Arundhati could have remained silent and enjoyed the A list celebrity life after the success of her writing career, but she chose to stand up for the oppressed and her beloved India. She is a national hero and should be supported. She has nothing to gain, she has been shunned by the elite as she makes them feel uncomfortable. It's about exposing the 'divide and rule' of the elite, the same policy used by the British. The Caste system is another form of extreme racism, something that was a minor issue pre-British rule. The majority of people in India, just like in Pakistan, live in poverty. The political elite, police, administration etc are stealing the wealth of the nation and telling people their enemies are in India or Pakistan. They are fooling the masses as though there were no internet or free media alternatives. Colonialism tried to destroy India, now India's elite are doing the same.

Arundhati Roy is truly a treasure of modern time whom clearly erudite the current political weather which last for last hundreds of years of capitalism on the pretense of “Democracy," which she and millions of US citizens understand that capitalism is only for 1% but manipulated and utilized by the farce of “democracy”. Roy is absolutely correct that India is a Corporate, Upper Caste State designed by West system since colonization by the Britain, that India never gets off from the shadow.
India is in disarray by following the West “propaganda," “program," “brain wash” promotes and advances distorted “democracy," and follows the West road map, that India open door policy allowed the West/US depleting resources at any rare but only receives minuscule benefit of financial cuts.
Roy is extremely worried that the India’s foot steps will destroy their citizen, their land, their resources on the name of “capitalism” benefits 1% of India’s very rich and US mega corporations. The imported US GMO foods already have devastated impact in India causes permeated cancers, and US imported GMO seeds have farmers committed suicide at stunning scale. one must learned the facts and realities of negative US influences but questions Roy’s motive.
Any nation of US allies follows the West foot step per “capitalism” is absolutely self-destructive. the real change is Socialist for the people, by the people, that everyone shares the fruit but not only the elite on the pretext per “democracy and “capitalism”
In ancient Rome, that “democracy” was a vehicle to grab other’s tribe’s resources and lands, it worked since ancient time, why change the formula and menus? While the world citizens brainwashed by West Propaganda believes the capitalism is Democratic. What a farce and travesty of any intelligent citizen can’t see thru the absurdity.

The young man who asks his questions is really curtailed by those who think they'd defend AR, but these are the question that need to be aired and answered. Asking questions should not be seen as problematic. I think it is wonderful to hear AR's answers and we need to hear searching questions that help us to understand where she is coming from.

Antonio Garmsci my comment was meant as a jibe towards her haters. Indian conservatives (and they are the majority) despise her because she spills the beans and lays out everything bare for all to see. They can't stand that. It hurts their "sensitivities" . Hence my jibe.

Why is she hiding her first Name
Kerala Syrian Christian Arundhati Roy supports Jewess Wendy Doniger . Before Independence Jew Rothschild
(owner of British East India Company) allowed Kerala Syrian Christians and Maharashtrain Chitpavan
    brahmins to own media ,
BR Ambedkar had a Chitpavan Jew wife .
She is a child born of a marriage between a Christian lady from Kerala and a Bengali Hindu tea - grower
Now why doesn't she talk about her HINDU father - is that becuase Mary filled her life with christiology
She is nothing - but a parrot - her creator is pradip kishen and if one debunks pradip kishen Bitch Roy is on streets.
with gerard she was uneasy she wanted name//fame and the most easy pick was pradip kishen and the saga contunies.
what her growth after meedting pradid kishen ..
But dont worry these things will not penetrate and will perish .. the ultimate truth... good bye

Ma Roy built a house for herself in illegally occupied tribal land in India. The Indian government made people like her give back the land to the tribals .

Dear Arundhiti; love and hate are two sides of a coin. your love for India makes you criticise India. But criticism should bd founded on truth. Unfortunately you have been twisting truth to your way of thinking. You have become beloved of the West because you love to criticise India by twisting, fabricating your accusations. The more you hate India, the more the west will love you. India like an elephant is moving forward without any influence of persons like you.

At 4.55 this has been proven to be a lie.
"Among the most morbid canards, the novelist Arundhati Roy’s vitriolic article (Outlook magazine, May 6th, 2002). She describes the event which precedes Ehsan Jaffri’s death (extract):
… A mob surrounded the house of former Congress MP Iqbal Ehsan Jaffri. His phone calls to the Director-General of Police, the Police Commissioner, the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) were ignored. The mobile police vans around his house did not intervene. The mob broke into the house. They stripped his daughters and burned them alive. Then they beheaded Ehsan Jaffri and dismembered him …
Wait a minute. Jaffri was burned alive in the house, true - is it not awful enough? Along with some other 41 people. Not enough? But his daughters were neither “stripped” nor “burnt alive.” T. A. Jafri, his son, in a front-page interview titled “Nobody knew my father’s house was the target” (Asian Age, May 2nd, Delhi ed.), felt obliged to rectify:
Among my brothers and sisters, I am the only one living in India. And I am the eldest in the family. My sister and brother live in the US. I am 40 years old and I have been born and brought up in Ahmedabad.
There we are, reassured as regards Ehsan Jaffri’s children. He had only one daughter, who was living abroad. No one was raped in the course of this tragedy, and no evidence was given to the police to that effect.
The Gujarat Government sued Outlook magazine. In its May 27th issue, Outlook published an apology to save its face. But in the course of its apology, the magazine’s editors quoted a “clarification” from Roy, who withdrew her lie by planting an even bigger one: the MP’s daughters “were not among the 10 women who were raped and killed in Chamanpura that day”! From Smita Narula to Arundhati Roy, “four or five girls” had swollen to “ten women,” equally anonymous and elusive."
