    You have great riding skills, it's clear that you can use the full potential of the Kove 450 Rally (and even go a bit above the limits of the bike). If I had you riding skills, I would give the Kove 450 Rally a nice upgrade: get the ECU flashed and install the open titanium exhaust and the foam open box air intake. I would also change the fork oil for an oil that keeps its viscocity better at higher temperatures then the original oil does (like for example Motul Factory Line - medium or Ohlins 01303-01).

  • @OverlandTheSlowWay
    @OverlandTheSlowWay Місяць тому +3

    Might be good to mention you have the Euro/US homologated bike, the UK bikes have proper Rally/Enduro oiled foam air filter and with the Ti Exhaust and Pro ECU is definitely sufficiently powerful (approx 55hp) It's an easy change. The suspension is usually criticised as too hard, which mine certainly was, so maybe it's a change or setup issue? The skidplate needs changing to something stronger, mine eventually smashed. If you have larger feet the exhaust and skidplate seem to be an issue, for me not (size 43).
    Good to see honest comments 👍

    Great review as always!;) It's a pleasure to watch how you push every bike to its limits. You're the perfect example of 80% rider 20% bike. By the way don't worry about your english. As my english teacher told once that even the native english speakers don't use correct grammar by the book and they don't care as long as they can understand each other. And we understand you more than enough:)
    By the way did you sell your ktm sxf450 for the T7? I miss your MX/Enduro videos and tutorials, I've watched your old videos many times :D it would be nice if you do some MX/Enduro riding/tutorial videos in english.

    • @rodrigoalvarez81
      @rodrigoalvarez81 Місяць тому

      @ciechantrial well, IMHO the husky is lighter, more powerful, better ratio, way more expensive. the kove, i feel more comfortable standing, more stable, more confident (maybe because of less power engine makes me feeling like that) and fuel tanks are incredible, tft with navigation on the kove, Also, the maintenance is way less in the kove. THIS is exactly what i was looking for. 300lb bike you needs the extra hp, Believe it was neutered for the street legal status, was reading the ecu/intake open foam filter/exhaust will give couple more hp. To bad they do not make the dual tank for ktm 500 and tower screen, or just drop the old husaberg 450fe 70 degree engine into this! The old reviews seemed to have stiff suspension, they must have lighted things up. Wonder if there is any parts for the yuan 49mm forks? are these single cartridge? Not sure why they didnt stick with 48mm like all other brands. Agreed its a good start, but getting into compression ratio, shaving head down for hp leads to reliability, piston,rod,crank, anyone know what they do to the rally Dakar edition?

    Hi @Melnikov, nice riding skills. But regarding your opinion, I'm sorry, but I think it doesn't make any sense that after this bike is at the market from months and months, and with so many reviews already done for the bike that addresses all the problems you mentioned and talk also about the simple solutions to correct those problems, you publish now a review done over a bike right coming out from the shop, to talk about the same problems that hundreds of others reviews already talked. You tested a bike that came out to accomplish with euro5 requirements. If you test any other bike that comes out exactly accomplishing with euro5 requirements, I'm suspect that your opinion it will be exactly the same. Any KTM and other brands sort from the stand already with all these shits removed, like gas limitation removed, exhaust changed, air filters changed, etc, etc. The only difference is that Kove guys are starting now and they did the mistake to homologate a model and deliver it as it was homologated.
    I would mucho more appreciated to view a review from a guy with your knowledge of bikes mechanic and riding skills, but testing the bike that the majority of Kove users are riding, and that's with another complete exhaust line, with the rally foam filter, with other ECU. This it was the really interesting stuff to see in an review doned by you, but I think that you will be tempted to do it, because the bike, as you already could understand, is an excellent base for a top bike.
    Regarding the bashplate, well the majority of the bikes don't bring one, or don't bring anything with minimum conditions to be used at off-road, so I don't see that as a major issue.
    Best Regards and please has you said, you must not take me wrong, I'm only giving my comment 😊

That is a bike to be cheap, reliable for the average rider, that whants to do a weekend event on a more light enduro bike, instead of T7 or even bigger bikes. You are running the EURO5 setup. 40ish HP. Upgrade to the Rally ECU, Pipe and airbox and you will have nooooo issues with power. It gains about 10hp hen and you will not complain..
    Also the exhaust pipe. This is in ALL Rally bikes... they are there so they are protected and also so they radiate heat away from the seat and motor. If you have ridden rally bikes before this is something you learn to understand and it doesn't really bother me.
    This also applies to the skidplate. They are also pretty much always tight on rally bikes.. .as you have space to have water or tools there and low fuel tanks.. Again you get used to it. I have large feet and really have no issue with pipe or skidplate it just takes a bit of time to find your foot placement.
    But also you are not wrong with what you say in general for the stock Euro5 bike. I do think you like many are comparing this to an enduro bike which it is not and even in the name is clear it is a rally bike. If you want a Baja style enduro bike (adventure bike) this isn't for you. Or if it is you need to adapt.

