    Fantastic work. The only gripe I have with your videos is the polishing of steel.. you never sand the scratches out fully before polishing!!! Other than that, brilliant vids keep up the good work!

      Sometimes the scratches and pits can't be fully sanded out without further compromising the integrity of the blade. So it's the lesser of two evils, in the end.

      @@ynysafalon Thats fair for the pits and deep scratches, I was more talking about the scratches made by sanding through the grits. If they aren't taken out properly, it shows through a lot in a polished finish. Theres loads of good techniques on UA-cam for a great mirror finish when hand sanding as much as he does in this vid! Just good to keep learning and expanding skills :)

    Can you do a full restoration on your red vice? I have one that's identical and it'd be really cool to see what it would look like completely refurbished.

    Im working on cleaning up an old knife and there are little pits/divots in the blade. I grind and grind but they don't seem to go away. Im looking for a mirror finish. Am I expecting too much out of this old blade?

    Never seen a tang constructed like that.
    A small bolt, decapitated, flattened,cut to length and riveted to the blade .Fascinating.
    Unable to source a die-nut ?

    On the upper side of the dagger, the handle has been bent 90 degrees. It is supposed to stand out in a straight line to protect your hand.

      The guard at the tang, yes, it does appear bent - but it could have been made that way. I was more concerned about how he left the actual hand guard crushed, rather than straightening it out.

    Very good job, however, this knife should have some cement in the handle for better balance. This "knife" originally was made with an old bayonet blade.

    Very good job. Surprised you didn't straighten out that bent guard. It's not supposed to be that shape. that's what you get after you hit someone with it, or drop it. (Both at the tang AND the hand guard)

      @@ДастанЮсупов-л7б - You asked what its name was. Some swords had names, like 'Excalibur'. I didn't name it. I don't own this knife. As for the type? Probably Turkish or Iranian, but I don't know for sure. Look up yatagan - they're similar.

    You can use hydrogen peroxide to remove rust off of nickel and other metals ik this because have tested this on other metals and it only takes a few minutes due to it having germs and no it doesnt eat at the metal and the only thing that eats the metal is vinegar any type of vinegar eats at the metal tried it with other stuff and ate right through copper and nickel and zink

    I had a knife of exactly the same design in 1946. But mine had a handle that was made of mother of pearl pieces inlaid with silver and the blade was engraved with Indian characters, a prayer maybe.

    shiny! looks very pretty now.
    tbh, i kind of liked the patina look the handle had, but no one ever does that in these youtube restoration videos, so i understand the audience probably wants to see the whole thing shiny.

    This knife is a strange combination of different parts: low quality hand guard, bolt riveted to tang. Cheap nut. The blade seems to be forged but feeble tang. Handle cheaply made and no sheath.

    why didn’t you straighten the finger guard?!?! it had obviously been bent at some time and needed it. sorry, but this spoilt (for me) what was a nice restoration.

      кавказцы кинжалы делают под три пальца. указательный кладешь на ограничитель или больстер, а все остальные охватывают рукоятку.

    одно хочу понять, зачем? нож имеет какую то ценность историческую? Потому что, с практической стороны, мне кажется, бесполезная реставрация...

      Сдаётся мне, по тому. как он обрабатывает надфилями и напильниками поверхности, не такой уж и ценный предмет, да и выглядит соответственно, но посмотреть можно.
