  • Rory Sutherland is one of the world's leading consumer behaviour experts, the Vice Chairman of Ogilvy Advertising and an author.
Cancel culture is as prominent as ever before. But, why is everybody so sensitive? Thankfully, Rory has spent decades understanding human motivation and subconscious behaviour to let us know how to avoid it.
We dissect the mysteries behind stand-up comedy, navigate the tricky terrain of cancel culture, explore banned words, and hear about the time Rory nearly cracked penis jokes with the Queen's doctor.
Discover Rory's fascinating encounters with Def Jam Records founder Rick Rubin, unravel the epic tale of the Concorde's spectacular failure, and explore why AI won't be stealing our jobs anytime soon. And, of course, don't miss Rory's intriguing take on the Hollywood dark film, Saltburn.
I'm beyond lucky to bring you these conversations. Rory's book 'Alchemy' tops my all-time favorites, and spending a combined 5 hours with him has been nothing short of a blessing.

Very good interview, this is a classic of the Rory genre. Really enjoyed his ideas around class, we need a series where Rory pronounces his unique thoughts on societal topics unrelated to marketing, in fact he should start his own channel!

That I can do or say something that makes you laugh, is not the same as it being funny. Old school comedy (that is still using by tonight shows), is about laughing AT someone, not with them, it's a type of bullying. The culture war is over whatever it's okay to harm someone mentally or not... It has taken us forever to come closer to labeling physical harm as something entirely negative, but we still have this part time culture of it being okay to make someone commit suicide because of how bad we make them feel.

Disgusting term, act and people that engage in it. Bring back strict Christian ways of life, at least we had some semblance of morals in those days….

Well done for getting a word in edgeways. I very much like Rory, but he could do with listening more.

@@mytinplaterailway Well fine you are entitled to your opinion. But please consider this. I'm not watching this to listen to the other guy. He's not got Rory on so Rory can listen to him. He's got Rory on because of the audience Rory attracts to his channel. So, those are my reasons to disagree with you, but give you the opportunity to explain your comment of "Rory should listen more" . But you didn't. I don't believe you considered my point of view at all. Doubtlessly you consider my point of view stupid. That of course doesn't mean that it is, merely that you consider it to be so. Which is fine. But please, don't state opinion, as fact. It isn't.

I love it when Rory elucidates a point, concludes if and then suddenly associates more examples and linkages.
He's a guy you want talking.
