If you travel over the speed of light and arrive at that star from earth you are traveling ahead in time relative to the earth but back in time relative to the star as the light from Earths system would be produced before you left.

Knowledge of a european culture (from tropes and mythos to Shakespeare (come one, a capital world of Magnus is called Prospero, it's on the nose) helps predict the next plot twist GW will do, or at least allows us to identify mothballed plot lines. Maybe Lion will embark on a quest to revive the Emperor, who knows. What will be the Red Grail then?

The way I think about the Chaos Gods is how DC handles their gods. Khorne was birthed the moment the first creature to exist ever felt anger or the need to fight. Tzeentch was birthed the moment the first creature ever had thoughts. Nurgle was birthed the moment the first creature dies. And Slaanesh was birthed the moment the first creature ever felt desire. The more creatures that feel these emotions, the more powerful the Chaos Gods become. With that being said, there are uncountable numbers of potential Chaos Gods. if the universe went another way, there might be a different set of chaos gods. But these 4 are what we have now because of the actions of those in the galaxy.
Don't forget the C'tan are gods, born from the immaterium & are immortal. They came to the materium because the warp was too noisy & they wanted to suck on star farts, until the necrons got involved. The chaos gods can't simply enter the materium like the C'tan did. When all life dies & the chaos gods starve to death, the C'tan will still be chillin.
I like to think that with the Empereor interred on the Golden Throne, and the Lion waking to find out Guilliman is alive and trying to regroup the Imperium, that his sense of duty to save his fathers vision for humanity is what allows him to shape the warp and use it as a teleportation network without being corrupted or it going heywire. He was the one to be tempted by chaos for the longest, and he has stood stalwart in the face of their attacks.
Personal Headcanon: Vashtorr is actually Perturabo, and the Daemon Primarch Perturabo we see is one (or more) of his lieutenants that he modified to act as his stand-in. He was able to ascend to Chaos Godhood by using the Gene-seed he stole from the Imperial Fists to fix the flaws the Emperor intentionally coded into his DNA, as well as taking the plunge into the deeper parts of the Warp and highjacking the faith of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Dark Mechanicum, effectively becoming/replacing himself as their Machine God, since the Void Dragon, who they are unknowingly worshipping as their Machine God, can't process the power of faith/belief, as a God of the material plane.

Logically he'd become an undivided prince because no way he'd pick a side given his opinion on chaos in general...what if...what if the chaos gods making perty a prince WASNT voluntary? Like they said "good job here's deamonhood" and just pushed the power onto him and he refused it saying he won't be their pawn or something which caused his soul to split off and become vashtorr leaving his body as a weird pseudo blank? @Northraider123 My idea is similar, in that Perturabo becoming a Daemon Primarch wasn't voluntary. However, my idea was that he saw the writing on the walls and decided to peace out beforehand. Of course, Chaos won't just let him walk away, but Perturabo and the Iron Warriors already have a profound understanding of the Warp and how it works by this point, to the point where I'm willing to bet the only humans that might have a better understanding of the Warp are Magnus, Malcador, and the Emperor himself. So, through a bit of non-Chaos related Warp chicanery, Perturabo takes either one or more of his like-minded lieutenants, some of his genetic material, and a few sacrifices to turn them, physically into a pseudo-copy of himself, and used various technologies to copy his memories over to his clone. When Lorgar comes around during the end of the Iron Cage incident to turn Perturabo into a Daemon Primarch, he thinks he's succeeded when it was actually the clone all along. Of course, this doesn't get past the Ruinous Powers, who are all rightfully pissed that their errand boy escaped, but by then, Perturabo has used another Warp ritual to mask his presence in both the Warp and real space and skidaddled ,running experiments on both himself and Imperial Fists Gene-seed to try and figure out what dear old dad did to him, potentially to his other brothers, and how to undo it so he can reach his "full potential". The TL:DR is that the Emperor did, in fact, either predict the Horus Heresy, but it was way before anyone thought he did, or he was paranoid enough to believe that all of his Primarch sons would betray him at some point. Either way, he intentionally coded flaws into each Primarchs genes, and while these flaws weren't so serious that they would be cripplingly detrimental to their roles as Primarchs, they would be a big enough flaw that they could be exploited by other, Loyalist Primarchs to put down the Traitors with relatively minimal cost/effort. However, thanks to Chaos' intervention in the Primarchs' early years, shunting them through the Warp and across the Galaxy, some of these failsafes were partially or fully activated prematurely, as well as altered in such a way that they couldn't be limited or removed without careful research, trial, and error. These changes manifested both in the Primarchs, but only had a chance of manifesting to a lesser degree in their respective legions, examples including Angron's empathic abilities, the Blood Angel's Red Thirst, the Thousand Suns Flesh Change, and into Perturabo's case, his inability to process his negative emotions well. He himself is fully aware of his petulant nature, but is incapable of making any meaningful changes because it has both been hardwired into his very DNA and has been further tampered with by Chaos. What's more this trait would only get worse with the passage of time, which is why Perturabo assumes the Emperor sent him to fight the Hurrud all those years ago; to accelerate his aging up to a point that his more negative traits rendered him less effective during the Heresy he knew was coming. So, having theorized all of this, in true Perturabo fashion, he decides to get rid of what doesn't work and replace it with what does, and much as he's loathed to admit it, Rogal Dorn's emotionally stability and his ability to put up and shut up outstrip his by miles. So, after weeks to months of trial and error testing, research, and quintuple-checking his wards to hide from the Ruinous Powers, into the Bio-pod he goes, removing the flaws in his genetic makeup and replacing them with Dorn's cold stoicism and min-maxing mindset. After an unknown period of time, out comes a Perturabo, similar in some ways, changed in others, but with newer, greater ambitions than ever before. And so, he sets out to become master of his own fate. To become.... a God.

