- First, I want to thank @alex42744 for coming along on this trip with me and letting me use his video recordings. All of his video recordings are properly watermarked. This was by far my favorite railfanning trip and I cannot wait to chase her again! I hope you enjoy my experience of chasing her over Donner Pass. If you chased her too, let me know in the comments! I want to hear about your experience! I got to hang out and talk to a lot of amazing people along the way. This trip was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I want to thank the Union Pacific and their steam crew for putting on an amazing show!

its about time the 4014 figured out how to smoke. it only took 3 years.
I was in Colfax wating for big boy to stop by shamed he was delayed he was supposed to stop for 15 mins there was a lot of pepole and by the time he got there lots of pepole left but there was still a good amount and he rushed down Colfax loud and proud a true sight and we saw that same westbound freight train earlier in Colfax around 10:46 lots of pepole used it as reference for long shots before big boy came buy still a fun day

I know there are some bold trespassers out there, but trespassing into a snow shed is EXTREMELY bold, even by the wildest of standards.
@@justahillbilly7777 thanks for the comment, CHP and UP Police were everywhere. Every shot I took except the last 2 they were present. They were there to ensure that people were safely railfanning and telling people to go to a different spot when they felt wasn’t safe. If they didn’t want us in there, they would have kindly told us to leave and we would have been okay with that.
Keep in mind i was plenty enough room away from the mainline. I conducted myself in a safely manner.🙂 but yes for the people out there that trespass while being unsafe I highly suggest they rethink their actions.
@@OvernightScaleModels have you considered that you were all violating common sense and that they too overwhelmed to deal with everyone at the same time
@@WyanoPenna You’re right, they were probably too busy talking to us and other people about how a wonderful event this was. They did a fabulous job ensuring everybody was safe and had a great time, if you haven’t railfanned big boy yourself I highly recommend it!

Surprising CARB allows this to run in California. Don't let Newsom see this video, or he will make UP turn the 4014 into a Tier 5 vehicle or full battery power. 🤣🤣
Big Boy is pre smog. Carb has no authority.
@@GregoryVeizades But the rebuild and conversion to oil burning was recent. I think CARB is not dealing with it *for now* since Big Boy is just one off and not stored in California. Enjoy steam while you can in California.
