  • GoPro HERO 8 Cinematic Video: • GoPro HERO 8: Oregon A...
    A bunch of time-lapses, hyper lapses (aka TimeWarp 2.0), and new night-lapse video recorded with the new GoPro 8: Black Edition. All filmed in Oregon.

    Rotating Timelapse Head: amzn.to/2Ri7XTJ
    Joby GorillaPod: amzn.to/2N4QfjU
    GoPro Jaws/Flex Clamp: amzn.to/2N82FHK
    SETTINGS/EDITING: White Balance was always in automatic mode except for the shot of the stars at the end. I had a hard time remembering which driving ones I filmed using AUTO speed and which were recorded at a set speed (like 10X, 15X or 30X). None of the footage is retouched or recolored.

    Outstanding video compilation!! Just picked up the Hero 8 Black. You stated in your settings/editing that none of the footage is retouched or recolored. What color profile did you have the 8 set at? You did all the post editing on a PC?

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  3 роки тому

      Standard color profile. Default settings (except for some of the stars ones which I manually cranked the ISO/shutter to the max cause it was so dark).
      Edited on a Mac (not sure if you meant Mac vs PC or PC vs Mobile?) using FCPX but all the “editing” really entailed was arranging & slightly trimming the clips to align to the music.

      Glad someone finally noticed this! It's actually pretty simple but kinda hard to describe in words (I'll do my best).
      Basically, all you do is mount the device on a ballhead tripod and tilt it out at 90°. Then, attach the GoPro to the device using a GoPro right angle mount (like this: amzn.to/35okJEg) so that the GoPro won't be sideways and voila!
      Hope that explains it clearly. I'm thinking of doing a video all about different tricks to get better timelapses and hyperlapses with GoPro's so I'll include this if I do.

      Simple. Under the shooting settings go to Resolution which will give you the option of 1080p, 1440p, 2.7k or 4K. 1440p and 2.7K use the 4:3 aspect ratio so just select one of the other two (1080p or 4K).

      If you tap the touchscreen on the HERO8 while doing a hyperlapse, the little hyperlapse icon will change to world icon (for real world time or something) and the video recording will slowly change from Timewarp to regular recording (no audio tho). Another tap on the screen will bring it back to the Timewarp.

    Great video..... but I would like to know long to film each of these segments?

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  4 роки тому +1

      Really depends on the shot but the math is pretty straightforward:
      (Length of clip x 30fps) x (shooting rate/60 secs) = Time it took to film
      So...
      For the second clip (which is 9 seconds long, with a photo taken every 5 seconds) the math would look something like this:
      (9 x 30) x (5/60) =
      (270) x (1/12) = 22.5 min of actual filming

    Thanks for sharing! Is there any mobile app that will convert a hero 8 night lapse sequence? Every one talks about the Quik mobile app by GoPro but i don't think it can edit a night lapse sequence

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  4 роки тому

      If you use Night Lapse video you don’t have to convert it. If you recorded the Night Lapse using the photo mode (which takes and stores a photo for each frame), you’ll have to resort to using a computer - with either photoshop/premiere pro or a dedicated time-lapse maker app - for stitching them all together.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  4 роки тому +1

      I was playing around trying the “Auto” speed for Timewarp since GoPro just added it with the 8. After using it a couple times though I think I’ll probably stick with manually choosing the speed myself.

  • @jisaakm
    @jisaakm 4 роки тому

    Hey nice video, have a question regarding the night lapse, if want to take a sunset for example from 4 pm to 8pm do you recomend me to use nightlapse since the beginning or should I use normal timewarp then switch it to nigntlapse? Settings in auto of course

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  4 роки тому +2

      That’s really a tough one and it’s hard to give a definitive answer, but the general thing to know is that regular timelapse more will hit a wall at about 30min after sunset (it’s slowest shutter speed) where your image will just get darker. Nightlapse on the other hand can go all the way up to 30sec shutter speeds if needed and even crank up the ISO to 3200 as well.
      Because of this, I’d usually go with Nightlapse if I ever plan on recording past sunset.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  2 роки тому

      To make a timelapse out of the photos you can use iMovie or Final Cut Pro X for Mac or a video editing program like Adobe Premeire. I think even Photoshop can be used to make Timelapse’s though it doesn’t play them back well.
      However, why do you need to have the timelapse output as photos? I love being able to have my GoPro output the timelapse as video cause it’s so much easier and still great quality.

      Are you uploading from your phone? A lot of people transfer the footage straight from the GoPro to their smartphone (which losses a lot of video quality) and then upload it.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  4 роки тому +1

      You’ll undoubtedly get better quality using the photo mode, however this requires you stitch all the photos together in post using Photoshop, Premiere Pro or some other similar application. This is the only way you could do it until the GoPro 5, and since then I’ve never used the photo mode except for when doing night lapses.
      The short answer is: unless you plan on doing a lot of editing in post or are shooting for a film/TV show (something that will be viewed on a bigger screen) Timelapse Video will satisfy your needs and be way easier.