I was going the route of perturabo's soul went and became vashtorr while his body started to fail due to the lack of soul so he went and basically built himself a super dreadnought/mini mobile golden throne suit so he can survive JUST to annoy chaos. It's only in the original Jewish faith that the true name of god is only written not spoken. There's a really long explanation on how Hebrew texts work and tetragrammation, but in Hebrew it is spelled YHWH. So for substitutes they go with things Anonai ("Lord"). Christian denominations were the ones who chose first a Latin Latinized version "Jehovah" or an anglicized version "Yahweh". Not implying one is right or wrong, I just find it linguistically and spiritually fascinating.
I forgot about the theory about why the emperor is such a ahole… because emotions feed chaos, even Malchador noted that the emperor had was warm and friendly and even funny before he walked into the warp. Which would explain why a lot. Yes he loves his children and yes he loves humanity but love feeds Nurgle, yes he plots and plan grand schemes and strategies but it’s not for enjoyment because that feeds tzzench, yes he single handedly wages a galaxy war but it’s quick which is why he punished the slower legions like word bearers and knight lords because drawing out a war and making people suffer feeds khorn and slammed. So get the war over as soon as possible so we can hurry and starve chaos.
9:32 isn’t better to say that time inside the warp is not continuous or straight, but frayed and wonky. It makes sense that a being can be born in the future but can interact with the past in a place where it can randomly send you to the future
On the topic of Vashtorr: I am not 100% sure, but iirc, in the Fantasy World there existed the Soul Forge too, but Bel‘akor was the one in control of it who, like Vashtorr, created mechanized Demons in it. Or was it Hashutt, the God the Chaos Dwarves worship? But it would be ironically hilarious that Vashtorr is so damn close to becoming a Chaos God with his place called the Soul Forge and that’s the reason Bel‘akor assaulted him, dude was pissed he stole his stuff!

A vast majority of ancient writings describe the ocean as "green", Also prior to Isaac Newton (roughly speaking) a rainbow was classically depicted using 3 colors. After learning this I constantly look around myself wondering how much of my day I am interacting with things that do not have names, but are an integral part of my day.
He's definitely in that weird demi god area at the very least but the thing about it is that slaneesh was the result of literal MILLIONS of years worth of gradually increasing levels of Eldar debauchery. The emperor has only had 15k years at most of worship and while there's a LOT more humans then Eldar they're not as strong psychically speaking. While I agree emps is near certainly gonna become a chaos God the specifics are anyone's guess cause is 10k year of direct if weaker worship more effective then millions of years worship of stronger but indirect worship? Who knows
Millions of years of scattered acts of debauchery vs roughly 10-12000 years of concentrated worship in a singular god on a galactic scale. A god that prior to his internment on the golden throne was a being that embodied the idea of the indomitable human spirit, who in 3 centuries consolidated an entire galaxy. If he ever ascends to godhood, no collection of the chaos gods will ever hope to stand up to him.

