro, if you can find one. 100k+ mile engine. Good luck.
These huge offroad bikes don't make ANY sense at all. Weight is your enemy offroad, and any seasoned rider knows it. I've been riding offroad bikes for 35 years. Older guys, like myself, should be downsizing, not upsizing. If you drop one of these beasts on yourself on a solo ride in the boonies, you are screwed. I have been pinned under a bike that weighed 125 lbs less than this but fortunately I wasn't alone. Besides, these massive adv. bikes are no fun at all in comparison the 500 cc class dual sports on any kind of trail. Newbs and posers buy these things and then go out and get hurt because the bikes ar MORE difficult to ride than smaller bikes.
@@motoboggle7525 And yet, better mass centerization, more horsepower, more fuel, narrower, cruse control and better electronics suite... Just better...
No its not…….maybe as a touring bike, there is not a bike out there, you can modifie! And make it your own one of kind bike! Thats Whats make T7 so special. And costs 🤑

@@barebonesmc yep kept the bash plate and the crash bars, both could be around 7kg less tho… but a crash would be expensive
@@TheRide_Adv the one downfall of the engine is it wasn’t designed for an off road bike so has a tender underbelly lol

Hi could you tell us what kind of front fender did you have?
Braaaaaaapppppp
Gents, can you put together a list of parts/vendors on this build?
Just added to the description!
@@whiskeythrottlemedia which actual fender did you use upfront. Is that a YZ fender?
Can you let me know which front fender you chose? I am having a tough time finding one that looks right. Yours looks right!!
Camel ADV high fender kit
The Camel ADV kit does not come with a fender. I went with 06-09 YZ fender from Acerbis
If you ride slower technical stuff definitely suggest a 1 finger clutch kit!
Wrong! You can buy the stock handlebar in black. The Rally T7 has a black one.😉
And even if you couldn't... why wouldn't you just paint it rather than buy a whole new set?
The 690 or Husky 701 or the Gas Gas 700 are the best adv. bike. Just put a 48 rear sprocket and a Rade Garage Aux fuel tank.
Those ar not adv bikes
