+Alan Marshall Yup if it comes up again ill advise her to order that purge valve and replace that, worse case the fuel filler neck needs to be replaced. If they are anything like the rangers from ford they are around 300 and up cant remember the price on those but they are pricey, good news is it only takes an hour or so to change it out.
I had the alert on the dashboard, about 2 weeks ago for one drive. But, the tester a day ago at a local car chop still said “ evaporation control system leak.”
I got a 2010 Ford fusion hybrid tryed cleaning the filler with air an wd40 an changed the purge value an the engine light keeps coming back on. now what do I try
Thank you. I have same code on my 2013 Ford Cmax hybrid. It's raining so I haven't tried cleaning the flap yet. Does this problem affect MPG? my MPG has gone down from an average of 38-40, to 30 at my last fill up. Are there any dangers is continuing to drive with the evaporative leak?
Thanks for responding. I cleaned the gas filler flap with compressed air and WDF-40. Will the light go pout on its own, or do I need to disconnect the battery and wait a few days of driving to see if the engine light comes back on?
+King Kong disconnect the battery and see what happens you would need to drive it around as normal so the computer can recalibrate everything so to speak
Thank you for that helpful video. One question,,,how much did you pay for your code reader and does it come with adaption plugs for different vehicles? Thank you for your time and answer when you get around to it my friend.👍🏻😉😀
Have you ever cleared the codes then recheck it and it still picks it up? Basically, you clear it and recheck it to make sure it cleared but it still remains? The scanner pciked up a few codes and those cleared but one code p0455 just will not clear but so far no light has come on.
I had the same code on 2014 Fusion. Cleaned the flap and reset code 3x - kept coming back. Took to dealer - they said a grommet on the fuel tank was crack. The grommet is not serviceable - so the fuel tank needed to be replaced. $2500! After 82,500 miles, this is the first issue with the car. So, the bragging about my problem free Fusion ends here. Contacted FMC - they will not provide any relief for this. Dealer said they see this with the Edge as well. I have been a loyal Ford customer for 45 years. My next vehicle will likely be a Toyota - sorry to say. Prefer to buy American.
Don’t know what to tell you. It’s the most common problem with these cars. If anything blame ford. Not the people illustrating what the common issue actually is.
@@hanksgarage_ Testing all the components now. NOPE....not the valve thingie on the firewall either. Time to smoke it. After that, jack the car up and begin looking at all the other system parts pieces.
I've always wondered about the Ford capless system & if they would eventually throw a code. great info!

Great video! It was very helpful 🌸
Spray some lubricant in gas cap area and work funnel in and out !! The o-ring goes bad in there doesn’t seal good !
Why would they ever go capless? (I’m asking during the video, sorry if you mention it.)
Nice video - but...most Fusions have an in-tank fuel filter, you can't just change out the filter as you stated. Other than that - good info!
Yea I think my point was regardless where the filter is located it would still have to be changed. I am aware they are in the tank.
What fuel filter isn't inside the gas tank lol
@@charlescooperderose8872 Some cars have external inline fuel filter
Would that issue also cause a white smoke to exit the exhaust?
No it wouldnt

Get a new car lol
Would this work for they Hybrid Ford Fusion as well?

Yea if its not sealing properly it can cause issues with mpg I would imagine, as far as long term I am not sure
Seems like these hybrids are just a wash economically. Whatever is saved in gas $$ is spent on purchase premiums and repairs..
Yea I've heard that a lot from hybrid owners from all the main brands sadly

I bought it maybe 5 years ago but you can find them cheap on amazon now just have a look at some of the reviews.
Having check engine light on deserves inspection of course, but what damage would EVAP leak cause? If any?
Zip. It's just a trick of carmakers to stress the F out of the elderly and people that do not have the money to waste on scammer mechanics.
depending on what state you're in, it may cause you to fail emissions testing.
Anything that makes your car roughly idle will cause problems. Quit trying to lie to people.
In this liberal state of CA, my fusion won’t pass smog because of it.
Can you pass inspection with this code?
Did you get a answer??
@@Blazee24242 sorry no answer, i traded in the fusion for an honda hrv . good luck
No. Won't pass.
Thanks great video

Offhand no I haven’t, however you may have an underlying issue With that purge valve.
@@hanksgarage_ Do you mean the replacement part or something else?
The purge valve itself may be messed up and need to be changed.
Certain codes cannot be turned off by a scanner. The car must cycle correctly a few times and will clear code itself.
@@darylkik777 exactly! Those codes are called permanent codes and go away only after the ecm deems the problem is no longer present

Literally just got this code in my 2019
For $2500, I’ll drive with the check engine light
@@adampecore6917I just found my long lost automotive soulmate! A strip of duct tape over the check engine light is WAY cheaper than 2500 bucks!

Where do I go to for the code reader
Great video..does it work on a 2013 mustang gt thank you have a blessed day and be blessed
I would think it would if its a capless system.
I got this problem with only 34400km..
Im gonna call the cops cause you keep violating that car lol

Ford not the only one now. It’s starting to become a standard across the board. My ram has it too
