The damage of the Highland Sword has been nerfed with todays patch. A light overhead attack for example does not deal 85 damage anymore although I said that in the video (70 dmg now). BUT all the tips still apply (although the bonus tip doesn't work as well anymore)! Luckily the damage of HEAVY overhead attacks was not nerfed so you can still onehit archers :)
It still seems to be the best weapon in the game, I think. And with Chiv2 reaching end of life, I get the impression that the Highland Sword is put in the game to encourage people to consider the archer's role in a team setting when they would otherwise only use melee weapons exclusively. Yes, I am aware that heavy overheads can one-shot archers, though if another player is already fighting the highland sword user, there's a high chance he'll lose without an archer intervening.
Oh my god this video is so good. I’d used the highland sword before, but I found it way too slow to be of any use. After watching this video though, I’ve been having the most fun I’ve ever had with Chivalry 2. Thank you so much bro
Well, looks like I have to give this baby another chance - great sword felt much better than this at first but you have convinced me. Great video man. I wish you a lot to success on UA-cam :)
Thanks a lot! At first I also prefered the great sword but after i got used to the highland sword it really felt better to use and became one of my main weapons!
@@xylar9630 just played a couple of matches and I have to say - it feels great and can really mess up timing of opponents. Feels also great to have a 3x kill with one slash while getting behind a teamfight
"since you can only block incoming attacks in front of you..." I've had enemies block with their backs...dont' know how...but I've hit players point blank in the back...and they've successfully blocked...with their backs lol
The timing is what makes this sword cheesy as fuck. It's stupid slow, so people against you end up blocking or countering too fast. It's just stupid. Highland sword is for people that can't make other weapons work.
Here’s how to highland sword: Wait for enemy to attack Counter Horizontal swing (drag and accel if multiple enemies) Repeat Remember: Feinting is for cowards
That's a really good idea! I have not thought about that yet, so thank you a lot! How exactly do you imagine map guides to be? Should i explain the most important things about the different stages/phases of the maps for offense and defense? Or what exactly should I show in a map guide?
I feel like the special should be changed up in some way. It's so pathetically underwhelming considering the potential power of the rest of the highland sword's moves. TB can obviously make interesting specials, the rapier is an excellent example of that. I don't think the highland sword needs more power, but a more utility focussed Q like the rapier is a good idea imo
i can never swing this damned weapon. always getting hit first by enemy or interrupted by team. out of all the weapons, i have a difficult time with this one
You should think of the highland sword as a floating hitbox that's there for a second for you to manipulate how fast or slow you want your swings. Because it's in the air for a long time, you have a split second to decide what to do with it before it lands. In other words, it might be slow but it gives you freedom to choose how fast it's momentum is when you can turn your camera to control when it hits.
Great guide I subbed for this one and I never messed with the highlands sword enough to know that it's damage was so broken more of an ax or Hatchet guy myself to each their own I guess looking forward to Future content
If anyone sees this, a helpful tip is to just use great sword instead, because it’s much lighter than highlander sword, and wile less damage, is pretty much the same weapon… basically more weight = much skill needed to win cos every other dude is hitting you first. You may be fine with the extra weight but personally I think it’s very hard to use.
this big ass sword is ass, im new to the game, and that is the only sword i like to see coming at me. i always counter and kill anyone holding that slow ass sword.

It got buffed back up again, not to its former glory but still pretty good. Its a great day for highland sword mains

Could you make a guide about footwork? I really enjoyed this one!
I feel like 3rd person is a must for the highland sword just because it’s so damn big😂
That's true 😁 but even with the 3rd person perspective you sometimes can't see the entire sword because it's just so absurdly huge 😂
guide: turn brain off, swing sword, profit
Highland sword in a nutshell ^
Tip it does +50 damage and attack speed when you shout Griffith while swinging

Same here, when using the highland sword correctly the game get so freaking fun. I slay so many ppl all the time, getting insane kill sprees.

a guide for a grossly OP weapon? why?
Exactly
Now its nerfed and everyone uses the Executioner’s axe and Messer.
