    That is not rust. It is the slight weeping of the ferrofluid/ magseal. You can see in the AR clutch housing that after hours of submersion and cranking while submerged. It retained it's effectiveness.
    Everything you see is after half a season of hard use and neglect. No wash downs, no cleanings...Nothing. It also was left baking in my vehicle without any cleaning for the entire month of july (this cleaning was done August 4th.)
    The amazing part is. I didn't even need to do a deep dive. As everything internally was 100% sound. No degradation of the factory lubrication. For the first time in hundreds of reels. I acutally re used the grease on the main and pinion gears. I only added grease to where the the main shaft traverses the pinion (out of habit after realizing it wouldn't contaminate the "mag seal"
    This is an incredible reel.
    Tight lines!

    Great info and reviews. Just picked up a Saltiga Bay Jigging reel a few months ago for my heavy swimbait setup for snook and tarpon. What a sweet reel! I am impressed with what Daiwa has been putting out lately. I am not married to one brand but find myself gravitating to Daiwa. I have the BG, Ballistic LT, and Procyon as well. They have all served me well so far.

    Hoping to see you do a saltiga BJ tear down one of these days. I just picked up a 4000H and i must say it feels like a phenomenal reel.

    Just a quick question... Saltiga 15 3500h... will the 4000h spool be interchangeable?

    That is a beast of a reel. I have caught some cows here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on the Abu garcia 7500i/heaver bait and weight. I've been fishing the past 2 seasons on spinning gear with plugs trying ro figure out the fish here. Ive had luck with the sp minnows and have friends that caught fish up to 51 inches in strong current on similar plugs.The setup i have is a pin after casting hours with a slmmer iii 6500 which weighs a ton with 10'6 mojo 3/4 - 4. I'm kind of leaning over towards the saragosa 6000 sw with 9' rod 3/4 - 4 for plugging from shore. Im still torn to wait for a saragosa 6k SWB. I kind of feel that reel will hit the market this coming year.

      +Skyler Jeddore I'll ask my friend about the swb. He's directly involved in the surf rods and reels as well as the development of the tranx and gosa. I have my saltiga 4k paired with a 96 tiralejo. Weightless setup that launches better than my old legend 106 3/4-4

    What do you think of the diawa J Braid 8 strand? I've uses The. Samurai braid and it's nice but for the price the J-Braid ×8 is pretty good. What do you think? I was gonna fill my Saltiga with it next time

      It's performed flawlessly and it's consistent.
      I've now used 8lb, 15, 20, 30, and 50. I'm impressed enough by the consistency in ABS strength. To spool up a reel with 400 yards of 50lb to jig tuna using 19-22lbs of drag (trying to break a tranx 500)
      With a PR knot I can get close to 70lbs of break strength with 50lb.
      I used 8lb samurai and j braid side by side. The only thing i noticed was a different color. And the samurai seemed to be lighter (held a bit less water when used)
      It is in a class on it's on for the price. Nothing comes close. It's legit stuff.
      And some forum members claim it suffers dig in issues......LOLOL...that's bs. It does not.
      I've been buying from here. Cheap and authentic.

      Thanks a lot for the quick response! I know you absolutely know your stuff and are more knowledgeable than 99.9% of others on these things and I had figured you'd tried that line before. I have my Saragosa 10K filled with 65lb J-Braid and it's impressed me. Thanks again! Been a subscriber since the beginning. Love the videos

    which is better: Stella sw 6000 or Saltiga 4000? Thanks

      Depends if you ask a Shimano fan or Daiwa fan! People are very protective of their brands! Tackle Advisors is actually a rarity while he admits he loves Shimano spinners he also accepts some reels are better! You can’t go wrong with either though they’re both great reels! I had and sold a Stella SW because I found myself babying it! Saltiga to me does feel a bit more substantial which I like! Buy either, buy both, catch big fish!

    size wise, is this 4000H about the same size as a shimano 5k?

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  7 років тому +1

      Weight wise yes similar to 5k and 6k. I think capacity wise it's closer to the current 6000 shimano size. The daiwa holds about 300 yards of 30lb j braid spiderwire stealth, 832

      Are you fishing the canal? may want to go up in size a bit. If you're fishing there it's not the size of the fish that demands it. It's the insane current and working of heavy jigs deep that wear down smaller or lesser reels.

    • @GarageForty7
      @GarageForty7 7 років тому

      Tackle Advisors thanks again for the good tip. Yes I will be hitting up the canal but mostly I'll be throwing stickbaits. Hopefully I won't have to resort to heavy jigs.

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  7 років тому

      Gotcha....Never the less. you may want to consider the 5k. A ten pound bass in that kind of current can fight 10x harder. Make sure the rod can match the pressure that you need to put on it.
      There is a forum on Stripers Online specific for the canal and those nutty Ditch trolls.
      I'm not a canal guy but fish 3-4kt current near my house for stripers. Lots of my friends hammer the canal though.
      Read through here as there is a good amount of info to be had.

    So is it worth buying it or not?

      I'd say so. I really enjoy fishing mine. (though i haven't fished the certate 4000 hd or the saltiga bj)
      Nice and light...fits my 9'6 surf setup perfectly. And works great on Daiwas proteus 8 footer for boat plugging.

      Tackle Advisors- I have the Saltiga Expedition 5500H, the Saltiga BJ 3500H, and the Certate 3500. I have to say that they blow Shimano away. Don't misunderstand me, I have plenty of Shimano reels too. But lately Daiwa has really stepped up their spinning reels and they are superb. The Certate is like a BG with the TwinPower bearings inside of it. It is super smooth! My BJ 3500 feels like the Sustain with Stella's rigidity. And the Expedition- to me it's like a Van Staal with the silky smoothness of a Stella. Right now I have the Saltiga Expedition paired with a St. Croix Legend Surf Rod 11'. The BJ is paired with a Daiwa Labrax AGS guides 10'. For the Certate, I have it paired with a G Loomis NRX 8' inshore rod. The combo is superbly the best.

    • @vsonic86

      is Daiwa Salitga good at water sealing like Van staal?

  • @stevenguyen2546
    @stevenguyen2546 7 років тому

    should label this as Daiwa Saltiga 4000H - Saltiga tear down after hours of submersion and over 1000lbs of fish caught ,,, that way it could be search easier.

      Thank you Steve. Honestly. This video was kind of a. Quick upload. I posted a full review on StripersOnline.com and all of the still images did not orient properly. So instead of pulling my hair out. I popped them into a youtube slide show. But you are 100% correct. I'm going to reshoot it down the road and hopefully compare it to a Saltiga bj and certate hd.
