- A beluga whale has been filmed playing ‘fetch’ with with an official 2019 Rugby World Cup ball near the Arctic Pole. A group of South African rugby fans can be seen throwing the ball out into the ocean. The whale chases the ball, before returning it to the men on the boat.

It’s a Russian dolphin no wild animal would know how to fetch
He is playing fetch because he was trained to do so and expects food. This is not natural behaviour for wild animals. It's pretty sad actually, he should be in a pod with other whales

@@08shayna Its in Norway (most likely) and sure we hunt whales but if that is "Hvaldimir" then he have sanctuary status in Norway besides we do not hunt that kind of whales, only Minkwhale... maybe thats why they keep coming to our shores... like that Orca who also died here (not our fault) and now Hvaldimir who escaped Russia ...
So whales do not get shot in Norway unless its part of the Minkwhale sort and during the huntingtime ...
Whales are however very tasty meat I can assure you, and healthy... (well maybe not for the whale I assume).

They release belugas that have been trained to interact with us. This one must have been previously taught to fetch and retrieve. Great to know it's thriving in it's natural habitat and still has a special bond with us.
If that's true that explains alot. Also of that's true I wonder if it's hungry? They usually get treats or food when performing tricks properly.

It's not necessarily the case though, we don't give wild animals enough credit.
