It does have that vibe though so I would guess they were improv-ing as their characters in the writers room during pre-production and this came up

I love the fact he looks at the assistant confused, the assistant looks back, he then says "he's absolutely right" and the assistant gives a baffled look like 'wtf? ' and he does the same back like; whatever just go with it I guess
I imagine a little girl going up to you like, "Look what I made, brother! It took me a whole three days!" And then you just stare at it, inspect it with the most intense look in your eye. Then you look her straight in the eye and say, "What is this!" - slam - "A house for ants?