Since Nurgle personally rocked up on Slaanesh and broke her out before the later option was chosen for her she decided the first option was marginally better. I wish they could have a happier relationship, similar to TTS, but this is where it stands in canon.

An episode on the Schola Progenium would be awesome to see. Edit: as a note, the map of the Chaos gods' realms as described by Isyander and the picture Koda added in is for Warhammer Fantasy. It even has the Horned Rat's lair in Nurgle's garden. Also, Koda's description of Slaanesh being a gorgeous woman in a large suburban house wearing an apron and nothing else is definitely better than whatever the Grey Knight saw in canon when he approached Slaanesh.
Fun fact, the warp is extremely easy to explain. The rules are actually incredibly consistent across all stories. It acts like a nebula. Emotions condense like matter and attracted to somilar emotions like gravity. The more mass it gathers, the more sentient it comes. At the same time, the warp tears in reality maps real world gravity wells in our actual galaxy. So where gravity is highest in our reality, is where the warp tears into reality in theirs. Thats why the eye of terror is the biggest hole, and there are various large seas along the tear line. Tears are effectively where our black holes cause gravity to literally dip into the warp The warp also acts like a sea of time. If a single moment of time were a single drop of water, its in the infinite ocean of the warp. So it swirls around with all of other time. Which is why you always exit the warp at a different time, and it appears as fast travel. You travel in the warp literally, but you ALWAYS time travel. Its normally consistent-ish, but youre always exiting a different timeline than when you entered. Sometimes you just exit much further into the future or past than normal. It also explains why gods can simply not exist at all... then when theyre born, they always existed for all time. Because theyre born into the ocean of time, so they always existed or never existed. Once it exists, it extends into the future and past at the same time. So slaanesh consumed all the elves in that moment, and then was able to see/interact with the past and future like the other gods. When it comes to cosmic horror, it really isnt. The reason you go insane from looking at it, is because youre interacting with raw emotion being forced into your brain. Imagine the mixed emotions of the gods being forced into your brain at the same time. Youre not insane, youre being hyper overdosed with hormones and emotions. Its the same way gods corrupt you. They force a small portion of their emotional mass into you so you generate more of that emotion to feed the demons.
First I'd like to point out that there's a quote (although I do not know if it's canon or not) where Tryazen ponders on the idea of humans being the source of the chaos gods calls it ridiculous and egotistical for them to assume their thoughts and actions birthed the chaos gods when there were basically gods bending the warp to their will during the war in heaven. Second, I'd like a free Kreig or the option for an EP about lobotomized corpses

With the whole khorne is honest, it's known that he's the god of a good fight. Because he's all about honour, good fight and honesty, could be the values of a great knight if you will. With that in mind, I like to think khorne was never a force of evil and instead became tainted by his followers twisting his stands of a good fight, to he cares not where the blood flows, just that it flows. Which is the same for all the chaos gods.

The way I think about the Chaos Gods is how DC handles their gods. Khorne was birthed the moment the first creature to exist ever felt anger or the need to fight. Tzeentch was birthed the moment the first creature ever had thoughts. Nurgle was birthed the moment the first creature dies. And Slaanesh was birthed the moment the first creature ever felt desire. The more creatures that feel these emotions, the more powerful the Chaos Gods become. With that being said, there are uncountable numbers of potential Chaos Gods. if the universe went another way, there might be a different set of chaos gods. But these 4 are what we have now because of the actions of those in the galaxy.

I like to think that with the Empereor interred on the Golden Throne, and the Lion waking to find out Guilliman is alive and trying to regroup the Imperium, that his sense of duty to save his fathers vision for humanity is what allows him to shape the warp and use it as a teleportation network without being corrupted or it going heywire. He was the one to be tempted by chaos for the longest, and he has stood stalwart in the face of their attacks.

