The next stop on our 2023 Western tour was the world-famous Donner Pass. Known most famously for being the site where the Donner Party met its demise in the 1840s, the mountain grades of the pass still play host to heavy Union Pacific rail action. Join us as we explore this beautiful part of Northern California while taking in some incredible mountain, high-horsepower freight and passenger railroading. Enjoy!

It denotes the paint scheme of the UP units which have the “flag” painted on the side of the locomotive