    • @AMelnikovs
      @AMelnikovs  2 місяці тому +2

      Of course, you can change exhaust, ecu, and more, but if we follow the law, then bike is not legal anymore, about feet position, I want keep my feet in right position, keep my feet as close as it possible to keep bike tight but flexible in ankles, correct body position is the key to good bike control

    • @fushki
      @fushki 2 місяці тому +2

      @ if you ride the KTM Rally you will find exactly the same issue.
      This is just how rally bikes are.
      I understand your point about street legality. However this is not what the bike was really made for or intended to be used for. The Euro5 is made to homologate it and then for you to race it.
      This is also how the KtM rally or all rally cars etc… are made.
      It is a grey zone that is sort of acceptable in that situation.
      I agree that Kove didn’t realise the adventure rider potential in the bike and now has loads of people complaining about overheating of fuel, lack of power etc…,
      So it does seem like a new pipe to be better makes sense… but again KtM Husky…. Their stock muflers are notoriously bad and everyone put in an Akrapivic almost instantly.
      So go with Arrow or Coober exhausts as they are strreet legal and then you only go illegal by removing the mid pipe (catalyst). You gain 10hp and cool the bike a lot but also save like 5kg in weight.

    • @AMelnikovs
      @AMelnikovs  2 місяці тому

      I was checking Fantic Rally Bike and don't see there so obvious problem with feet position, exhaust pipe is not so close to footpeg as on Kove and between gear lever and skidplate is also more space

    • @fushki
      @fushki 2 місяці тому +1

      @ the fantic setup isn’t really rally… they don’t really do dakar or do it well.
      I have a 2000 ktm rally. Same pipe issue. Tried a new ktm rally… same issue.
      From what I can see Honda and Sherko also same pipe setups.
      If you want you can make alongsr midpipe with steeper upswing.
      But the issue of this is more pipe is exposed.
      Compared with my old KTM Kove is amazing. On the KtM rear brake pedal has only 1-2cm gap between pipes.
      Also remember enduro riding is not the same as rally. But you can also see people riding the rally in enduro tracks and jumps quite ok.

      @@AMelnikovs That's because the Fantic Rally bike is basically a Yamaha YZF450 (exactly the same Yamaha YZF450 frame, motor, fork and rear suspension). Only the platics and the navigation tower is developed by Fantic. The Fantic Rally is a really really great bike, but it is almost double the price of the Kove 450 Rally... I think you have the rider capability to enjoy the Fantic bike more (ride it hard) but don't forget that 90% of the riders have far less riding capabilities then you do.

    What a joke review. It's a rally bike, not an enduro bike. As it's not enough for this category, tell me what other bike has 8 Gallons standard?

      KTM rally, Husqvarna rally, GasGas rally, Fantic rally, and they also got 8+ gallons of fuel tanks. What do you want to say with that ,,it's not enduro bike,,? Because it's not Enduro, it's normal have all those problems?

      @@AMelnikovs Who sticks their whole foot under the shifter to change gears? Try using your toe, or the side of your boot. That was just ridiculous.
      And just to compare apples to oranges:
      GasGas is out of the rally biz and their 450 was unobtainable and a closed-course full race bike only.
      KTM's rally replica- 45k$ US plus tax and VAT and fees, and good luck getting one, also- with those two- you get a slip of paper called a DOM, no registration, no keys, no nada, it's full race only. And they might hold 7.9 gals on a good day. Husky does not sell Rally bikes to the public, gota make yer own- the 22 held 8+ gals in wicked nice custom graduated tanks.
      Fantic? Pffft..Right. Call Yamaha. Hahahaha...
      As far as your Kove? You have a Euro spec, choked up street model that started life as a budget "rally styled/inspired" moto but it got screwed by the EU. As such, it cant breathe. Stop whining and pick up a wrench, you're a biker, since when did any law/emission's stuff get in our way for Krisesakes. Is everyone w/ an EU restricted bike such sniveling poofters? Geta Coober pipe and ECU, get the open air box from Kove Power or Uncle Wangs, then go pop some wheelies and report back in a better mood.
      Oh- and the Law?? When it comes time for your inspection it takes all of 10 mins. to get it back to stock- I know plenty of doods in RU/EU/Etc. that do it that way. And also you are riding in the DIRT, just how many cops do you have in the dirt over there? I bet ZERO. And if you ride NORMAL on the way home, who's to know what you did to your bike????
      Been riding for 45 years, every year the bikes get WAY better and yet the little girls whine louder. Used to be we moto heads took great pride in taking something slow and making it FAST. Screw the rules. Fix it and rip it. Be it a Husky, KTM, Yammy, whatever. If it aint right, fix it and let the moto world know how and what you did. That's what REAL moto heads do. Be a part of the solution. Own it and improve it. Or sell it. Up to you.
      So.... Grow a pair and grab a wrench, get to work, spice your Kove up and make it FLY, re-do the suspension for your size and weight (like that's something to complain about? It's set up for a milk-toast 140lb chinaman, get a clue!) or maybe just buy the Pro or EX race version and put fake blinkers on it and stuff- just like we used to do back in the day, maybe even ditch a cop or two on it...or just keep complaining, your choice.
      BTW- I got a 24 USA spec Standard Off-Road Pro model, ya know, the teal/red one with the Ti pipe, it's street legal, with the 'factory goodies' and the 230.1 tune. Re-did the fork with Honda bits. That's pretty much it. Short of a full race bare bones rally bike w/ 65 ponies, it's about as close as you'll get with a keyed ignition switch and blinkers. And P/S- I like the ABS once I got used to it, just gota use a gentle touch and not stomp the pedal, it really works great with engine braking, it's pretty awesome!

      Nice to see this bike ridden hard with proper redneck adv gear.
      ~7.5 gallons standard between 2 front low-slung and one rear tank, making for one very stable ride on the rougher stuff.
      Emptied tanks - wasn't able to get to 8, but who's counting with nearly 375 miles of bike (not butt) range on latest decat map.
      As a size comparison the 2025 R 1300 GS Adventure has a 7.9 gallon tank, on top.