Personal Headcanon:
Vashtorr is actually Perturabo, and the Daemon Primarch Perturabo we see is one (or more) of his lieutenants that he modified to act as his stand-in. He was able to ascend to Chaos Godhood by using the Gene-seed he stole from the Imperial Fists to fix the flaws the Emperor intentionally coded into his DNA, as well as taking the plunge into the deeper parts of the Warp and highjacking the faith of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Dark Mechanicum, effectively becoming/replacing himself as their Machine God, since the Void Dragon, who they are unknowingly worshipping as their Machine God, can't process the power of faith/belief, as a God of the material plane.
Oh now THAT is an interesting idea, I like it

Logically he'd become an undivided prince because no way he'd pick a side given his opinion on chaos in general...what if...what if the chaos gods making perty a prince WASNT voluntary? Like they said "good job here's deamonhood" and just pushed the power onto him and he refused it saying he won't be their pawn or something which caused his soul to split off and become vashtorr leaving his body as a weird pseudo blank? Like people don't like blanks cause they have no souls but party DOES have a soul its just...not with him

My idea is similar, in that Perturabo becoming a Daemon Primarch wasn't voluntary. However, my idea was that he saw the writing on the walls and decided to peace out beforehand. Of course, Chaos won't just let him walk away, but Perturabo and the Iron Warriors already have a profound understanding of the Warp and how it works by this point, to the point where I'm willing to bet the only humans that might have a better understanding of the Warp are Magnus, Malcador, and the Emperor himself. So, through a bit of non-Chaos related Warp chicanery, Perturabo takes either one or more of his like-minded lieutenants, some of his genetic material, and a few sacrifices to turn them, physically into a pseudo-copy of himself, and used various technologies to copy his memories over to his clone. When Lorgar comes around during the end of the Iron Cage incident to turn Perturabo into a Daemon Primarch, he thinks he's succeeded when it was actually the clone all along. Of course, this doesn't get past the Ruinous Powers, who are all rightfully pissed that their errand boy escaped, but by then, Perturabo has used another Warp ritual to mask his presence in both the Warp and real space and skidaddled ,running experiments on both himself and Imperial Fists Gene-seed to try and figure out what dear old dad did to him, potentially to his other brothers, and how to undo it so he can reach his "full potential".
The TL:DR is that the Emperor did, in fact, either predict the Horus Heresy, but it was way before anyone thought he did, or he was paranoid enough to believe that all of his Primarch sons would betray him at some point. Either way, he intentionally coded flaws into each Primarchs genes, and while these flaws weren't so serious that they would be cripplingly detrimental to their roles as Primarchs, they would be a big enough flaw that they could be exploited by other, Loyalist Primarchs to put down the Traitors with relatively minimal cost/effort. However, thanks to Chaos' intervention in the Primarchs' early years, shunting them through the Warp and across the Galaxy, some of these failsafes were partially or fully activated prematurely, as well as altered in such a way that they couldn't be limited or removed without careful research, trial, and error. These changes manifested both in the Primarchs, but only had a chance of manifesting to a lesser degree in their respective legions, examples including Angron's empathic abilities, the Blood Angel's Red Thirst, the Thousand Suns Flesh Change, and into Perturabo's case, his inability to process his negative emotions well. He himself is fully aware of his petulant nature, but is incapable of making any meaningful changes because it has both been hardwired into his very DNA and has been further tampered with by Chaos. What's more this trait would only get worse with the passage of time, which is why Perturabo assumes the Emperor sent him to fight the Hurrud all those years ago; to accelerate his aging up to a point that his more negative traits rendered him less effective during the Heresy he knew was coming.
So, having theorized all of this, in true Perturabo fashion, he decides to get rid of what doesn't work and replace it with what does, and much as he's loathed to admit it, Rogal Dorn's emotionally stability and his ability to put up and shut up outstrip his by miles. So, after weeks to months of trial and error testing, research, and quintuple-checking his wards to hide from the Ruinous Powers, into the Bio-pod he goes, removing the flaws in his genetic makeup and replacing them with Dorn's cold stoicism and min-maxing mindset. After an unknown period of time, out comes a Perturabo, similar in some ways, changed in others, but with newer, greater ambitions than ever before. And so, he sets out to become master of his own fate. To become.... a God.

