    Dave Turbo and non turbo rotaries have the same apex seals. Seals don't go bad for no reason. Rotaries just don't like sitting in general. Put some atf fluid in the leading and trailing plug holes. Let it soak over night. Spin it by hand, if it turns over by hand. Crank her up. If you have a stuck seal press on it though the exhaust ports. Sometimes you can free them up. 🤙🏾

    I ran Klotz in my old FC. It's a very high quality oil to use for premix and smelled awesome. It never fouled the plugs. Throw a quart in every fill up to make the engine last much longer. It's definitely not cheap adding a high quality oil to every tank but it really makes these cars run much better and longer.

    I felt deja vu while watching this video. just revived an S4 manual trans, GTU about 8 months ago but It was sitting for over 12 years. Had to replace all of the fuel system (clean gas tank, new fuel level sensor, pump, fuel filter, all 4 injectors) but it ran well after that and I couldn’t believe it especially after all of the rotary horror stories. That gooey residue in the windshield is from the dash cooking in the desert sun and decomposing you’ll need a new dash as that one is done. I would still do a compression test to see if there are any seals going bad if they are all good and it runs rough check for vacuum leaks which these are notorious for dry rotted vacuum lines.

    you should keep it stock dude, keep the patina on it, and keep the wheels, but go over the engine and get it running like new again. Maybe restore the interior back to stock but not so nasty. That would be so sick. It is so rare to find unmodded cars like this, you really should keep it stock.

    Cars like these are becoming so valuable and extremely hard and rare to find interior parts and stock parts just like my aw11 mr2 these cars running good and clean untouch will shoot for a lot of money but I just enjoy the fact I got something a lot of people don’t have in original condition worn but still worth a lot more than cut panels and fatted out tires everyone has there taste but honestly I see this and I get to think dam how it must have looked like in the 80s coming out of the dealership who drove it how it ended up there that’s something now every moded car can keep once done is better than touched. Tbh I say clear coat the time machine and fix the important stuff and keep it respectful to its history

    I had the same situation with my fuel tank. Car sat for over 3 years with a full tank of gas. I drained it all out and then took some muriatic acid with water and a bag of ice and shook that all around. It cleaned all the surface rust out of the tank after a few rounds of that.

Sounds crazy but me and my bro r rotary masters lol.

  • @metalinvalidmatt
    @metalinvalidmatt 5 років тому +3

    that Premix ratio might be a bit too much oil for the fuel, half quart to 5gal? that's 40:1 premix.. barely any fuel getting in there! plus the OMP should/could be working, adding in even more (afaik it attempts to make it effectively a 133:1 mix when it's working correctly.
    even if the OMP is fully disconnected, you really shouldn't be above a 100:1 ratio, but would be fine for starting it up again after a long if its a bit thicker than that. personally I still retain my S4 OMP functionality, but add another 250:1 premix on top due to having a slightly bigger turbo.
    but this is a pretty cool build, keen to see more!

    I never understood why people who work on fuel injected cars don't own a set of noid lights. They make life simple you plug it in and if it flashes you know you have good or bad wiring/ signal to the injector. I would be willing to bet the injectors are cloged with old fuel.

    hmm fuel system probably has that varnish in it like the gas tank, injectors may be stuck. you can try pulling them and soaking them in some fresh gas to un-stick them. also if the fc is not speed density there could be a major air leak from bad vacuum hoses/ intake piping. that nasty junk in the cooling system was just dried up coolant, flush the system good and it should be fine.

    It doesn't need premix if it's stock, Omp should be adequate. Change the oil if it's been sitting. Too much premix lowers octane which is never good on an engine type extremely sensitive to detonation.
    Clean and flow test injectors. pull the turbo and you'll be able to turn it over by hand and inspect each chamber and also press and free up apex seals. spray a little premix oil in there too.
    All of this should have been done before even cranking I might add lol

    This is very familiar to what I am doing at the exact same time! Also the 87 T2’s never came with a spoiler. Also looks like you got lucky and got a factory manual steering rack car! I had almost all of the exact same issues that you are having, I ended up replacing the entire tank, sending unit, pump, filter, and injectors then it fired right up. Also I would like to know who got theirs cheaper🤣 me or you? Good Luck man, follow mine and I’ll follow yours! Looks like we are in the same timeline!
