It's kind of pointless to judge this music from the point of view of a completely different musical tradition. It's repetitive, yeah. It goes on for a long time, sure. And those are valid reasons for you not to be into it. But it doesn't make any sense to point those traits out as flaws when they are so intrinsically part of what this music is about. They aren't trying and failing to write a good song; they are speaking a different musical language.

I have so much love for Mdou ....and I knew you were gonna liken his resemblance towards Hendrix...one thing I must mention is yes they both are left handed lead specialists but Hendrix only started out playing upside down right handed guitars but that was short lived as he eventually went full lefty restrung for lefty...I play lefty upside down on a righty and it's a rare style that I've spent so long getting accustomed to... I've considered going full lefty but everything I've self taught myself would literally be flipped upside down...Jimi is even more amazing than credited due to the lack of empathetic artist and fans who could never truly understand that harsh reality...great review and I appreciate the broad mind.
I'm a big phish/dead fan and love this style of rock that slowly progresses into a climax. I definitely see the perspective that it can be boring/repetitive to a rock fan but personally as a fan of progressive rock I enjoy it a ton. Different strokes for different folks!

That’s a great! I listen to classic metal and rock especially, and everything good in any genre! This is something beautiful and different, and i’m kinda used to that vibe because i love good classic rai music (algerian famous music)and rock generally! But why are you so hard on them!? 😜🤷♂️

Agreed. You summed them up pretty well with "it's cool at first" but then it gets old quick. Tough to get through a whole album or show for sure. That was an interesting story about the guitar teacher and the exacto knife!
Difference between African and European music. Much more focused on a droning beat, which comes across as "boring" to our ears.