I was going the route of perturabo's soul went and became vashtorr while his body started to fail due to the lack of soul so he went and basically built himself a super dreadnought/mini mobile golden throne suit so he can survive JUST to annoy chaos. I forgot about the theory about why the emperor is such a ahole… because emotions feed chaos, even Malchador noted that the emperor had was warm and friendly and even funny before he walked into the warp. Yes he loves his children and yes he loves humanity but love feeds Nurgle, yes he plots and plan grand schemes and strategies but it’s not for enjoyment because that feeds tzzench, yes he single handedly wages a galaxy war but it’s quick which is why he punished the slower legions like word bearers and knight lords because drawing out a war and making people suffer feeds khorn and slammed. So get the war over as soon as possible so we can hurry and starve chaos.

an example of something coming into being after being named, are colors. A vast majority of ancient writings describe the ocean as "green", Also prior to Isaac Newton (roughly speaking) a rainbow was classically depicted using 3 colors. After learning this I constantly look around myself wondering how much of my day I am interacting with things that do not have names, but are an integral part of my day.
With the amount of worship the emperor gets in a single day, he should be somewhat considered a fifth chaos god.🐱
He's definitely in that weird demi god area at the very least but the thing about it is that slaneesh was the result of literal MILLIONS of years worth of gradually increasing levels of Eldar debauchery. The emperor has only had 15k years at most of worship and while there's a LOT more humans then Eldar they're not as strong psychically speaking.
While I agree emps is near certainly gonna become a chaos God the specifics are anyone's guess cause is 10k year of direct if weaker worship more effective then millions of years worship of stronger but indirect worship? Who knows
Millions of years of scattered acts of debauchery vs roughly 10-12000 years of concentrated worship in a singular god on a galactic scale. A god that prior to his internment on the golden throne was a being that embodied the idea of the indomitable human spirit, who in 3 centuries consolidated an entire galaxy. If he ever ascends to godhood, no collection of the chaos gods will ever hope to stand up to him.

Since Nurgle personally rocked up on Slaanesh and broke her out before the later option was chosen for her she decided the first option was marginally better. I wish they could have a happier relationship, similar to TTS, but this is where it stands in canon.

Edit: as a note, the map of the Chaos gods' realms as described by Isyander and the picture Koda added in is for Warhammer Fantasy. It even has the Horned Rat's lair in Nurgle's garden. Also, Koda's description of Slaanesh being a gorgeous woman in a large suburban house wearing an apron and nothing else is definitely better than whatever the Grey Knight saw in canon when he approached Slaanesh.
Fun fact, the warp is extremely easy to explain. The rules are actually incredibly consistent across all stories. It acts like a nebula. Emotions condense like matter and attracted to somilar emotions like gravity. The more mass it gathers, the more sentient it comes.
At the same time, the warp tears in reality maps real world gravity wells in our actual galaxy. So where gravity is highest in our reality, is where the warp tears into reality in theirs. Thats why the eye of terror is the biggest hole, and there are various large seas along the tear line. Tears are effectively where our black holes cause gravity to literally dip into the warp
The warp also acts like a sea of time. If a single moment of time were a single drop of water, its in the infinite ocean of the warp. So it swirls around with all of other time. Which is why you always exit the warp at a different time, and it appears as fast travel. You travel in the warp literally, but you ALWAYS time travel. Its normally consistent-ish, but youre always exiting a different timeline than when you entered. Sometimes you just exit much further into the future or past than normal. It also explains why gods can simply not exist at all... then when theyre born, they always existed for all time. Because theyre born into the ocean of time, so they always existed or never existed. Once it exists, it extends into the future and past at the same time.
So slaanesh consumed all the elves in that moment, and then was able to see/interact with the past and future like the other gods.
When it comes to cosmic horror, it really isnt. The reason you go insane from looking at it, is because youre interacting with raw emotion being forced into your brain. Imagine the mixed emotions of the gods being forced into your brain at the same time. Youre not insane, youre being hyper overdosed with hormones and emotions. Its the same way gods corrupt you. They force a small portion of their emotional mass into you so you generate more of that emotion to feed the demons.

First I'd like to point out that there's a quote (although I do not know if it's canon or not) where Tryazen ponders on the idea of humans being the source of the chaos gods calls it ridiculous and egotistical for them to assume their thoughts and actions birthed the chaos gods when there were basically gods bending the warp to their will during the war in heaven.

With the whole khorne is honest, it's known that he's the god of a good fight. Because he's all about honour, good fight and honesty, could be the values of a great knight if you will.
With that in mind, I like to think khorne was never a force of evil and instead became tainted by his followers twisting his stands of a good fight, to he cares not where the blood flows, just that it flows.
Which is the same for all the chaos gods.
