      WTF, I lived in 7th floor O'Shag in 1997 and you people have it too good. AC and toilets with doors, that's luxury living.

      Hi.. I am Rythm Agarwal. I'll be attending VT from fall 2019. I wanted to know that are there rooms in O'shag with a microwave and a fridge inside the room itself? And also are there rooms for single person? Please let me know. It will be a great help.

      @@rythmagarwal8034 Hi Rythm, welcome to the VT family! No rooms on campus come with a microwave or fridge, those have to be provided yourself. There are also no single rooms, only doubles and triples. Hope this helps!

      is o’shag super popular/fill up quickly? if so, what other back up options would be best?

    We had our housing time slot today and chose a dorm in Oshag, but were not apart of the LLC. Are we still allowed to go in the common areas, offices, and study rooms? Because on the floor plan it says those areas are for LLC students.

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  4 роки тому +2

      It might mean those spaces were built with the LLC in mind, but anyone who lives there can go wherever they want, even the roof

    are you able to share the different configurations for the room like you mentioned at 5:11?

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  5 років тому +6

      I'll be honest, I forgot I had even said that when I finished the video. So I don't have any pictures, but what i mostly meant by that was it is pretty much possible to configure the beds in any loft and still make the room work. Both lofted, both unlofted, one lofted, etc. I don't think any two rooms were exactly equal on my hall, so there is a lot of room to see what works best for you.

    Are the rooms on each floor numbered like even room numbers on one side of the hall and odd numbers on the other side. And if so which rooms face courtyard? My daughter is picking her room tomorrow! Also, are there any rooms to avoid for noise like near the elevator etc. thanks!

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  5 років тому +6

      The rooms are numbered even on one side, odd on the other. The odd numbers face Prairie Quad, and the even numbers face the courtyard in the front of the building. Both views are pretty good, so I wouldn't worry about that though! As for noise, it can get pretty noisy the closer you are to the lounges in the center, especially on the weekends. If you want a quiet room, I would definitely suggest something toward the end of the hall. Hope this helps!

    How is the social scene in o'shag? Ive heard pritchard is the main social dorm so how does it compare?

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  3 роки тому +4

      Pritchard is the known party/social dorm, so kids who like that tend to choose it. That being said, any traditional style dorm is going to be pretty social, just make sure to get a roommate that is on the same page, it makes it much easier. When I lived in O'Shag our floor was pretty close, there were constantly people in the lounge, and weekends were fun (each floor is around 40-50 people I think). Pritchard is way bigger, so you have more opportunities to meet people I guess.

    Do you have to apply for an LLC to get O' Shag or you just apply?

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  5 років тому +1

      Anthony Vo Around half of the building is in the LSCRC as of now, which is the leadership college. Joining that guarantees you a spot in O'Shag, but you don't have to join to get into the building.

    Is there an elevator? and if so has it ever not been working?

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  5 років тому

      There are two elevators that normally work 24/7. I can't think of a time where one of them was down more than a day.

    i toured today during hokie focus and heard that most of it will be reserved for the llc thing. how much of it will be open to people not joining that and would it feel like you don’t mesh with those people if you aren’t in it? thanks!!

    • @jordanjames2536
      @jordanjames2536  5 років тому +1

      Emily Summers I think the building does "reserve" rooms for the LLC, but there is no way the whole building is going to be taken up by it. They will open it up for general admissions once they realize it's not going to get filled.
      As for the mesh question, there is really barely any difference between kids that are in the LLC and those that aren't. Everyone in the building gets the same benefits and it is truly a community built around O'Shag, not the LLC.

      jordanjames if you did not apply for the LLC and none at all, is there a way to apply to a residential college still? Or do you need to apply to an LLC in order to get a housing there. How do you get a housing place you want without an LLC?

    • @starwalker456
      @starwalker456 5 років тому

      @@_Hanako. The building will (most likely) be ~50% occupied by LSCRC students meaning that there will be ~150 spaces available for non-LSCRC (or, non-LLC) housing.

      @@_Hanako. yes -- while the university is striving towards more LLC involvement, there are many residential dorms that do not have LLC's

    how are the genders split up? by floor? also, where is room 541, is that toward the end?

      @jordanjames2536  4 роки тому +3

      halls 2-5 are split gender, guys one side girls on the other. 1, 6 and 7 are all single gender. I can't really remember how the rooms were laid out, but I dont think 541 is too close to the end.
