I purchased an 8-bit remote this morning after watching your video last night. It makes the culling process much more ergonomic, especially when paired with culling software like Aftershoot. Previously, I had been using an editing board for this purpose, but it felt cumbersome. I prefer to use the board for editing time instead. I decided to go with a larger controller because the one you use appears quite small. 😅 Overall, it’s a fantastic idea!
glad to read this!! i didn’t want to over complicate the video but… i often use TWO at a time… one in each hand. i lay around with my arms around my shoulders etc in every comfortable position imaginable haha
i constantly rotate through apps from every company - but i do love this workflow w/ aftershoot. it’s very similar to how i’ve always used aftershoot even from their early days. the ai space is rapidly evolving so it’s really tough to say which is better… because better how? example: aftershoot needs no internet but doesn’t have retouching yet. for some that might be a big deal, but others not.
Hey Sam, question for you! Don’t you find that Aftershoot lacks the emotional intelligence to pick photos that feel candid and natural which aren’t “perfect”? Photos that feel the most authentic and natural are usually not completely tack sharp, with both people looking at the camera with eyes wide open - which Aftershoot prioritizes those photos above all else, which makes it miss alot of the best photos from a shoot I currently outsource my culling after years of being disappointed with Aftershoot but I desperately want to automate that using AI. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated. If there’s a way to purchase your Aftershoot culling AI profile, I’d be definitely consider it
totally understand your point, and that’s why i still take a manual pass over what it selects, and have a button mapped to punch in to view the whole unselected set if i *feel* that it has missed something. some parts of the portrait session i’ll just manually take a look at everything, and then other parts i won’t - it takes a while to get a feel for it, but i’ll never go back!
